I came into this establishment solely because the reviews were great. Upon entering the restaurant I almost left the ambience is not the greatest or what you would expect from a restaurant, but one previous reviewer stated that it was a hole in the wall which is why I didn't leave, the food was great. Took my guys out for lunch, the food was decent for Garden City standards, however immediately after I got back to my hotel I felt sick and had to take the browns to the Super Bowl. By the time that we all received our food, we got a small table in a corner. The food tastes ok, nothing out of this world like the other reviewers said. My husband didn't like the Hawaiian burger. Stopped for dinner while staying in Garden City for a night on way to CO for vacation. The only disappointment is that I wish La Estrella was in *my* hometown. Four of us, including a vegan and a picky eater, loved everything we ate. My husband had the pork tacos (pastor, I think he said) and chorizo tacos, and he raved. They were more of a street-style taco, served with fresh lime to squeeze over. Very fresh! I am a big fan of enchiladas and had the enchiladas rojas. They were more authentic than Tex Mex (everything here is), but a great proportion of sauce to cheese to enchilada. With a bit of the spicy salsa (yowza!) or pico (the pico is ah-MAYYY-zing!), just mmmmmmmMMMMMM. So good! Picky Eater (our 18 yo son) got 3 burritos with just ground beef and cheese inside. He was in heaven. Vegan (our 15 yo dgtr) got the fries and some chips and guac. She was fighting us ALL off her food. That GUACCC!!! Yum, yum, YUM. Just yum. And they serve beer, too! Y'all. After seeing such a high rating here on Yelp, we had to try it out. I was very pleased! The restaurant was clean, and the staff were helpful and pleasant. I don't know Spanish, so the menu was hard to decipher, but there were pictures so I could see what I wanted. We ordered the chorizo queso, Gringa + 1 asada Taco, and Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas. The presentation was great, and the food tasted wonderful. The only negative thing I could find was that the chips did taste a little stale, but overall, it was a great experience.
