It is a family tradition and favorite!!! The large combination is the best. My mom gets the pablano. Miss seeing some of the original family. read more

Same review as everyone that has actually come to eat here The enchiladas were dry as if they hadn't even attempted to out sauce on it They just had been topped with cheese Didn't taste any enchilada flavor at all Salsa was so so. I didn't understand why people would want to have it shipped No cilantro in it or onion bits just a very slightly spicy tomato sauce My husband wasn't impressed either his carne asada plate either read more

On a work trip walked in and had dinner. Pretty good chips and salsa, the cheese dip was also great. We had great a server and food was pretty good. I'd go again. Pretty good for garden city. read more

Food was good. Service was good. Called ahead to make a reservation for a table of 12 and was told no problem. Got there and was basically called a liar. No one had called! When I showed her my phone with their phone number in it her tone changed. We almost walked out but everyone was wanting Mexican food and we knew it was a good restaurant to eat at. Definitely would get rid of the hostess or manager whoever she was that greeted us at the door. read more

Food was bad the beans were burnt burritos were dry and I couldn't get the green sauce for my chips unless I paid for a whole jar. They didn't have margaritas .. beer only ..I had to ask for salt 3 times to salt my chips and the service was mediocre! read more

Does the name look familiar? I actually found the place that makes my favorite salsa that's sold a Sam's Clubs around the country. I've enjoyed their salsa for years and the food here was no exception. Very typical Mexican menu with affordable prices. After gorging on the chops and salsa I got the chili rellenos which were pretty huge and tasty! My buddy got the fajitas and cheese dip which were also very stereotypical but definitely a step above the rest. If I'm ever back in garden city I'll definitely be back for more but in the meantime I'll just enjoy the salsa and smile knowing I've been to middle-of-no-where's-ville ks where it's made! read more

Moved from Garden City and came back for a visit. Grew up eating at El Zarape's and couldn't wait to eat there again. Love their hot sauce! The reason for the one star is that we were served mild hot sauce so we asked for medium. They said for a small bowl they would have to charge us for it. We ended up buying a jar because it would be cheaper then to buy small bowls for our group. They make their own hot sauce and I've never been anywhere that charged for a bowl of hot sauce. Mr and Mrs. Garcia would be very unhappy as they were always trying to please their customers! We won't ever eat there again. We will go to Holcomb another favorite place for us. read more

I love love this place. My family and Ihave been coming here since I was a small child. I think they spoiled me on what mexican tastes like because since I have moved away I cant find anywhere that compares to El Zarape. I LOVE that I can get their hotsauce at dillons here. Eating their salsa with chips is like comfort food for me. Everytime Im in Garden City we HAVE to come here to eat. read more

I love Mexican food. I was a little disappointed when I came here. The chips and salsa were fantastic. I got the chile relleno. I like mine to be crispy and cheesy. This one was covered in egg and a little soft for my liking. I ended up getting something else and it was ok. read more

I had the shrimp fajitas. They were good I just wish there would of been more than 5 small shrimps and the rest was all bell peppers. My husband had a burrito and when I asked him how it was he said "tough as nails" And "half my burrito is sour cream" I thought he was joking, he cut the burrito and indeed one side sour cream side and one meat. The cheese dip was disappointing and the salsa was just tomatoe. This is not what Mexican food is supposed to taste like. Also a Mexican quesadilla does not use cheddar cheese. read more

We have loved this place for a long long time! During Covid we've ordered delivery and they are better then even a pizza delivery place at getting our order to us in a timely manner. They send friendly delivery people and are always early in bringing us food. Great service and awesome food!!! read more

if I could give this restaurant a 0 I would. we got seated rather quickly despite being busy but sadly that was the only good thing here. we had asked for a high chair and it took about 20 minutes to get to us, even tho we had seen our waitress several times. i could be wrong but I'm pretty sure my tacos were from the freezer section from dollar tree. the rice tasted like bathroom cleaner and the salsa was basically just blended tomatoes. what really set me over the edge was the bill of 185 for freezer food. we did have a larger group of 12 but 6 of them shared meals. would not recommend this place to my worst enemies. 0/10. read more

Beer only. Chips are a bit thick. Food is pretty average. Atmosphere isn't going to transform you to Mexico.

I've been eating here for over 35 years. Their food is amazing. But, their salsa shipping business is crap. I sent them $70 over a month ago for a case of salsa and I still haven't received it. They don't answer my emails. It's frustrating. So, to summarize my previous three sentences. Food is amazing. Service is crap. read more

Just went to El Zarape to have dinner lots of empty tables yet they could not seat us made us wait so we left to find another Mexican restaurant read more

My family enjoys eating at El Zarape. My favorites are the Pablito and the Mexican plate. My family enjoys the enchiladas and pork burritos. My husband buys their salsa by the case! read more

There are very few delivery places here in Garden, so I gave this place a shot. I was extremely disappointed. The food was bland and extremely overpriced. I paid over $20 for an order, and assumed I'd eat it for my next few meals. The $7 "burrito" I ordered was a small, taco sized flour tortilla with a small amount of beans and cheese. It was supposed to also have steak, but I missed out on that part. Bland, overpriced food. Not worth your time when there are dozens of authentic Mexican restaurants in the area. read more

tried this place for the first time in a few years and it was just as bad as i remember, if not worse. as soon as we sat down, a bug had crawled across my leg. later on when we had gotten our food, we found a hair in the burrito. the rice was quite dry and the tortillas were stale as well. then, another bug had crawled across my foot and into my shoe. just an awful experience. read more

We have always enjoyed El Zarape's, however this past Saturday my husband and I went. It was the worst. Our waitress was fantastic but we were there forever. It appears that they have decided to concentrate on take out orders rather than people dining in. After waiting 1 hour and 15 min for our food my husband's order was not correct, my order had the wrong sides and when they corrected the sides I noticed the pablito had the incorrect meat choice but hey I was hungry and it was cold. read more

The food is incredible, the waitstaff is pleasant, and they deliver! One of my favorite restaurants in town! My family eats their food at least once a month! Try the Abby Dip, it's delicious! One problem is when you get it to go you don't get chips unless you order a dip (other than salsa). Other than that it's a great place! read more

An excellent choice, whether you live in the area or are just passing through. Family oriented and family owned, service is sometimes a little slow, but food has never been served to me cold or under prepared, and I rarely have to send back custom orders. I've been eating at this establishment since before I could speak. You cannot go wrong with this choice in Mexican cuisine!!! read more

What a disappointment! I have heard mixed reviews about el Zarape and decided to try it. Their cheese dip tasted very bland and had a lumpy texture. The food was mediocre; it lacked originality. read more

I would give this zero stars if I could! My meal was listed as coming with corn tortillas and that flour would be .70 upcharge... so I specified corn tortillas because I have a gluten allergy. The meal was so sloppy together on the plate that I never guessed they would've given me flour tortillas instead until the bill came with the upcharge. I questioned it and was told I should've specified (I did) and that it automatically goes into their system as flour when ordering. I actually told the manager I was going to the bathroom to see if I could throw up my meal so I wouldn't get as sick later and they did nothing... in fact, she came back to the person I had lunch with while I was in the bathroom throwing up my meal to tell him I should've done a better job telling them that I didn't want flour and I wanted corn instead (he also reiterated that I *did* specify corn!). Your menu says they will be corn unless you ask for flour and then they will charge you more for flour! Even if I hadn't gotten sick (I still had issues despite trying to "purge" the meal from my system), the fact that the default is an upcharge instead of defaulting to what it says on the menu is a disgrace. I can't believe I paid for a meal they screwed up, I threw up, and that made me sick anyway! read more

The food and service were decent but they have a major fly problem. There were flies everywhere. I'm surprised the health dept hasn't been called in to have a look. I can only image what it looks like in the kitchen. read more

Very disappointed! Cheese dip was bland, salsa was tomato soup. Asked for spicy salsa thinking it would be better, jalapeños and vinegar! Then our food came out cold. 6 people in the group and no one had a good meal. No way would I recommend this place! Only plus is I didn't get sick... read more

After hearing mixed reviews we decided to try this place. If I was just reviewing the food it would be at least a 4. The chicken fajitas were great and we enjoyed the salsa even though it was sort of tomato sauce with a kick at the end. Also, our service wasn't great... But got the feeling our waiter was new. Overall, it's worth a try if you're having a Mexican food marathon in Garden City like we are! Gotta try 'em all. read more

Never had a bad experience at this restaurant. Always good service and great food! I would recommend El Zarape to anyone looking for an authentic Mexican food dining experience. Much better food than competitors with the exception of their cheese dip, the only thing I've had that I didn't really care for. read more

Poor service and food tastes old. Has been many locations and never know where it is next. Don't waist your money. Very disappointed.
