We were greeted right away when we walked in. A soft spoken older woman behind the counter who I assume was the owner. We were on our way home to the Des Moines IA metro after spending a few days in Lincoln and Omaha NE. There is a TON or stuff here! Two floors. Everything from higher end items to rough, crusty, and dusty. Lots of smalls to some larger items. I walked out with a couple of piano shaped tricket boxes and cocktail shaker. My girlfriend picked up a couple bracelets. Two things I should probably mention... There was a little standing water in the basement/bottom floor over by the glassware. Not enough that the place smelled musty or that it impacted any of the merchandise. It's an older building. It happens. Just be aware. The second thing. Cash only. There is an ATM nearby if you need it. Bear Trap Antiques is definitely worth a stop if you are in Walnut!

Some of us like to dig and don't mind getting our hands a little dirty...getting a little crusty, musty, and dusty. My girlfriend doesn't... Lol This was her type of store. But the owner at Mabel's Old Fashioned Rose was the nicest and most helpful person in Walnut! He asked us what we were looking for, and right away showed us a couple pieces, and gave us suggestions of other thing we could add to our collection. I would definitely be back to see what else he has in store.

Rows of cases and tons of shelves. Everything from very smalls and jewelry up to large furniture. This was our second stop after Rusty Farm Girls Primitives and right then we decided the trip to Walnut from the Des Moines IA metro had been worth it. We've driven a lot further for a lot less. The woman working the counter here was very friendly and willing to work a little on prices if we were serious about it. One of the few places where that offer was extended... I would have loved to have taken that HUGE bell just inside of the front door home with me... If only I'd had a spare $1,250.00 in my account. Unfortunately the amount of flex up and down we both could do wasn't going to get us in the ballpark. Lol Walnut Antique Mall and Granary Antique Mall are two must stop destinations on your visit to Walnut IA!

This is a thrift/vintage shop right off of Main Street that isn't to be missed. I went for the first time over Thanksgiving and went again over Christmas. Each time I'm here, I find multiple goodies that are so unique, darling, and most importantly - VERY reasonably priced! Everything here is priced to sell, and that makes for a really fun shopping experience each time. Unlike Goodwill or other thrift stores, prices haven't been hiked up here. AND that means each time I come, there's a wealth of new goodies to check out! I have gotten SO many holiday decorations, house decorations, and mid-century trinkets here. My mom has gotten multiple holiday decor items here, and my brother has purchased several pieces of decor and art for his home here. A few of my favorite finds have been golf ball ornaments, felt garland, and some darling decor pieces. Brandi, the owner, is a gem of a human. She is so kind, recognizes us when we come in and knows our names and what we talked about last time we were in. She helps us find things, and shares a love for midcentury modern decor. She gives back to the community too - she has a warm clothes setup outside of the store for anyone in need to take this winter. She also has different groups she supports with wares from her store at a discount. I just love everything about this store: the kind owner that takes time to make real connections with her community, the gems she finds, the incredible value and well-priced items, and the excitement of something new each visit. I hope this helps spread the word about what an awesome store it is!
