Granaray Antique Mall has two levels and lots of offshoot rooms to explore! Cases, rows of shelves, and furniture! This is the mall that I would call a "guy's mall!" A lot of dark wood, brass, antlers, etc. But there's something for everyone here too... Everything from smalls like jewelry to furniture that probably weighs several hundred pounds. I picked up three brass firehose nozzles priced at $20 ea, but the vendor had their case marked at 50% off. Nozzles that should have been $30-$40 ea market value I walked away paying $10 ea. I left happy. Well worth the 1+hr trip from the Des Moines metro to Walnut on a beautiful Friday before Memorial Day! Granary Antique Mall and Walnut Antique Mall are two must stop destinations on your trip into Walnut IA!

Corn County Antiques has a wide selection of items and the prices vary from reasonable to kind of high, but that varies with the vendor who owns the items....not the shop itself. This shop just wasn't my cup of tea and I can't really explain why... Maybe it was because we were at the end of our day? This was one of our last stops in Walnut. Maybe it was something in how the merchandise was displayed...? Even though Corn County Antiques wasn't one of my favorites...it might be yours! I'd encourage everyone...if you're in Walnut... At least poke your head into every shop on Antique City Drive. It's a tour that can be completed in less than a full day and you never know what kind of a hidden treasure you might find as you walk through this neat little town.

We were greeted right away when we walked in. A soft spoken older woman behind the counter who I assume was the owner. We were on our way home to the Des Moines IA metro after spending a few days in Lincoln and Omaha NE. There is a TON or stuff here! Two floors. Everything from higher end items to rough, crusty, and dusty. Lots of smalls to some larger items. I walked out with a couple of piano shaped tricket boxes and cocktail shaker. My girlfriend picked up a couple bracelets. Two things I should probably mention... There was a little standing water in the basement/bottom floor over by the glassware. Not enough that the place smelled musty or that it impacted any of the merchandise. It's an older building. It happens. Just be aware. The second thing. Cash only. There is an ATM nearby if you need it. Bear Trap Antiques is definitely worth a stop if you are in Walnut!

I would have loved to have taken that HUGE bell just inside of the front door home with me... If only I'd had a spare $1,250.00 in my account. Unfortunately the amount of flex up and down we both could do wasn't going to get us in the ballpark. This shop seems to specialize in the larger furniture items...as the name implies…read more It has a real rustic feel to the shop. Lots of dark wood. A lot of piles. I found the barrels and saddles fascinating. Not that I need to own either one...but I'm a bourbon fan and having grown up around my grandfather I've always had an inclination towards the "old west." The owner was friendly enough and we engaged in some casual conversation before we left the store. Probably not your dream location if you are looking for smalls, but don't not stop here because of that... You never know what you are going to find. Like a buffalo figurine collection that someone had unloaded that was randomly staged on an old bureau in the front room.
