WARNING to anyone renting from these scammers. The condo itself was absolutely beautiful, clean,…read moreand very nice to stay in. Unfortunately, the rental company's business practices completely ruined the experience, and we will never rent through them again. Before our flight home even landed--and before anyone from the office ever spoke with us--the company charged $650 to my credit card for damage caused by previous guests. Charging a customer's card without warning or a conversation is not the proper way to do business. When we asked for proof of the damage, such as before-and-after photos, they were completely unable to produce them or provide any other form of evidence that we caused the damage. If you choose to stay at one of their properties, make sure you document any and all damage you see the moment you walk through the door. They will charge you without hesitation and without proof. It is really too bad because the property was wonderful, but the lack of integrity from the management company makes it a place we cannot recommend.

This company contracted with me to rent a 3-bedroom, 2-bath condo in Sanibel, FL. When I asked to…read moreview the condo, I was informed it would not be ready for my February 2026 vacation. Instead, they offered me a few 1-bedroom, 1-bath condos--completely different from what I originally booked. I told them to cancel my reservation if they couldn't provide a comparable replacement. They cancelled but still charged me a 2.5% cancellation fee. The problem is, it wasn't my fault: they rented me a condo that wasn't available and couldn't provide a proper substitute. Yet they still kept $218 of my money. That's dishonest and reflects very poor business practices. I strongly recommend staying far away from this company.

But, I had such a horrible experience, I wanted to warn others and perhaps save them from the same experience we had. Please explore other rental companies if you are looking for a vacation spot on Sanibel or Captiva...and here's the sad story: We had a terrible experience with the condo we rented and the service (or lack thereof) provided by RE/MAX of the Islands. Specific to the condo: the key was difficult to operate (it wouldn't turn) but it didn't matter. We learned after a few days that the door lock did not work...the condo could be opened by simply turning the handle even when it was supposed to be locked. And RE/MAX did NOTHING; in fact, Sarah at RE/MAX hung up on us every time we called. We filed a police report to protect ourselves and the police sergeant who came out to investigate suggested that we take our valuables with us each time we left the condo. We also had the following issues: inoperable ceiling fan, shower doors off track, safe not operational, WiFi not operational. The bedroom smelled funny which makes me question their cleaning methods. I've traveled a lot for business and pleasure and have never had such a disappointing experience. I've had national management oversight for a team of over 200 customer service professionals so I understand what makes good customer service. This was definitely in the "not good" column. I would definitely NOT recommend using RE/MAX of the Islands to rent a vacation property. There are lots of other options on the Islands and I strongly urge you to rent through a source other than RE/MAX!
