I really enjoy the pony. However, every time I call to order food, they are never taking pick up orders. Some people aren't able to sit down at a restaurant and you can't pick and choose when you accept pick up orders. Terrible business. read more

While I've been here a few times and the food has been decent, I was very disappointed in the service and value of eating here. The last time I was here with a group we didn't received our food for literally 35-40 minutes later. Not acceptable for quick lunch dining. Plus my cheeseburger which I added mushroom, grilled onion, an egg to, ended up being over 11 with tip for just the burger. No side or drink. Plus everything was so greasy this time from the bun, burger and sautéed veggies. I don't frequent often but each times I go there's something disappointing about it. read more

The food was all made fresh and delicious! Our server was attentive, and super friendly.. I think our server was the owner. I got the Reuben, fries and motz sticks.. Delicious. The fries were fluffy and not like the soggy McDonalds ones that some places try to serve. Overall, very pleased!! read more

Chubby's just opened in November. It's convenient for your cheap college-food needs, being right on the party strip of Adams, and a not-terrible walk from the edge of the campus. The whole place is very college. Decor is eclectic and silly, there's a couple TVs. Nothing is too expensive, and the hot dogs are downright cheap. My table got all horseshoes/ponies, and the general consensus was very good. I especially liked the buffalo chicken pony I had, though it lacked in french fries. Decent bar, good and cheap food, and it's right on Adams. What's not to like? read more

Best burger in town. Get a Pretzel Burger. I go with the Pretzel Burger with cheese, throw some grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, maybe some bacon if you got that extra student loan money or you just got paid. There aren't a lot of options in Macomb. I like to go in and enjoy a drink and a meal from time to time. Decent selection of beer and wine. Bar staff is friendly but not always very attentive. Menu is pretty good. Food could be excellent, but as others have mentioned, flavor is sometimes bland and the once excellent Seasonal salad is now only fair (mixed greens are now mostly ice berg lettuce) Because I really enjoy going out and supporting local business I have been a returning customer, but recently there have been some serious problems that I am have difficulty overlooking: The place needs CLEANED!! Eating upstairs I noticed a thick layer of dust on above the bar and the carpet is absolutely disgusting. Grease? It's shiny and slick at the top of the stairs. The bathrooms are also in need of a deep clean and repair of the door locks. That said, the most obvious issue is the SMELL. I don't know if the ventilation system is faulty or just needs cleaned, but the smell of grease permiates my hair and clothes. I heard staff telling someone at the bar the the ventilation was being affected by the way the wind was blowing, causing some kind of back draft. OK, maybe once, but this issue has been going on now for over a month and I won't be returning until it's fixed. I just can't deal with it! I hope they work this out. I don't want to loose another business in Macomb. read more

If you are in Macomb, Illinois and you do not visit this place you are missing out on a great sandwich and great drinks. The atmosphere and hospitality is second to none at Chubbys. I am sure that the next time I'm in Macomb, I will make plans to visit Chubby's again. I had a cheeseburger with an egg and bacon on it and my father had a meatloaf sandwich. We got to chubbys with a party of 7 at about 5PM and didnt get our food until over an hour later. I ordered the parmesan chicken with loaded mashed potatoes (which cost an additional 2.99 extra) & tater tots for my one year old daughter. Only half our table got their food and without everything they ordered. For example i got my chicken with one side and had to wait another 20 mins for the tater tots which was for my daughter. My dad didnt get his food until about 20mins after every one else, when my kids got their kids meals after over an hour wait it wasnt even hot, the portions dont match the prices. I could go on and on. It was a waste of money. Especially since i paid $2.99 extra for loaded mashed potatoes and the serving was about maybe half a cup and it came with sour cream in a cup on the side and a sprinkle of cheese. Thats not worth the upcharge. The best thing about this place is the atmosphere. The menu makes no sense, half the sides are a variation of a potato, its over priced for underwhelming food, the staff is clueless about the menu, the ketchup bottles were sticky/dirty on the outside. And even after all that and having a horrible dining experience the waitress did nothing which is why she got no tip from me. Usually weather its the kitchens fault or not you make your guests happy. She could have tried to rectify the situation and she did nothing.No apology, she didnt let us know was going on, or come update us. Dont waste your money. If you have to go stick with lunch items or pony/horse shoes. They cant make real food. read more

First meal: great. meatloaf sandwich, meatloaf dinner, double burger, regular burger. Mashed potatoes are volcanically hot, but very good. Second meal: meatloaf burnt a tad, but otherwise good. Third meal: creamed corn had gone bad. Open faced turkey sandwich delicious. Husband's rib-eye about what you would expect for a $12.00 rib-eye. Some sides didn't come to table on time. Server re-filled drinks even though we said no thanks. Server did apologize for inconsistencies and problems with meal. We'll go back and give it another go. read more

Went there for brunch on Sunday. Horrible service. Waitress was rude & did not know how to keep up with her section. Food took a literal hour for a party of 6. I understand that It was *kind of* busy, but 6 plates of eggs should not take that long. Once our food finally came It was cold. Two out of the 6 dishes had hair in them. Solid 2/10. When a server takes your order and then forgets to enter the order, you might miss lunch. That server did spend time talking with a customer at the bar and did explain to me that I "don't understand life" because she was really busy at lunch. My husband and I have brunch at Chubby's most Sunday mornings. This morning I had forgotten that they scramble their eggs in butter, to which I'm allergic. So they had to re-make the eggs and did so at no cost and with their apologies -- even though it was my fault! And most importantly, their food is perfection! We have visited on the Square twice now. Although the food was okay the service is lacking. Both times we were given the worst tables in the restaurant even though there were several better tables available. It wasn't that the resteraunt was busy. One table was about 2x1 feet shoved against the wall by a small room where the wait staff kept there supplies where 2 people were expected to eat as the staff was coming and going and even bumping my chair at one point. The other was a high top by the bar. While it wasn't as bad we were at the one closest to the door where incoming customers were standing again while we were trying to eat and other better tables available. Service is just as important as the food and hopefully both will improve. We will try one more time because they are so new to this dinning atmosphere. read more

We had a group of 9 people and while the staff was happy to ply the group with drinks, after an hour wait for our food order we were then told it would be 15-20 more minutes because they had a $400 catering order that took priority over anyone at a table. We asked why we weren't told this up front and the reply was "oh we thought you were." After the 20 minutes went by we were told it would be another 20 minutes but our drinks would be on the house. After that 20 minutes went by, our order was "being worked on". Three of our group left and the rest waited an additional 30 minutes for their food. While the staff was nice and somewhat apologetic, this place is a disorganized disaster and after all that occurred and what was "on the house" the bill was still too high in my opinion. I personally will never return to this place if in the Macomb area again unless they can get their stuff together. read more

Great newer bar close to WIU campus and is still friendly to locals. Food is excellent comfort food and I would highly recommend the dipped Italian Beef, it is awesome. I recently made a visit to Chubby's because I was told by a family member that it had good food. Well I was not at all impressed. I felt the prices were to high and the service was very slow. It seemed to take forever to get our food after it was ordered. The waitress was very nice but I was not comfortable in this business and I don't believe I will be returning anytime soon. read more

Went for midweek evening meal after reading various reviews which list this place as one of the top three in the Macomb area. After tonight's experience I shudder at the thought of those ranked below Chubby's. I ordered the Italian Beef Combo which was disappointing to say the least. The combo option adds an Italian Sausage link to complement the shredded Italian Beef, all served on a decent-sized Hoagie-style roll. I asked the waitress to serve the cup of au jus on the side instead of having the chef dip the sandwich prior to serving. I am glad I did since half of my crusty roll was sopping wet to the extent that it was no longer a sandwich, per se. But, the primary shortfall with this sandwich is that it lacked flavor. I was surprised the sandwich did not include much-needed sauteed onions and peppers, traditional additions to an Italian Beef Sandwich. The Italian Sausage link may or may not have been Italian Sausage but it did add a little flavor to the otherwise tasteless, bland sandwich. Chubby's needs to rethink its Italian Beef Sandwich. It has potential but I won't be ordering another anytime soon. read more
