Really cool place. The atmosphere is pretty unique for this part of the world. The food is kind of expensive and it took a while to get it despite there only being 2 other tables to serve in the whole restaurant at noon. The Veggie Lover Bowl was pretty good though and I think it's the only vegetarian entree. I would definitely like to see some more options. All in all, it was pretty good read more

To say the place is filthy still doesn't explain the smell, carpet "black dirty" the design could not be seen. The fake wood floors separated over 1/2" in places. Dust everywhere and dirt on the sticky floors make by squeaking noises when you walk. No music or tv distractions just sticky floors. The staff tried their best but the absentee owner couldn't even keep the refrigerator stocked the server starts with what they don't have on the menu NOT ANY SPECIALTIES. THE BEST for last, after eating my wife and I walked around the square but half way around I had to dart into a busy bar&grill to empty my bowels of undigested liquidy from what ever I ate. $50 and I couldn't keep it down 20 minutes. Stopped at Chubby's while in town yesterday and killing time going around the square, got in and noticed the place had an odd very off putting smell. We were seated at a table because the bar there isn't very big, we had just ate next door at Lips on the Square so we were just looking for a couple of drinks. The waitress immediately acted upset that we weren't ordering food and seemed like she was unorganized and had to check what beer they had on tap. I ordered a Kona Big Wave draft and my friend ordered an angry orchard. The waitress returned a minute later to tell me they didn't have Kona, so I ordered another beer. She then brought the angry orchard with a glass since it wasn't very cold, the problem she didn't uncap the bottle, which Angry Orchard ciders ARE NOT twist off. My friend had to fish out a bottle opener and open the bottle on his own. Also she proceeded to try to get us to order food 3 more times even though we had politely declined. Save your money and go to one of the much better bars/restaurants around the square or around town. I won't be back to Chubby's read more

I think Chubby's has some of the best food in Macomb. I love getting staples like the brisket tacos or spicy fried chicken sandwich, but also love specials like the bulgogi. read more

This place has been the same for years, not too bad, but could use small improvements. (New location is a big improvement as they are currently in the old Shiloh's location). Greeted by bartender upon entering. Sat at high tables. Quick service with drinks and food. Bloody Mary was good and had a delicious slice of bacon with a dill pickle and olive. The owners reaction to us making a complaint about my husbands food being cold was entirely inappropriate. First we come in to be seated in the corner next to the dish closet after waiting forever for someone to stop saying "we'll be right with you" and actually seat us. I thought whatever it's just the two of us we don't need a big table it's fine. The waitress came to take our order and as we ordered she looked at the menu and said "sorry that's the wrong menu" and she took it back to switch it out for the right menu. Another ten minutes. Again no big deal we'll just take a little longer to order, it's fine. We try to order several things and the waitress has to come back four times to tell us they don't have something we ordered. 15 minutes later she brings our food out and my husband's food isn't hot or fresh at all so he asked our waitress if she could have it replaced with a fresh sandwich so she took the plate back to the kitchen. Half of my food was cold as well. It wasn't even how he ordered it, the order was wrong. There was a bunch of yelling in the back and eventually the owner comes out. He brought my food back, stuck his finger into the chicken and mashed potatoes and said "it's definitely still hot" it wasn't my food that was the problem it was my husband's. When he asked what was wrong he interrupted me and said that we have to pay for the food anyway. My husband argued that we shouldn't have to pay for food we never ate. I've came here multiple times over the years, and I've never been impressed--it's mediocre, microwaved food at best. I've tried many different things--fried pickle spears, pork nachos, Cajun chicken, piranha wrap, chicken Caesar salad, and the buffalo pony shoe, just to name a few. All of these things taste bland and unimpressive. Tonight I ordered the buffalo chicken pony shoe. The fries were bland and needed salted. The cheese also hardens extremely fast and turns into a thick consistency. It's a great concept but poorly executed. Their regular pony isn't much better. Continually, the service at Chubby's is also extremely slow and I've walked out three times due to my waitress not showing after thirty minutes. On Sunday, August 18, 2019 my friends and I decided to have a brunch date at Chubby's, as a result of me and another friend eating brunch there the Sunday before and the food was so excellent, so we felt this was a great place to go. When we arrived we were greeted and seated immediately. I was excited because me and my friends work a lot and we live in different places, so we don't have time to meet for brunch, so I was ready from some much needed girl chat. When the waitress took our order, I asked for my bacon to be substituted for the chicken strips which I had last week. They were so excellent I wanted to eat them again. After a while the waitress brings out our food. However, my eggs were missing. So as I waited for the waitress to return, we could over hear a commotion coming from the kitchen, as we were sitting in the far back of the restaurant. A female voice was heard saying, "They need to order from the menu the way it is. No fucking substitutions." Me, my friends, and another couple with a child all look up and were taken aback by what was being said. It became even worse because the lady in the back went on to say, "This person wanted to substituted chicken strips for bacon. I make the fucking menu for a reason." At that point the waitress comes back out and I asked to 'speak to a manager' about the lady in the back indirectly utilizing profanity rereferring to the me the customer that asked for the substitution of chicken strips. I believe when the waitress went back there she informed the lady who was significantly inappropriate that customers could hear her. She replied, "I don't give a fuck." She continued to rant and rave about ordering off the menu she made utilizing profanity. After about a minute or so the male owner comes out and says, "How are you ladies doing today." My friends said, "Terrible, we can hear here cursing and that is inappropriate." So, I say, "She was cursing at me." He says, "No she wasn't cursing at you." I say, "Okay she was cursing indirectly at me, cause I am the person she is referring to that wanted to substitute chicken strips instead of getting bacon." His response was, "Everybody has bad days." I was so taken aback by his lack lustered responded. In all my 34 years on earth I never knew it was okay to curse directly or indirectly at customers. My friend further stated, "This is not okay to have to sit here and be disrespected and to say she is having a 'bad day' is unacceptable. And when we said we can hear her the responds was she did not 'give a fuck'...I should not have to pay to be disrespected." His reply in a loud tone was, "Well you ate the food, so your gonna pay." I was totally shocked. To be clear I just received my food, which was still missing eggs and I had not eaten, and my friends received their food about two minutes before me. So, this man-the owner if he would have paid attention he would have known we all just got our food. So, he wanted us to pay for a barley eaten meal and for me a meal that I had not even eaten nor gotten all my food, all while the female owner indirectly utilized profanity toward me and the meal I ordered. I was totally disgusted at this point. He continued to minimize the experience we were having as customers and continued to debate with us. He left and came back and said "how about half off." Then for the first time he offered us an apologize, which he should have led with from the beginning approaching our table, as he knew the issue. Especially after I told him I was the customer she was refereeing too. But he still continued to minimize the experience we were having as customers, so my friend asked for the check, so we could leave. The waitress apologized from the start and continued to apologize until we left. Nobody had any appetite at this point. It was like he was trying to make us feel like we needed to strike a deal with him, like we did something wrong. The waitress brings us our bill and as we read it, it's the full bill after the male owner said he was going to give us half off. So, the waitress was called and brought us back the correct bill. So, what was supposed to be a Beautiful brunch was a horrible and disheartened experience. I'm questioning base on my experiences if future customers who have allergies and religious preference (i.e.) no pork, will they me met with the same response. I hope some communication training and anger management is provided to the female owner. To be honest I was hoping she did not come out from the back because her tone and words were so vial and derogatory she made me feel unsafe. Me nor my friends will be returning to Chubby's the owners both handled the situation poorly. The positive thing about living in a small town is being able to ask questions and upon asking questions to different people this inappropriate behavior is common and a pattern by the female owner. read more

Attentive to our needs (group of 7), kept the drinks from the bar and soda machine flowing, courteous and professional. Definitely recommend! The food is great...when you can get it. Items randomly show up and disappear from the menu on a day to day basis. You never know if they'll be open or if they'll be "taking calls' at that time. This is probably my least favorite restaurant in Macomb, IL. It was so good when it was located on W. Adams. Since it has moved to the square, the service has gone way down hill. The furthest you can go down a hill. My friends and I went in for a drink or two and maybe an appetizer. The hostess seated us at a table which faced us directly into the sun. We politely asked to be moved so we could see our company, to which our waitress replied: "no". We also asked if we could rotate the table, for the same reason. Again, "no". Great food, quiet atmosphere, friendly service, creative menu, however running out of cherry's for Old Fashions and using the excuse of "tariffs" for not having Brussels sprouts is just stupid. Sending someone to go buy a jar of cherries would be my first solution as manager. If tariffs truly caused you to run out of Brussels sprouts I think it's time to partner with one of hundreds of local farmers. Put up a few greenhouses and start "locally sourcing" your now-tariff free menu items! And the last strike was no desserts available...hard for me to believe. I love the atmosphere of this place but my food is always overdone. I came in yesterday and was very specific about having Celiac disease and asked them to make sure gloves are changed. My med-rare steak came out well done and there was BREAD on my plate. My partner ordered a rare burger and his came out well done also. This evening was my first time visiting Chubby's, and I was very impressed. I was greeted by my server, the wonderfully bubbly and well presented, Claudia. As this was my first time I wasn't sure what to eat. However, Claudia was knowledgeable about the menu and very enthusiastic about the tater tots! A choice I did not regret it! The food was served promptly, and while similar establishments have served me food that unfortunately tasted cheap and poor quality, that cannot be said for my meal at Chubby's. During the meal our server regularly checked on us, which we really appreciated. Overall, the food and service made it a very enjoyable experience, and I will definitely call again next time I'm in Macomb. read more
