For example, we have a wide open wall above our fire place and Kelly suggested using an antique window frame to break up the space. We were disappointed with the General Contract that PJ & Company provided to us for the renovation…read moreof our home. The General Contractor routinely arrived at our house after the agreed upon start time and also came to house on one occasion without an appointment or any notice. His tardiness occurred on four of the six days that he worked at our house. The most egregious incident occurred when he was scheduled to being installing the tile floor for the kitchen at 4pm. The actual installation began around 6:15pm and did not conclude until after 10pm. The daily scheduled end time that was provided to us by the General Contractor was inaccurate which caused us to take unplanned vacation time from work and to routinely reschedule plans due to work not being completed on time. He arrived to our home on numerous occasions without the appropriate tools, there were paint stains throughout our house all over our hardwood floors and the areas behind the radiators were never painted. Additionally, even though we paid for debris removal in our contract, he used our trash receptacles to dispose of the waste from the project. Furthermore, during the tile installation, tile separators were not used leading to uniformed grout lines.

For those who think, as I originally did, you'd get a hoity-toity designer who would look down their nose at your choices and/or current design style, nothing could be further from the truth. Carmela presented herself as very down-to-earth, fun and full of ideas. She assuaged my fears about one color, warned me about another ("This color is dark, but with light cabinets you could get away with it"), and helped me select another color entirely for a different room of the house. All in all, she was a wealth of information and I wouldn't hesitate in hiring her, and I may just do so for decorating advice after all my other projects are complete. I can't imagine what she could do with window treatments and area rug choices!
