It was New Year's Eve night, and we were expecting a new washer and dryer the next day. We shut off the water to the hoses connected to the washer and placed them in a bucket to capture any residual water. Well, the valves are over 30 years old, had lime buildup, and didn't completely cut off the water. Midnight rolled around, and we heard a noise. The noise was coming from downstairs. My wife and I were out of town for several days. On our return we went into our house in Belton to find it standing in water. A pipe in the wall going to an outside faucet had burst while we were gone and we have no idea how long it had run.
