Horrible. Cancelled multiple times. When he arrived, he immediately started threatening that if he wasn't paid in cash he would put the piano back in the house. To further the threat, he illegally kept the house key from the lockbox. His behavior was erratic, unprofessional, dangerous, illegal, and threatening. Chris was recommended to us by a piano company. He moved our almost 7' grand all by himself within the house twice in a week for carpeting. Both the moves were handled all by himself. He managed the extremely heavy piano with knowledge and care because he himself plays and owns an even bigger one. Chris is an amazing guy! We used him to move a piano we purchased second hand and couldn't have asked for a better arrangement. He was very flexible with his availability and was able to fit us in within a few days and with a very specific time window. He arrived early at the sellers location, gave a quick inspection of the piano and made sure it was okay and then loaded it up onto his truck all by himself. It's too bad because I don't think it was his intention to scratch it when he was moving it. His dolly just moved on him. It put a noticeable scratch. I hired a piano moving service to get our Fischer antique When Chris arrived Sunday 11/1/20 to pick up the piano I chose to donate to a family - who hired Christopher's Piano Service - he was late and alone. When I asked where his helper was; he replied, "if there's no stairs, I'm ok alone." It wasn't okay. He left a 14 inch scratch in my floor and then proceeded to deny it, dismiss me (by hanging-up the phone ) and not return respectful voicemails. He wasn't willing to revisit my home to take a look at what he did. He went straight to, " I didn't have anything to do with that." And I have a witness - who watched him struggle to get the piano tipped onto it's side! We both saw him struggle. When a business owner refuses to acknowledge a mistake they may have made & look further into the possibility, I feel angry. People make mistakes. I make mistakes. When we don't take responsibility for our mistakes, we have problems. I called him almost 50 times trying to obtain the donation receipt and the calls were either sent to voicemail immediately or went to voicemail after a few rings. I spotted him at a supermarket parking lot (after 2 weeks of the donation) and he asked me to call him back that night (and why does he always ask customer to follow up instead of him calling me back????) and then of course, it didn't happen as it's always voicemails again. I bought a pristine-condition Yamaha grand piano from Craigslist yesterday and contacted Chris of Christopher Piano to move it from the seller's house in San Jose to my house in Dublin. He was able to accommodate my request for the very next morning (today) -- a Sunday -- and his rates were very very reasonable. Chris was very prompt in getting to the seller's house just before our scheduled time. He has all the equipment necessary to move pianos safely. Actually, I think his truck is setup purely to move pianos so he's not a general mover. I hear mixed things about using general moving people to move a piano (which is why I contacted this business instead of using a general mover). It turns out Chris is an avid piano player and a piano tuner and he really cares about the safety of the piano! The piano legs were carefully removed and each one was put into individual quilted fabric bags to keep each one safe and to prevent them from banging against one another. The piano itself was wrapped with a number of thick quilted fabrics/blankets and carefully placed onto what looked like a dolly made specifically for pianos (it was a long, skinny dolly). After carefully maneuvering the piano out of the sellers house and into the truck, the piano was then secured against one of the truck walls to prevent it from moving around. Again, it seemed Chris was very well prepared as he had my home address pre-entered into his GPS so I drove behind him to my house. At my house, Chris was preparing to take off his shoes to ensure he doesn't track any dust/dirt in the house without me even asking. Very professional. He was also very patient when I had him position the piano at the exact angle in my house. And since Chris does piano tuning also, I asked him I'd like his tuning service on the piano. But instead of tuning it right then and there to make some additional money from me without having to make another trip out from San Jose, he suggested that I wait 30 days to let the piano settle into the new environment as that may cause the piano to go out of tune. I'm very impressed and pleased I found Christopher Piano to move my grand piano. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone looking to move a piano! read more

Chris tuned and revoked our piano yesterday; after two moves and a lot of climate changes, it needed some TLC and it really got it. Chris restored its original sweet voice, which the last tuner didn't manage. Chris takes tuning seriously; he worked on the piano for nearly two hours, prompting one of my neighbors to get cranky, apparently about all the repeated notes - I personally found it relaxing; I should have recorded it! This alleged company has the absolute worst service. The company is flaky, unprofessional and I would not recommend them for anything. First, the only way he wants to communicate is via email or text. If you try calling it always goes to voicemail. Second, he is completely unreliable for appointment times. I have made the mistake twice of trying to use him. The first time he showed up 8 hours and 15 minute after his scheduled appointment time. He showed up by himself to move a baby grand piano...the quality of service a quality piano deserved in a move was not possible by himself, The second time we hired him to move a piano so new carpet could be laid down in a house. Christopher W. and i agreed and confirmed a time for him to move the piano and then return it 48 hours later. All services, payment agreement and understanding of urgency & need were agreed to by him. Day of service he NO SHOWED. We tried to call him, he would not answer, we text him many times. He finally replied bur pretended that he knew nothing of the requested service, even though he had agreed and confirmed the day before. We contacted him via text and FIRED HIM FOR FAILURE TO PROVIDE AGREED SERVICE! We the hired another local service, Carnes Piano. They are amazing. I stopped by their shop on N, Winchester across from Santana Row. They agreed to be hired immediately. The provided the service that Christopher Piano, Christopher W. failed to provide. The only low/worst ranking i could give is one star...and that is still to much. The first time Chris moved our piano for us, he was prompt, very kind, and I loved learning about his piano donation service. Unfortunately my most recent experience has been quite awful. I have called Chris more than TWENTY times in the last 2 weeks, texted him at least 10 times, and never received a return phone call and only one text message response. Because we intended to donate our piano (and discussed that with him in our first phone call over 2 weeks ago), we now will have to pay someone else to move it somewhere (we don't have space for it anymore) and will be losing money because it took longer than we expected to get the piano out. Chris is a nice guy, does some great things, but needs some sort of secretary so that he can manage communication with any kind of efficiency. read more

Update: Downgrade to a 2-star. After Chris moved our piano, 2 months this later he came back to tune our piano. After the tuning, my daughter was practicing "jingle bell" and i notice couple keys were making some wheezing echoing sound. I texted Chris to see if he can come back to check out what is going on. He never responded. I figured maybe he is busy. A few days later, I texted again and he still didn't bother to respond. Be warned. Once the transaction is done, don't expect any customer service. He was responsive before but not anymore when you report any problems. While I think he did a great job on moving my piano, he gets a 1-star go his tuning service and customer service. I am still having problems with several keys. I will find a better tuner next time. Hopefully he didn't mess up anything. My piano is only 1.5 year old. read more

I made an appointment to have my piano tuned last week. It was confirmed via returned text. Forty five minutes after the appointment I texted asking if he was still coming. He texted back that he was moving a piano and asked if he could call when he finished. I replied yes but that was the last I ever heard from him and he didn't reply to my follow up text the next day. I don't know anything about the quality of work that he does, but that would require showing up. Chris just left my house and I could not resist writing this review right away. He was referred to me by a colleague of mine after bad luck with reaching anyone on Craigslist. I called him, he picked up the phone right away and was at my house in an hour. My job for him was to move a baby grand piano from one room to another. He came fully prepared with special equipment, disassembled the instrument, wrapped it in protective covers and dollied it to it's final destination. From start to finish (including the drive to Redwood City), it only took him and his assistant, Oscar, two hours to finish the entire job.
