I've been flying to LA whenever I can to see Dr. John for a couple years now. I've had really bad headaches/migraines and jaw aches from TMJ for decades. No prescriptions, dentists or therapy relieved me of the pain until I started seeing Dr. John. After the master maninja (sp?) and jaw alignments I started seeing relief. It was almost unbelievable! I had lower back aches which are gone now. I have neck/shoulder aches that have started to heal. Often times when you fix one part of the body other aches can surface in the body's attempt to get back to normal which is what I'm trying to achieve. There's no bone crunching but DNFT is a gentle but more intense therapy. Often times I'll feel sleepy and tired on the days of my adjustments but that's a good sign. Dr. John doesn't accept insurance but helps with insurance submission which can take time. You get a few $ off paying in cash instead of credit card. He is THE top leader of DNFT, the best you can find. He works hard to train other DNFT doctors around the world. He has such a good understanding of the body in relation to the muscle manipulations that DNFT is about. There is no substitute doctor or chiropractic approach. I have a terrible, unexplained back injury (3 9mm herniated discs) and have had back pain since I was 15. By 26 I was walking with a cane, needing help bathing and desperate for a solution. 2 separate people referred me to Dr John so I decided to give him a try as a last attempt before risky surgery. At first it didn't feel like he was doing anything but I decided to stick with the recommended number of visits to really give it a chance. After 10 visits I was living a normal life; no more $250/hour useless PT, no more cane. My daily pain went from a 10 to a 0, or a 2 on a bad day. I can now walk around a theme park or go on a hike with no problem. There are still some activities I can't/shouldn't do, like heavy lifting or a reformer bike, but that would've been so many more things had I had a surgery, which doctors said wasn't a guarantee to help and posed a risk of paralyzation. Dr. John is amazing at what he does! I've been a loyal patient for the last 5 or so years. The Directional Non-Force Technique he utilizes cannot be compared to traditional bone cracking chiropractic and in my personal experience- cannot be replicated with a hand tool. After reading all the reviews and a recommendation from a friend I went 13 visits and even though the doctor said we were making great progress and to be patient the results would come I spent over $1200.00 dollars (my insurance was not accepted) and sorry to say my back trouble is still the same as the first day I went. After the last visit I had a few questions but the only way I could get 3 minutes of his time was if I paid for another appointment. I felt zero improvement and I think I had spent enough for a quick call back. I was referred to Dr. John by my husband and a friend - of whom both have had terrific results with back pain and spine help. After injuring my neck and incurring a concussion from a fall (skiing this past weekend), I have been suffering vertigo and pain all week. I am 100% better today with one treatment. Dr. Chris John is the best of the best. I had a severe neck/shoulder pain for over 10 years and I have been to many chiropractors and other doctors who could not help me. Last year, I was pregnant with my 5th child and at 32 weeks had a severe hip pinch nerve that ran through my back like an electricity shock. I could not get up or do any housework. My visit to Dr. John was a miracle. In my first visit, he had made me better and in my second visit I was completely better. If it wasn't for Dr. John, I could have had a c-section as the pain was too severe for me to do anything. It's really so simple.... DNF - It works and is painless. And for me, unlike any other treatments I have had, it lasts. Very rude and condescending receptionist. I called to reschedule my appointment because of illness and she had the audacity to say "If you really are sick then we understand. If it is serious you should of course stay home but if it is not serious you should come in." She then proceeded to inform me that she would pre-charge me for a reschedule. Curiously she seemed taken aback when I said I would just cancel for now, and she promptly hung up on me. Dr John is amazing. He has been my doctor for over 15 yrs. I have severe disc problems and have had times when I could not pick up my head, it would be "stuck" in the down position. I am a 26 year old woman, not overweight, fairly active. A few years ago I was diagnosed with 3 herniated discs and have lived in agony, to the point where I am in bed for weeks and have had to go to the hospital. My life was severely altered. I tried everything with minimal success...acupuncture, PT, pain killers, etc. Dr. John was my last hope before surgery that I wanted to avoid. After just 8 or so visits my life has changed. I have gone from a daily pain level of about 6-8 where I had to use a cane, to about 0-3. A bad day now is a 3, and we are working on having no bad days! I can't express the relief I feel that I found a non-surgical answer. I even went on vacation with my boyfriend and walked all around in the snow for hours and hours for 2 days straight and all I needed after was advil, whereas before I wouldn't have even made it 1 hour. This was the worst treatment of my life. I will never go to see this chiropractor again. His so called Directional Nonforce technique is very painful and not gentle at all. He aggravated my TMJ pain and the put my lower back in so much pain that I could barely walk when I left his office. I did not ask him to work on my lumbar spine or my sacrum or my coxcys and he did and put all of these areas in severe pain with his so called non force technique. Plus the metal boots he put on my feet put my feet in pain as well. AS far as I am concerned he does not listen to his patients and says his tests will tell me what my body needs. Baloney! He is just as narrow-minded as medical doctors who do not listen to their patients and who do not think outside the box. All I wanted was my upper back and adjusted in a non "cracking or torque fashion" Well his technique is just as bad as a DC who cracks your back. read more

I know the Karen F. who gave the bad review on the bottom and spoke with her on Sat night for about an hour because I was horrified that she would say such things about a doctor that I have found to be amazing. What she doesn't say in her review is that she has been in pain for 25 years with fibromyalgia and inflammation all over her body and that she has never found a chiropractor that she can see including the one that she has now. Her body is really in terrible shape, not even responding to vicodan. She also has a number of other problems that I won't mention here, but she also has a very nasty, vindictive attitude about anyone she deals with that tries to help her and fails and loves to write letters to supervisors, boards, and whomever she can think of trashing that person even though they have done their best and followed the rules in the case of airlines she complains to and even though it is the condition of her body that is to blame not them. I hope that you will disregard her review and know that it is coming from a very tormented individual. Dr John has been my Go-To "chiropractor" (though that is a misleading word to refer to his practice) for many years, after I was a victim of 2 rear-ended accidents and my search for THE "chiropractor", after many visits to supposed "best" physical therapists and their chiropractors referred by the insurance companies. Dr John is like no other and if you ever need to find a doctor who will listen to you and won't subject you to the traditional "Crack-the-back/neck" chiropractors, he is the one. I recommended him to countless men/women over the years, whenever someone tells me of their continuing problems despite visits to many chiropractors, and every single one spoke the world of what Dr John did for him/her...without any negatives. I'm not much of a reviewer, but I decided to write, after I was personally there, some months ago this year, when a woman called in, only 1hr before her much coveted Saturday appointment time (when Dr John only works 1/2 day), and started threatening the receptionist that unless the office agrees to reschedule her with no charge, she's "going to write a nasty yelp review". She certainly did not sound sick and she also didn't mention her sickness. The receptionist, I thought, was as nice, professional and as patient as anyone can be...and....volunteered to even go discuss with the Doctor as to what can be done. So, while I heard many horror stories of how unreliable some yelp reviews might be, this was the first time I experienced first hand, how nasty some patients can be to their doctors, whose time, all of a sudden, is left open and too close to even try to call any other patients. Dr John is one ethical doctor who will not overbook to cover for this type of sudden cancelations. It's sad that there are spoiled men/women like this patient who called in, who seem to glory in defacing a great doctor with high ethical standards and force some doctors to over-book.
