After multiple unanswered calls, texts, and voicemails, I finally reached him through the office. He acknowledged seeing my messages and promised to come by on July 24 or 25, but again failed to follow through or respond. No work was performed and I did not lose money, but I lost valuable time while my roof may be sustaining additional rain damage. I would have preferred a direct answer if he could not or did not want the job rather than repeated promises with no follow-through. I will not be working with City Builders.

The company runs like a well-oiled machine, with each person on the crew knowing exactly what they need to do to be efficient and productive. The entire driveway was torn out and replaced in two days. It was so great, that we added on another job, which they got right on and finished the next day. This add-on was to tear out crumbling steps to the sidewalk and replace them. It all looks fantastic. They had to deal with porches that are warped among other things, but did a wonderful job with all the challenges.

Main problem: they became busier than they could handle. Everything started to go wrong at the beginning of last spring. We had them come out to start up our irrigation system. They were hard to book. Didn't end up coming until June. Then parts on the irrigation valves had to be replaced even though they replaced them the previous spring. I'll explain more about the irrigation in a little bit. We booked them for all our lawn fertilization and weed control needs. There were supposed to be at least five applications. We only received three. They just couldn't get to us. My dad experienced the same problem at his house. At the beginning of the season they sent us a flier for care for ash trees. Saying they would come and put a protectant on the tree to protect it from ash bores. My husband called them on it twice. We never heard back from them. My husband called for a load of river rock to be brought to the house last summer. The receptionist told him she would not be able to schedule it. They were just too busy. Not let me give you a call later... Just no. So back to the irrigation. This spring we contacted a new company to start up our irrigation. Turns out the valves they replaced TWICE were installed upside down. So again they were busted and would need to be replaced. Nightmare. We literally spent thousands with wapsie pines in the two years we worked with them. But their I experienced workers and inability to take care of existing customers sours me. We're done with them.

Made a copy of the quote, details and plan layout and dropped off at their office in person and was told they would turn it in. Called at least 5 times last year saying they would call me back. Only received 2 calls back, and communication about my project was minimal. Kept getting excuses everytime I called. I'm sure my little $5000 project just wasn't enough that they wanted to do. Very poor customer service and extremely poor communication. Will not be using or recommending this place to anyone. Our project was the 1st phase of many which would've been quite expensive by the time all phases were completed, but I will be taking my money elsewhere.

Martinson Construction owns a few rental properties that they rent out. I happened to live in one…read moreof them over near Cedar Heights. And I honestly can't say enough good things about Martinson Construction's management of the property - and the property itself. We occasionally had issues, but after reporting it to them, our issues were generally solved within 24 hours - or at least we received an update about what they had done to start fixing it (order a part, schedule a company, etc.). Rent actually went DOWN while we lived there, and prices were comparable to around the neighborhood. A week or two was usually given as head's up when they needed to enter the unit. Everyone who entered was always friendly. The apartment itself was beautiful with lots of natural light. It was modern and well-insolated, and our heating/cooling bills were pretty low each month. Generally around $70 or $80. Neighbors were quiet and friendly, and it was just a great neighborhood. Absolutely no complaints about it - and we were sad to move.

What can I say about this company? From the front office operation to the installers, these folks…read moredid everything they could to make this experience easy for me. The installer went way over and above. The bidding process was standard and the pricing was fair (do your research, no fence is cheap). The length of delay (good summer months mean lots of people vying for their time) in installation was explained. Scheduling was exceptional - they worked it out so my dogs would have the least amount of time without their yard. Installation went smoothly and without a hitch - installer letting me know each day what was happening that day and the next until project completion. Fair pricing, good communication, helpful staff, and quality installation and product. I'd not go anywhere else for my fence and deck needs in the Cedar Valley.

After having new roof and gutters installed, found a few issues after a short period of time. The…read morebathroom vent on the roof, was smashed closed. I realized this when water started dripping from my bathroom ceiling after the next winters thaw (due to humidity buildup in my attic). The next thing found was with the gutters. They were not installed with a proper angle along the run, such that the water would drain to the downspouts. Result is multiple sections of the gutter hold a large portion of water until they slowly leak form the joints. When looking closer at these, one of the corner joints has come apart significantly, allowing water to drain back to the wood on the house. Called the representative and still no one shows up to fix the issues. Based on my experience, if you want a problem free job done at your house with good support of follow-up, then look for a different company to do your work.
