This is a reasonable request for any customer reviewing an invoice. When I later called to cancel a scheduled walkthrough, Patrick became very defensive and the conversation turned argumentative. He repeatedly interrupted me and insisted I had accused him of lying, which I did not. I was asking for clarification about the work performed. In addition, I received an unintended voicemail in which he was speaking with his wife, using profanity while complaining about my questions. During that conversation, his wife remarked, "geez, what do we have to wear cameras on all the jobs we do now?" Hearing a contractor speak this way about a customer was unprofessional and concerning. After this experience, I had another landscaping company review the work. They identified incomplete items, including an exposed wire that had not been buried and posed a tripping hazard, and completed the necessary fixes. Their pricing was also lower when broken down by line items and materials. Clear, respectful communication and accountability for billed work are basic expectations. Based on this experience, I would not work with him again and would recommend comparing other providers before moving forward.
