I went to Christian Roy's to get a balayage and I regret it. I worked with Haley, who is a lovely person and gave a great haircut, but the color appointment I had with her was expensive and turned out nothing like the way I had asked for. Prior to the start of our appointment, I shared some reference photos with Haley about how I'd like the balayage to look. We agreed that the blue would be darker and not the vibrant electric blue when it would be colored, but I still wanted the complete bottom part of my hair to be bleached and dyed (with my natural black hair fading into the blue as shown in the photos). When I left the salon, this is not the result I had as it looks more like highlights and it still looks mostly black at the bottom. Immediately after the appointment, I wrote to the salon about getting this fixed either through a refund or another appointment to fix it, free of charge, I was given the run around for a month. They eventually told me I would have to pay for another appointment and that I was not eligible for a refund, as Haley had apparently communicated that it would take several appointments to achieve what I wanted (not true -- if so, I wouldn't be here writing this review and would've had the right expectations). If Haley had communicated that or at least showed me pictures of what she was going to do instead, I may not have done the appointment at all. This cost me $350, not including tip. I'm ashamed I spent this much for what I got, so I just wanted to offer a word of caution to others (especially if you have dark, long hair like me) about what could happen. I went somewhere else and they were able to do what I wanted, and I wish I had gone there in the first place. read more

Well if you are looking for an overpriced salon for a simple color and your ends cut off then look no further because you have found your salon. I have been coming here for almost 3 years now. I always felt the prices were high but honestly I was too damn lazy to find another salon plus I loved my stylist as she is really good and so sweet. I went today and had my normal color (no highlights, very basic) and asked to have at least my ends trimmed off. I was not recreating my look. Again, just basic services. Normally, I would walk out of there before tip around 116 ish. Today was an exception and at first I thought I heard the receptionist incorrectly. The bill before tip was 160?! Huh.....I said ok...did your prices go up. She advised me as "such and such a date" we no longer bundle our prices. Ok. well if having my ends literally trimmed cost me more than 50 plus bucks you can keep your increase prices and I will no longer recommend this overpriced salon. For 16 years I had my hair down in S Florida so trust me I am use to inflated prices but this is sad and ridiculous. I will miss my stylist but the prices simply aren't worth the service. Also, I would like to add that in the past I had asked if not having my hair dried and styled would be cheaper but as of last year this salon charged the same price I am sure now that are adding all their al a carte prices so buyer beware. read more

This was my first time coming to this salon. I haven't had a hair cut or even a trim in a very long time. I don't really mess with my hair, I am the kind of girl that throws it up in a bun and runs. I finally got sick of my split ends and the shedding. Hayley was my hair dresser and she did an absolutely amazing job with my hair. I could not be happier. Moved up a month ago from Northern Virginia and I was super scared to have to find a new hair salon... After many many reviews through Yelp, Facebook, and google I had a great feeling with Christian Roy!! After emailing for a bit with Brittany who is amazing with getting back to you with emails, she will call if someone cancels she to see if your interested in an earlier apt... I booked an apt. with Katie Stamper and could not have been happier with my choice!! We met, consulted on what I was thinking/looking for, showed her pics, we went thru a hair color match book, and together decided on the best course of action- my hair needed lots of TLC, Katie highlighted my hair using Affinage- a European coloring system, used a protein treatment- Kevin Murphy, and gave me a beautiful hair trim!!! I found Katie to be amazingly easy to speak with, she was meticulous with my hair, didn't rush the service, she had very fluid hands- I never felt any scrapes with the comb as I did with other hairdressers at other salons!!! She did recommend hair products to help with getting back to healthy hair but never pushed it!! The salon has such a warmth to it, I also met Amber at the front desk who was very friendly!!! My haircut was decent, though not very flattering for a growing my hair out-look. I did have to trim some missed ends and unevenness when I got home. I was a little surprised at the prices, as they were a bit higher than on the website (on the booking section, they do not give the price for the stylist). When I asked the receptionist about their starting price, she said they hadn't been charging that base price for a while. I got the worst haircut of my life here. I had been growing it out for years so I could donate again and wanted to keep the length but add layers so it didn't look weighted down. The result was really choppy and uneven with one solid chin-length layer and a weird long tail. They graciously offered to try to fix it, but I had to cut it all off to make it even, and it's still not great. I've been wearing it in a half pony tail most days since. Very disappointed. Update: the salon reached out and offered to fix the haircut. Great customer service, I think I just had bad luck. read more

I've had Savanna my hair cut 3 times now and am leaving my second ever Yelp review to say what a great job she does; always thorough, very professional and friendly. Her cuts stay nice for a long time after they're done, which I'm sure speaks to her technique. Easy to talk to but never forces conversation, and consistently gives the best scalp massages I've had. I am a travel nurse and one of the draw backs from traveling is finding some place to get your hair done. If you are anything like me it's scary going to someone you don't know. This place rocks. I met Victoria and she did an awesome job. I got may hair cut and then came back later for a color. On top of being super friendly and professional, I had to change my appointment about a week before I was supposed to go. The scheduler worked tirelessly to figure something out and it eventually came down to Victoria coming in alittle early to get me taken care of on the day I needed to come. Finally a trendy cool place to get amazing color and cuts! After 3 years and 3 stylists in the area, I finally was referred to Olivia and will never need another stylist. She is smart and listened to me and did what I asked for. She also is cool so she knows the newest trends and will even teach you how to achieve the look at home. I was overwhelmed with happiness at the outcome of the color, cut and restorative treatment and was moved to hug her. After spending hundreds on masks and treatments - she restored my hair in one Keratin Express treatment after it had been chemically damaged by another salon. Pretty amazing experience and the salon has a referral program where you get 20% off your cut and any friend you refer to the salon also receives 20% off their first cut. Fabulous! read more

Having used salons in LA, West Hartford and Cheshire, CT, NYC and Pittsburgh I was nervous when we moved to rural NH. I made an appointment with Haley Keefe and crossed my fingers. She is now someone I will miss the very most when we leave the area, if I could take her with me I would. She is so talented and has been an amazing colorist and stylist. Friends back home ask where I get my hair done they love it so much- she's an artist. Hard to find that talent in the upper valley. She'd do amazingly well in NYC or LA. She makes the salon for me. They have beverages and snacks available, I only miss the glass of wine I had been used to at other salons. The parking is usually fine although a little tough at times- it's absolutely worth the hassle when it is one. They also have a great selection of products. read more

I've found my local/regular salon for haircuts and maybe other services despite my best efforts to wait until I'm back in San Francisco/Bay Area. That's what I did last winter. However, I couldn't put a haircut off any longer and based upon the recommendations of friends/colleagues, I went. So glad I did. Pros: fun atmosphere with snacks (cookies, gold fish crackers and beverages), good array of staff members with varying level of expertise, all at a not crazy over-priced cost for the area. I had Suzanne, who was very sweet and listened to what I wanted. She also said I should let her know if I had any questions after the appointment, etc. Also, they seem to have a word-of-mouth type discount-tell someone who about the place and get 20% off your haircut. Cons: Not sure yet but be sure to book your appointment sooner than later as they do book out. read more

Olivia is absolutely amazingly good at styling hair and listening to the customer. I have tried many places throughout Vermont and New Hampshire and not one person's work is even remotely comparable to Olivia's. I described what I wanted and her reaction was "you want your hair to look like a rocker's". YES!!!! YES OLIVIA YOU GOT IT!!! I hadnt even thought about that "rocker" label but she was spot on and did EXACTLY what I had been loooking for. I have been describing what I wanted done to others for the past 2 years but always was given a preppy cut- the opposite of what I wanted. Olivia, on the other hand, listens and is creative If you want young and hip go to her. Super cheap too!! read more

My actual hair cut was great. However, the pricing listed under their services are greatly different than what you actually pay. Under their "hair services" menu on their website its lists a woman's haircut as "39+" which I found reasonable. However, when I went to pay I was charged $56! While I got a good haircut I won't be returning due to the lack of transparency in their pricing. I've never paid so much for a cut in my life. read more

I have been getting my hair cut by Lisa for two years now and she rocks! I am very picky about my hair but I totally trust her because she really knows what she's doing. My hair comes out great every time. I recently had the CHI straightening done and I absolutely love how it came out! My hair looks AMAZING. I am in the area temporarily and came with long hair that was driving me crazy. I made a call for an appointment, with the first available stylist, and in 2 weeks I was in having Suzanne cut off all my hair. She did an excellent job, especially since I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking to do with my hair. She was helpful in telling me about the products she was using, and why she was using them, and taught me how to style my hair easily at home. I love my new hair cut, and I get compliments all the time on it. I would definitely go back if I am in the area again. The salon was cute as well, and the other stylists were also friendly, and encouraging as the locks started to drop. I was pleased with my whole experience. read more

My hair stylist was very sweet and friendly. She answered all my questions and introduce me the products that fit my hair. I ended up buying 3 products and happily prepared heading home. However, at the end of checking out, the receptionist was chatting with other ladies and even didn't look at me or say goodbye to me.... can you imagine saying "have a good day" and totally got ignored? it's a small thing but leave a big impact! read more

Overall when I finally got into my appointment, the Salon experience was good. I arrived 5 mins early for my appointment when I was told they actually didn't have me scheduled until 2 hours later! So strike one because I know I had the time correct! So I came back for my appointment with Suzanne and she provided snacks and soda and in the end I loved my color but the cut was/kind of odd and just very jagged on the ends which makes it look uneven and disheveled. The other thing I didn't like was the price! She said while she was washing my hair "ok now I'm going to deep condition your hair" with some kind of softening treatment of some sort. I just thought this was the conditioner they used as that was the extent of it. Apply, and rinse. Little did I know I was charged for this without telling me first and I think it was around $75! My total appointment for a cut and color cost over $200 with this treatment they threw in there! I would go back for the color but nothing else! I booked a second appointment for which again they got the time wrong for so they just left me a message giving me a new time for which I hadn't agreed to. Not super impressed! read more

I've been getting my haircut here for the last year and wish I had given it a try earlier. Their new renovated salon is gorgeous, with lots of natural light but the same lovely snack bar. The stylists I've had have been great (three total, but I remember Suzanne and Victoria in particular) They are all pleasant to talk to, good at their job, and give fabulous scalp massages. The haircut is always just what I want (and they always manage to intuit what I mean based on my vague descriptions and pintrest pictures). After going a full year without a cut, I was in dire need/disaster territory, looking on yelp I saw that a fellow gent had given Olivia's work glowing remarks and so, following suit, I made an appointment and now I'm typing my first yelp review to mention that yes indeed she's superb. She easily translated my incoherent description of what I wanted, put her own little twist on it, and proceeded to knock it out of the ballpark.
