So we are very careful where we seek legal advice and go professional contact/ referrals all the way . I am very very lucky to have this. We were introduced to Bill Michelson JUST as my husband was recovering from 5 major huge surgeries . My husband had been so ill that we had almost zero income the entire 13 months of his non stop major operations. Mn even gave us food stamps fuel assistance that year! Huge blessing to have received! ( thank God he is fine now). He also lost his mom and brother in the middle of all this and was on strictly monitored major pain killers for 9 of those months. So my husband was "not totally mentally cognizant " in monitoring detailed projects during this time ( 5 rounds of anesthesia " stay in your system a good 12 months" said his back fusion/ diskectomy surgeon. SO... We were a very vulnerable scared couple when we walked in. ( almost all our bills were up to date-- he told us to stop paying everyone that first meeting ) First, Bill was a total stranger to us. My husband has never met him before, and we paid him fairly honestly like all clients He put us IMMEDIATELY at ease and gave us MASSIVE relief when he said that first meeting ," don't worry.... Your terrible physical and economic situation totally understandable after all these surgeries places you in a good situation... I can definitely talk to all your creditors, explain your dire situation today... And there is a good chance we can not only get them to work with us favorably , but I am confident I can get them to cooperate with us And have them lower your debt as well ." I have these as notes from my meeting . You have NO idea the massive waves of relief that rushed through us after hearing those words . So we automatically trusted him 100 % on the spot primarily from the referral and from his wonderous words . Why wouldn't we ??!! I immediately started the 2 years of repairing painting the house then finally packing and moving in December 2015. I left all the legal " mumbo-jumbo" to my husband. 18 months later when our house would not sell and it became upside down/ short sale , Bill found us an excellent realtor of short sales and was our closing attorney as well! We met with him a few times but worked primarily via phone (note: every minute on the phone the attorney's $ meter is ticking) I believe we paid him $10,000+ approx ( I found all bill's letters in my husbands desk... Unopened. Bill would call him tell him what we owed, Jon would pay.) Late August September 2015 we met with Bill. He said," I did not work on your debt overall... I did not want to do anything negative to your credit that would adversely affect the sale of your house (accepted an offer late October 2015)." I just listened nodded had no idea in general what was going on-- I had been feverishly packing . ... But we met with him a GOOD year before putting the house on the market......why didn't you call our creditors asap? We were up to date on many, not all. He DID work on just one debt (Winter 2016) with one creditor (they had filed a formal law suit against us) and negotiated them down 1/4-1/3. We met this spring 2016 and I mentioned to him that we were thinking of meeting with Lutheran Family Svces for in-depth financial guidance. He IMMEDIATELY was agitated excited raised his voice ( 1st time ever ) and said, " don't do that! You don't need them you have me." To make a long story short: we DID go to Lutheran Family Svces on Park ave in Minneapolis and got OUTSTANDING advice!!! We also learned from them that Bill had DONE ZERO... that ALL our DEBT was now 100 % charged out!! Zero negotiations zero reduction of debt. Zero promises . We were in TOTAL shock...... This has put us in very grave circumstances. And Lutheran Family Svces could do nothing to help nor save us... Toooo late...... I did indeed call him about a week later, late at night. and left a message stating that Lutheran Family Services offers outstanding assistance-- exactly the kind of guidance I had been fiercely looking for five years.... that they were NO threat to his work for our amt of debt was too high. I did end by saying honestly that he should have guided us to them years ago, for they could have greatly helped us....AND I let him know I was VERY very angry. He IMMEDIATELY dropped us. Lutheran Family Services is the BEST place to start. Go call make an appointment WAY before you get behind in your bills. They are a non-profit organization that has helped Minnesota individuals and families for years and years... for free. We shall survive, but avoid offers of " loan consolidation"!!!

I happen to have sold my home of 19 years to Mr Steven Tight in St. Louis Park who was trying to bully me to swindle $50,000 from me by forming a nexus with "professionals" Brian from Barnwood Group and Mr. Mr. Mark Vyvyan from Fredrickson & Byron PA with the scare of an expensive legal case which I could ill-afford and/or using their positions in bad ways. He bullied me and I do believe he either bullied the city of SLP or used his attorney status and his so called knowledge of the laws of SLP against me (suggesting felony and misdemeanor occurrences ) and since I was not in the country they went along with him - as the director of inspections and the city attorney went to do his bidding or dirty work in the early parts of this saga. He sent this to me to bully me in my opinion. "If the Mehtas have a competent attorney involved, we welcome the opportunity to work with him or her and hope that their involvement provides an opportunity to impart some much needed order and perspective to this transaction. Please provide us with the name and phone number of that firm and attorney, and either Steve Tight will reach out directly or have his attorneys contact Mehtas' lawyer. Tights are represented by Fredrikson and Byron, PA - where Steve was a partner for over 10 years prior to joining Optum's General Counsel's office. Their real estate group is one of the best in town." He also sent this: "Tights' experts and contractors best estimates of the cost to resolve all the items on that list are in excess of $30,000 (one estimate was closer to $50,000) and those same experts have suggested that it will take a minimum of 6 weeks to arrange for and complete the work before SLP could come back in and do their re-inspections, etc. " He also sent this: "Failing to do so and trying to close without one is a further / continued violation of the SLP city code, it's a crime and it would subject Mehtas to a range of sanctions or penalties from the city of SLP, including a citation or citations, the filing of an enforcement action by the SLP city attorney, and/or the filing of a petition for a temporary restraining order or an injunction to prevent the closing from occurring. The Tights have lived in SLP for the last 14 years, they will be SLP residents going forward once they complete the purchase and they have a good, close working relationship with SLP and intend to maintain those relationships and abide by the city of SLP code to the letter." ____________ Well, I was in India for over 6 months due to the fact that my mother in law and my father had died earlier the previous year and I needed to be in India. Mr Steven Tight in my absence along with their personal friend who owns The Barwood Group in SLP (who gave his professional estimate of 30,000 to 50,000) which was then sent to me via friend/past colleague Mr. Mark Vyvyan from Fredrickson Byron worked hard to get $30,000 or $50,000 out of me. Mr. Mark Vyvyan is a litigator, known for winning important cases for his clients in real estate - but in this case he represented Attorney Steven Tight for an underhand deal in my opinion. At one time I had to laugh when Mark came back and said at least give us the $7,500 that I offered as a settlement - but the game was over I figured the SLP laws out and called them out and I had to say you get zilch. However they failed miserably. I came back from India after have felt so harassed by them and fought back. "The ALMIGHTY professionals" in their field failed to bully me for the following reasons 1. Unfortunately for them I am an educated woman 2. I am an attorney, too 3. My father was one of the best attorneys of Mumbai and was elevated to the Bombay High Court. I have been around the best legal minds and they did not scare me. 4. I went to the city of St. Louis Park and looked at all the laws and got the job done for $1500 instead of giving then the $30,000 to $50,000 they were asking for . 5. He said he can't help and this is after 2 hours of emailing back and forth when I needed same day service. So it was time wasted. I would not recommend their services. I had all legal documents needed and they gave me the run around. Very disappointed by this! Correction to your reply I told you prior that the court was paying and when I asked you to supply a letter that you wouldn't ask me to pay and also ask the court to pay you that is when you refused service which tells me you were going to double dip and get paid twice for one service.
