Great Preschool for my kids and wonderful community for parents. Just moved to town and met so many friends for both myself and my children.

I've had a lot more daycare experience under my belt since I've left Old Hill. Bright Horizons,…read moreKindercare, Goddard, and Primrose. Having a kid and sometimes moving. . .keeping an eye out for the best daycare for my two kids old hill remains the worse of these daycares. The staff was good enough. . .but honestly, staff ratings across these daycares are always good. Old Hill staff is no better than Bright Horizon (top employer by fortune) or Kindercare (maybe the cheaper of these). What makes this place so bad, was the incredible amount of "We are a westport daycare, how dare you think we need to take your needs into account". This place was closed more often than local schools, and more often than any daycare i've done business with. The larger daycares are open EVERY snowday, even the big ice storm that came through. . as long as they had power. These guys would close if they thought that maybe, eventually, someone might slip. School systems have to close, sometimes, they have bus. Yet my work (a large insurer) doesn't close if the school system is closed. My wife work doesn't close if the school system is closed. these guys remain the most ridiculous, ill fitting, don't get why they exist daycare. Seriously - you can do better; and cheaper - I did multiple times over. Maybe the other reviewers should try another daycare, before posting a glowing review about incompetence.

I have to say, from being a teacher with 20 years in ECE, this school's staff is wonderful!! The teachers are so caring, loving, and gentle with the children. I have been in day care centers that would scare you the way they treat the children. Not so here. The staff is incredible with the children, and extremely conscientous. Their love for the children is evident, and I would not hesitate to leave my child in their care.

Not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. The teachers are all so kind and loving. The director and office manager are so helpful and have an open-door policy if you ever have any concerns or questions. One thing that I think is great is how they deal with conflict. A child is not put in a time out chair. They work with the children on conflict resolution having the children express their feelings and how better to solve their issue. The theme that surrounds each day at St. Paul Christian School is love and kindness to all. The community of parents are the most down to earth and kind people. I urge anyone who is looking for a preschool to check it out and bring your little one in too. They have 1's-kindergarten. They started a new EARLY 2's program which is great for ones you feel may be on the young side to start too.

We had no idea that the school would very quickly come to feel like a second home to our son and a second family to the rest of us. The teachers couldn't have been more creative, stimulating and nurturing in their teaching, and our son grew more academically AND emotionally/socially than we have ever thought possible. We are so grateful for the time and energy spent by all to help our son transition to a new school and to welcome our entire family to a new community. It was such a tremendous experience that we have now decided to not only keep our son there for his kindergarten year but also to enroll our daughter in the 3's program. We are thrilled that we have more years left to enjoy and participate in the gem that is St. Paul!!!!

I write this review to spare other families from having the experience…read morewe had with this school. A week into our move to Westport, our son started at Saugatuck Nursery and the experience was so upsetting that I felt compelled to share this review. Considering we are in the middle of a global pandemic, which resulted in us having to leave our community of over 15 years and our son's school of 2 years, with no access to immediate family or other children to socialize with (all while both of us worked full time), you would think any person, especially educators would be more compassionate and equipped to help a child transition into a new school and community after months of relative isolation. At SNS, the expectations was for my child to immediately adjust. After 2 days of attendance (~8 hours of observation) we were taken aside and told their were troubling signs about our son and presented with a laundry list of negative criticism. We were honestly taken aback by the speed with which they rushed to judgement as well as the manner in which they delivered the feedback. The feedback over the subsequent two weeks was not provided in a professional or solution-based way; it was curt, critical and complaining in tone. I would never provide feedback to a professional colleague, let alone to a 3 year old in the way they communicated and delivered feedback. The staff were short, condescending and quick to point out if any mistakes were made either by us at drop offs (the way families stand in line and sign in) or by our child. The school does not seem equipped or experienced to handle any situation or child that does not immediately conform to their rigid mold which speaks to their lack of positive, solution-based teaching. When they perceived he was having a hard time acclimating (again - within a week) rather than offer advice or a transition plan, they criticized him for not immediately adopting to the new routine and told us that they had asked children to help correct our son when he did something they deemed wrong, as if they were pitting the rest of the class against him (we had never heard of such an approach!). Even tiny details from the way he painted to his interest in Star Wars were diagnosed as troublesome behaviors. In our experience with our previous school, feedback was always given in a professional, solution-based manner and in a way that supported the child and family. When we asked if we could unenroll if it was not a good fit, we were told verbatim "that he would have the same problem wherever we go" as if after two weeks they had determined that our child was destined to have problems forever. Of course, this was not a professional or helpful, nor was it consistent with any feedback we had ever received from our son's original school (which he attended for 2 years) prior to the pandemic. After two weeks, we pulled him and enrolled in a new school - A Child's Place - and wow - what a difference! The school has been amazing and welcoming. We are so happy to find a more professional, positive, and supportive environment and our son is thriving, learning and growing each day. The teachers and staff are friendly and communicative. Their teaching philosophy and education approach are much more contemporary and up-to-date. SNS may have 30 years of business experience but they need to catch up on current childhood education and also revisit their school culture. Their lack of empathy and rush-to-judgement of a small child in the middle of a global pandemic was shockingly tone-deaf. I would not recommend this school at all.

We were shocked to find out that our son knows basic sign language! The teachers at Primrose are amazing and will keep you up to date with your child's progress and daily activities complete with photos throughout the day, that was a really nice touch for parents getting back to work after the pandemic and seriously missing our kids faces! The food they serve the kids is balanced and varied so even picky eaters will learn to appreciate and try new foods. Our son will miss Primrose as he enters kindergarten but I feel his time there has set him up to be ahead of his peers in terms of academics, and he's also learned valuable social skills that he will need to navigate the complex relationships of public school. All in all we give Primrose an A+, they really thought this through and created a great preschool program.

You like alter the truth to fit your narrative. I tried to respond to your response. Your establishment left me and my husband without childcare without any notice at all because you hire people with no manors or respect and it's not the first time that's been done to a family. But that is ok because rejection is protection. The same teacher I complained about was fired months after I complained about her for taunting another student, but I guess our son didn't deserve that same respect in your eyes.. or meet the criteria? I'm not sure but I stand on what I said. She kicked my son's cot with her foot while he was laying there right by his head and left eye. Also not perception, I watched it on Watch Me Grow. This establishment won't pull the audio that I asked for because it would validate what we already know. Your response is exceptionally telling and it proved my point. You're sorry for "my perception of how things happened?" It's not a perception, it's what happened: things I've documented, things my husband and I have seen/ heard walking in there. Please let's not go here. I have literal videos of me recording my son getting out of our car to start his day, and you can HEAR how the teachers are talking to these small children on the playground. I've heard staff talk horribly about parents, about how the children are dressed I could literally go on forever. And the ONLY reason my son continued to go there for as long as he did was because of his infant teacher, and the teacher he had right before he was asked to leave. You asked him to leave because we called out your staff, not because of his behavior, which is also very telling. Our boy is sweet, so to have a grown women tell staff members that she didn't want to have a 2 year old in her class when he wasn't even in her class yet "because the parents are crazy ?!?" he's done nothing to her is absolutely insane. If you never noticed when his teacher wasn't there I kept him home with me because I didn't trust any other staff, which was exhausting . Your turn over rate is high because you will continue to hire people that are not qualified because you want to pay bare minimum. This daycare is truly a parents worst nightmare. You will continue to back your staffs bad behavior. I wish all parents knew how these small children that cannot are talk are talked to and treated and that's also not perception it's just reality. The entire school is a soap opera, and the staff cry to the owner as soon as they are called out. My son goes to an amazing school now where all of the teachers are required to have an actual degree and have extensive Montessori training to help them thrive and where we are appreciated as parents and not gaslit into believing we are seeing and hearing things. We're valued for wanting our son to be treated like a human. So funny how we've never had a single issue at any other school (he's been to 1 other daycare after this and now an actual school) except HT then again we don't have to tell the teachers how to treat our child here, and are treated like family instead of dollar signs. But keep talking about families and kids in your group chat. Talking about children and their families is so unprofessional and shows how miserable the staff is within their own lives and we are not that way and it's not the kind of energy we'd want around our family anyway. Take care. Please don't respond me to again.
