You'll find people engaged in all sorts of activities ....eating, drinking, dancing, and socializing. Andale is the place to have a great time. Today, for some reason, the restaurants and bars on the street seemed less crowded. It was a Wednesday night when we finally stepped foot into Andale's. We ordered margaritas, shots of anejo tequila, and a beverage; we had already had dinner elsewhere. The DJ was playing a mix of 90s R&B, reggaeton, country, and pop music, and the whistle blowing from the staff added to the lively and exciting atmosphere. I must admit, though, the loud whistle blowing now and then annoyed me, I managed to drown it out somehow. If you plan to visit Andale, expect fun and lively atmosphere with plenty of staff ready to serve you.

After a long morning of walking and exploring, I was ready for a good lunch. I had a place in mind,…read morebut it wasn't open yet, so I kept wandering... and that's when I passed right through Andale's. The sidewalk actually runs right between their outdoor seating and the entrance, so you can't help but notice it. It looked relaxed, not too busy, and the staff greeted me as I walked by. I took a quick look at the menu, spotted my favorite tacos, and that was all I needed--I stayed. I asked to sit outside since it was such a beautiful day, with a gentle breeze coming through. Perfect setting. I ordered a beer, some guacamole and chips to start, and the al pastor plate. The guacamole was a great portion--easily enough for two--and I loved that it was chunky with a nice texture and "bite" to it. It came with chips and salsa, making it a solid starter. Then came the al pastor tacos... so good. At first glance, I didn't see any pineapple and thought, wait a minute... but once I took a bite, I realized it was mixed in with the meat--little bits of sweetness tucked into the savory, slightly charred pork. That balance of flavors really brought it together. Service was friendly and attentive, and I noticed a few regulars stopping by and chatting with the staff. That's always a great sign--it tells you this place has a real connection with the people who come here often. Overall, great food, great service, and a welcoming vibe. I'd definitely come back again.

Martini and cocktails signage caught our eye and so we stayed. Two or so hours, three dirty martinis, tequila shot and a glass of mineral water later, we found our new small spot. All staff were welcoming and friendly. Chairs and tables were available. The ceiling fans were on full blast. Lots of action inside and outside bar. It appeared patrons that came to Apaches were more on the mature and calmer side. Not so obnoxious as with other nearby bars. Special thank you shout out to Daniel, our server. We also had the pleasure of meeting co-owner Ricardo....personable, fun-loving and welcoming. Overall, we had a great time! The staff is cool and the regulars are friendly, but I've never been fond of the drinks. The ones I've had just haven't been all that great. However, that's just me... my brother and several friends love the place. Apaches offers a great atmosphere, friendly service, and affordable prices. My brother did taste one of my drinks, though, and frowned. He agreed that it wasn't very good. One night the bartender did bring us out free shots, which was very nice of him. The shot was the best thing I had there! The location is small on the inside, but we've always sat outside anyway. It's a great way to people-watch and just soak up the sun. Obviously, the bar caters to the LGBTQIA community, but as a straight female, it's always felt inclusive to me.

Well, for Jamie W and me, our days of nocturnal social boozing are well behind us. Maybe I can see them in the rearview mirror of life because memories can be closer than they appear in reality. Know what I'm sayin'? Anyhow, we arrived here in the middle of a Sunday afternoon when it was almost as still as a tomb. Except for one older guy (a relative term) who kept changing his seat presumably to see if he could get a better view of the passing beef. The bartender was a bit lethargic as he waited for the ice machine to be ready before offering their signature drinks. Jamie ordered the MX$130 Mr. Flamingo, a tantalizing tango of rum, banana liqueur, and cranberry juice. Just to be different or maybe contrary, I went with the MX$130 Flamingo Tikki, a Tequila Sunrise takeoff with Absolut mango, orange & cranberry juice, and grenadine (Photo 10). They were the right libations at the right place but maybe not so much the right time.
