So I've only used Orser Landscaping twice and only for snow removal of my driveway. First job request was fulfilled and completed to satisfaction. The second job request wasn't fulfilled in the time needed for us to go to work the next day. While I understand Orser Landscaping was trying to fulfill many requests after a large snow storm, and I ultimately notified Orser Landscaping to cancel my request once they couldn't meet my suspense time and knowing I would forfeit my deposit, the communication just wasn't there. I made three inquires through out the day to get a status and unfortunately none of them were acknowledged. Shit happens and I get it, but it would have been appreciated to get a response even if would have been late. read more

Pics worth 1000 words. This happened 4 TIMES!! Look at my profile pic and see pics. Stay Away! Please do yourself a favor and read this. Do not get involved w/ this guy. I contacted him for install of a French drain. Did some comparison with other contractors & selected this guy. Bad Mistake!! I noticed that some of the reviews on this guy were not too very good. Allot of talk about not returning phone calls, rudeness, etc., I didn't see it until I needed him to come back after installation. Now I saw exactly what these reviews were referring to. Installation no problem, try getting him to come back was a nightmare! Here is the story: Had a French drain installed in Fall. Job was good. Nothing spectacular, it's a French drain. We were happy. Drain flooded in Late Fall. See pic. We had a brutal winter in 2013/14, where snow piled on top of snow. After one heavy wet snow, my patio was flooded & water was not draining. It was deep and approaching our patio doors leading into the house. The drains were full. I contacted Orser. I told him what was going on. He asked me to go to side of house where drain outlet dumps out from back. The tubing is all underground. He asked me to look for the opening. There was none. It was underground. He told me to relieve some of the pressure. So I had to dig up some of the lawn and expose the drain tubing as it was apparent the opening was buried. I had to dig up about six feet of grass/mud about 2 inches deep to expose the tubing so that the water could up and out. Once I did this, you could see the water pouring out. Orser said he was busy with snow removal. He said he would look at first thing in Spring and fix the small section of drain that I had to expose (black netting surrounding tube had been tore in places). Actually there was nothing to do, excpet put dirt back into the trench. A very small job, but Orser said he would come in Spring. We persevered through Winter and Spring came. I contacted him in Spring. This is where I came to understand the poor reviews. I did exactly what this guy told me to do with respect to relieving some pressure for the drain and now he was back tracking and getting very defensive as if I was blaming him for the problem. I wasn't. The drain ending was buried & all I did was ask him to help with a solutionin short term. He told me what to do and that he would come out in Spring. He did not keep his word and many times the conversation was quite heated. What type of professional is going to argue with his customers? We were not requesting anything other than what he said he would do. He finally comes out in May. The opeing was not buried by weight of snow. It was by design. We oncovered the opening and all the rocks they had put there were right in front of exit. The opening should have been exposed, not buried. He did not even know where the opening was and thought that marks left by verizon for FIOS install were made by his guys. Are you kidding? He wanted to charge us to come out. There was no damage. We just him to put the dirt back on correctly. He is supposedly the expert. This guy does not care.He I recommended him to my neighbor and he gives my neighbor an estimate. My neighbor told me that he thought this guy was arrogant & rude. He wanted him to come back down for questions, and Orser said, "what questions?". My neighbor could not believe that this guy's demeanor & attitude. Did he want the job or not? He was like screw him. I felt the same way unfortunately I wish I would have known before I used him. There are plenty of people to pick from. My neighbor did not use this guy because of his lack of professionalism. I'm glad they did not use him as I would feel like a jerk recommending him when I am having my own problems with him. My neighbor's contractor was kind enough and professional enough to fill in the trench with dirt. It took 5 minutes. I was sick & tired of Orser. He's rude & arrogant. He doesn't take kindly to anything that implies something is wrong with this perfect work, which is not perfect by any means. I never blamed his work. I blame him for not standing by his word to come down and help after telling us how to remedy the problem in the short term. I can't tell you how many times I contacted this guy. He's always annoyed & you have to keep calling, but it still does no good.We wasted allot of time with this clown. It's beyond me how anyone would treat their customers this way. This guy is a bad business person. He does not stand by his word & he argued with his customer. Too defensive and takes it all personal. There are plenty of contractors out there. He did a good job of installing, but once it is installed, he left us out to dry. Heed the advice, pick someone else. I wish I would have picked the guy my neighbor did. He helped us by filling in dirt. It took no time at all. He was amazed that Orser wanted to charge us to come out for something so easy and the fact it was not even a year old. read more

Called Chris early in April. Very responsive in coming over and discussing the plan I wanted to landscape my front yard plus doing a walkway. I was impressed with his knowledge and saying he wanted to get back to his roots and do landscape design and much less of his lawn maintenance. I had a goal of at least mid June for him to get the job done, telling him I had a big reunion that I wanted it to look great for. He kept dragging me along and promised it would be done. Well, that did not happen. Never came, never called or answered my texts. I have NEVER come in contact with such unprofessionalism. I would have at the least appreciated him being honest and telling me that he over booked or some unforeseen circumstance. I paid hi $200 deposit, and the only thing I received from the deposit was a one time weed kill application. Very Very Unfortunate ............ read more

I hired this company after getting estimates to chip a pile of brush we had left from hurricane Sandy. Not only was their bid the most competitive that we found, their service was excellent. The 2-man crew was polite, careful and neat. They followed my instructions to the letter, and left the chips in a pile right where I asked, and blew the woodchips off the truck while it was in the street - then blew those chips into the rest of the pile. NOTE: If you find a one-star rating on this site and others, look carefully at the date that they were submitted. I found no less than SIX, posted on the same day (11/4/11) by, as far as I can tell, the same guy with an axe to grind. I also found about seven 4-5 stars ratings on various sites that appeared to be genuine, posted on various days for various jobs. read more

Don't be fooled by fancy website. Besides a nightmare of our French drain, we set up appointment to pick out two pear trees for Chris Orser to plant. The place where trees are looks nothing like that!! I went to business as was prearranged with him on a specific date. He was not there, so I had to call him. This place is very strange. It did not look like a business at all as in was in back of someone's house. The place where trees are looks nothing like that!! I ordered two trees over the phone as no one was even there to meet us. We ordered two pear trees and he assured us that he would plant the trees and put dirt back on drain (not a huge deal) before May 30th as we wanted it done for our daughter's prom. Guess what? He never shows up. He never calls. Nothing. The only reason we were even buying trees from him was because he was going to come back and fill in dirt that we had to dig up to allow water to drain from french drain he installed after it backed up and flooded our patio FOUR TIMES!!!. The opening to the drain was buried underground by design. When we had to dig out the opening to allow water to drain, my husband dug about 6 foot length, 2 inches deep on top of drain to allow water to flow out. He contacted Chris Orser during the second time it flooded and he asked us to look for opening. Well there was none as it they buried under the ground. He told my husband to relieve some pressure, so he removed some grass and top dirt to expose the drain so water could flow out. He said he would come in Spring. He never came out four times to check drain. We waited all Winter and as soon as Spring came, we contacted him as he told us to. It was nothing but one call after the next with the brush-off. He wanted to charge us to come out. He buried the opening. There was no damage to the drain at all. We wanted him to come out and just put the dirt back on to make sure it was done correctly, thats all! You think he would want to see it. Anyway, another landscaper who did our neighbor french drain, topped off the dirt for us. It took 5 minutes. Chris Orser wanted to charge us to come out. We have no reason to post a bad critique on a business that stands by their work. The fact is he did not keep his word. We waited all Winter and a good part of Spring and in the end he never did anything. He told us what to do and left us stranded. It was no big repair job. He wanted 65.00 to come out. Could you imagine the gall? We contacted this business well over 20 times telling him the issue and he told us what to do and we did. Then he wanted to charge us. Could you imagine?. This happened four times. Not even a year old. He says there was damage that my husband caused. There was no damage at all, we just wanted him to fill in the dirt and rewrap about 3 inches of tubing to make sure it was done correctly. He refused. Another contractor did it for us. I don't think anyone would be happy if they paid to have a french drain installed and since it has been installed (not even a year old), our patio and garden beds have flooded four times!! read more

Just recently, Chris was very responsive to us when we called him to help manage a crisis of sorts... More than 10 years ago, Chris' people installed a stone cap onto our large and drab concrete walkway. We talked with several contractors and chose Chris Orser based on his portfolio and price. He wanted the job at the time; a few years later, he told me that he underbid and took a loss on the project. We continued to use his landscaping services for a while thereafter, but his business sweet-spot is Doylestown and New Hope, not Newtown. The stone-capped walkway is beautiful; it adds significantly to our curb appeal. While we were recently in the middle of relocating out of state, the moving company personnel mishandled a heavy wall unit and consequently, a step was broken. North American Van Lines was good about assuming responsibility for the repair; Chris was great about coming out promptly and supplying an estimate. Although he could have exploited the situation, he didn't. Both the moving company and we felt that Chris's estimate was reasonable. He completed the work as soon as the materials arrived and the weather allowed him to set the stone properly. Everyone has to find their way in the business world: I think Chris is maturing in his relationships with customers and with his workers. Under no circumstances do business with Chris Orser. Everything about my encounter was fishy: no phone calls returned, work done that I did not authorize, exorbitant pricing...when I came to pick up my string trimmer and small Honda tiller that I had left for standard autumn servicing, I was stunned by Chris' rudeness as he stated I owed him $250 for replacing a bunch of stuff I was never told about. "I tried to call you...." was his excuse. He didn't have trouble ORIGINALLY calling me back to tell me to bring it in and give directions though. When I asked why he had not returned my call a week earlier, when I left a message asking what was going on with my equipment, he stated he had "been in Kentucky." Then he got rude and whipped out a calculator to show me how much I saved going to him...the whole operation is strange, located behind a house where a Mexican guy seems to live in a garage. This guy does all the work, but Chris deals with customers and (no doubt) pockets most of the cash. I was totally delighted with the services provided by Chris Orser Landscaping. After Hurricane Sandy we were left with many fallen trees and damage to landscaping. When I noticed a yard sign across the street - Tree Service...I called right away. To my surprise Mr. Orser was willing to come right over to take a look at the job. After looking over the work he was up for the job. Two weeks later (my schedule) his team was on the property dealing with the trees, bushes, and landscape lighting and in one and half days we were back in business including our landscape lighting which saved us from going back to the landscape lighting company. His team were professional and cleaned up the site after. This is one happy customer. I have since requested Chris return to look over a new project to which I know now - no job is too big for this guy. Thanks for the great service! read more

We have used Chris Orser Landscaping for over 15 years. Their lawn service is always reliable and the crew does a very thorough job of edging and there are never any missed spots or uneven cuts. We have also used his services for spring clean up (very thorough), mulching (provides the correct amount and depth and doesn't kill plants), and supplemental plantings for our landscape. My calls have always been returned promptly and landscape items I purchased through him had a warranty which was honored when the plant died. His summer crews are very hardworking and precise. For something like major drainage issues I would probably seek an engineer; I never used his company for such issues so I cannot comment on this aspect. read more
