They are having a special display of one of Shakespeare's plays, one of the oldest New Testaments, even artifacts from King Nebuchadnezzar's palace. They will all be on display which will be quite amazing to see. This is a must see in Manchester! Truly amazing how it has stood the test of time.

Potter-heads would appreciate the look and feel inside the library is inspired the design for Hogwarts. I'm not sure if the Factory Records exhibit is still on display, but I'm a huge fan of Factory Records bands (ie. New Order, Joy Division, Happy Mondays etc.) and bands that came out of Manchester, the Smiths, James, Buzzcocks, The Fall to name few. It was an experience seeing original handwritten lyrics, instruments played, old punk zines, photos and badges on display.

And it was an experience, a really good one actually. Very interesting watching dodgy people state their cases and get thier just reward. Soon figured out why I never became a judge. I would have Jailed everyone for life for anything and everything hee hee. I think it would be good for everyone to sit in and watch a few sessions and see how the legal system at that level works.

The reason I have chosen this library to write about is because of the architecture. The stone carvings around the outside staircase are breathtakingly ornate and in good condition. They contain mythical gargoyle/falcon type creatures breathing reams of material which link the archways. There are some really ugly buildings in Armley but like this library there are also some beautiful ones, the prison is another example.

Situated in the Town centre of Chorley, this majestic library has served the people of Chorley well…read morefor a number of years. Previously The original grammar school in Chorley, the library is set on two floors and has good disabled access to both levels. The ground floor has a large children's library, and adult section. There are a selectin of DVD'S, CD's and papers as well. To the left of the main entrance is also a well resourced Internet room, although it is not very private as the desks are all open. There is a small charge for photocopying and printing of documents. Upstairs is a well resourced research room, with large tables to work in comfort. The library is constantly evolving and i think it has lost something in that where the reader's come to look at papers there are no longer tables to sit at. Staffa are very knowledgeable and helpful, although sometimes there could do with a few extra on especially on Saturdays. Parking is limited and it is very hard to manoeuvre in the tiny car park, although it is free. There are a number of events held there, art exhibitions, local memorabelia, children's story hour. We have been members for a long time and can reccomend it highly.

There's not a fantastic array of books here, as i said, small library, but the librarians are happy to help and books which i've requested have come very quickly. At the moment there's about 8 computers, all with free internet. The children's section appears to be popular, and the library can get quite busy. To sum up, it's a good library. The staff are generally pleasant, there's not a dire lack of books, and the computer access is always available and very handy. It shuts on Wednesday, and it's not open anywhere near as long as the Chorley library, but it's highly valued and Adlington would be much the worse without it.
