The drinks are very good and offer a wide variety of different liquors so there is truly something for everyone. They do not have food, but there is a food truck right out the door that delivers to your table (also offers to go service), so it is a good option for casual drinks & dining. I wish the level of service matched the price point. I feel that I have come on nights where it hasn't been crowded, but the service is very slow and passive. My friend and I came here on a Tuesday night and it was empty - which was not surprising. They do not have any food, but there is a food truck outside if needed. They do have a good list of drinks. I got a 'Painkiller' and I don't remember what my friend got but she enjoyed it. The website is not updated either - I don't see most of the drinks on there. This was my second time coming here, mostly thanks to the awesome food truck parked outside! I'm a big fan of the tiki bar scene, but can I truly call this a tiki bar? I'm not sure. They definitely have tiki drinks many served in tiki mugs but the overall vibe leans more toward a sci-fi theme with robots and futuristic décor. The place itself is spacious, with plenty of seating both at the bar and in the surrounding booths. There's also outdoor seating available. I really appreciate that they have wait staff walking around, so you don't have to order directly at the bar. The bartenders and staff are super friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable. The drinks are strong and well-made. Parking, however, can be a real hassle depending on what time you come. I wish I could say that one experience doesn't ruin all past visits, but in this case it unfortunately does. I come to Chopper quite frequently but my most recent experience was one of the worst, and I'm not sure I'll be back. I expect busy nights to be a little slower service wise but everything about this experience was sub par. We were ignored for almost 30 minutes before being able to order another round. People came up and got service before us, bartenders passed us until finally we got someone's attention. When we finally got attention, we ordered our last round, closed out and the bartender just forgot about my drink. It was a canned beer mind you, but to pay for it, and then have to ask 10 minutes later what I ordered really sealed the deal for me. The presentation of the drinks left much to be desired as well. If I'm paying on average $15 a cocktail, I want my little garnishes. Sue me. Overall, I'm disappointed in the service and unfortunately won't be coming back for a while. This was a go-to stop for me and I would bring people from out of town here. I hope this was just a bad night and not the new normal. Chopper used to be a favorite spot in East for us, but the service has gone downhill drastically in recent years. Even when the bar is nearly empty, servers are incredibly slow and lackadaisical. Most recently we experienced bartenders and servers goofing around instead of working on a drink for us that had been ordered 15 minutes prior. I can understand slower service when the bar is packed, but there were less than 10 other people in the bar at this point. This is super disappointing as the drinks are great and the taco truck outside is amazing. These days, I generally recommend people to go to Coral Club across the street for drinks. They can make you any drink you would want from Chopper just as good if not better, and the service and atmosphere is so much better. The only reason we go to Chopper now is for the tacos from Maiz de la Vida, but it's almost better to just get it to go and eat the tacos elsewhere. read more

We came 2 nights in a row to the tiki Christmas bar. If Sunday had been our first visit, we might not have ever come back, but since our first visit was on Saturday and it went much more smoothly, we definitely liked it. The Saturday night bartender was attentive and very good whereas the Sunday night bartender was too busy talking and took forever to be acknowledged. It took 25 minutes to get a drink and only because the host guy finally came up and helped us. If you are busy you should at least acknowledge someone's presence and say you will be with them ASAP. The lighting on Saturday was good but on Sunday it's like they changed everything to blue and purple and you could not take any pictures it was so dark. The server on Sunday told me they don't have lemon juice so she couldn't make the Robo zombie as if that even makes a difference! Just put lime juice in it and move along. The drink was great and I didn't taste the lime juice at all so it made no difference. The Mexican food truck outside is very good!!! Chopper is a cool cocktail spot in East Nashville sitting on the corner of Stratton and Gallatin. The signage is small, but just look for the food truck and outdoor seating and you will soon see Chopper. As noted, Chopper is a cocktail bar only, so no food...but the aforementioned food truck has you covered there. We swung by on Sunday afternoon around 4:30 PM and the place was already busy, just 30 minutes after opening. We grabbed a table outside and moments later, a server came by and got the party started. While you can get basic cocktails, wine and beer...I don't know why you would want to since they offer a fun, flavorful and potent selections of tiki inspired cocktails. There are two drinks on the menu that you are only allowed to have one of, so naturally me and my buddy started with them. After having one of each "1 per person" drink, we were able to tell why they made that rule. Those drinks were delicious and STRONG! Those who got the less potent cocktails were equally as pleased, but not as visibly happy as us! The Puka Punch is where it's at! They have a solid menu of cocktails that stay on rotation, but they also release seasonal menu which are equally as good! Our server was friendly, helpful and overall joy to have. While we spent all our time outdoors, the inside was lovely, bright and true to theme. Booths lining the walls, lights lining the bar and tiki decor throughout. A fun and chill spot for a cocktail. Parking can be tricky depending on when you go. There is a small lot for the complex they are in, and if that is full then there are plenty of street spaces on the nearby neighborhood streets. Chopper was cool. Came here with a coworker about an hour before closing. We were able to get a seat in one of the booths, but it took a while for one of the waitresses to come over to the table and grab our order. To be fair she was working at the bar but it was close to closing not a lot of people and the people who were there had already had their drinks. They had also cut the music fr that entire time and all you could hear was the bartender speaking loudly about something that should've been let private. Now to the drink. I ordered a Tiger drink can't remember the exact name. But it was rum based drink served hot which was good. Came in a cute holiday themed grinch mug. We come to chopper once every 5-6 months, we bring guests from out of town here to show them a good time. We talk up the bar to out of town friends all the time, and tonight, we brought friends there that were visiting for a wedding. We ordered drinks around 9pm drinks hadn't come by 9:35 so we checked in with our waiter and he apologized. Told us the GM has a family crisis and had to leave and didn't prep juices. So due to that he said drinks were on the house. And they could only serve frozen drinks.so we placed a frozen drink order and those were brought to us. And the next time we came drinks would be on the house as well. He gave us his number and the bartender "Becketts" number. (I place his name in parentheses because we he approached our table demanding a card he told us a completely different name, in which our waiter said no- this is Beckett) our waiter then surprisingly returned 10-15 minutes later with the original drinks we ordered - almost an hour ago at this point- that we were told weren't able to be made due to the GM leaving and running out of juices. We tasted the drinks and found they were extremely watered down so we left those on the table for the most part after passing them around and tasting them between the group of us. and enjoyed our frozen drinks. We then asked for milk punches. Those were delivered by our waiter and then 5 ish minutes later Beckett came storming over to our table and demanded a credit card from us. He told us we were stealing from the bar and that our tab was over $162. we showed him the iPhone note that our waiter typed into our phones showing the phone numbers and the "IUO's" he refused to listen to us. He kept getting in our faces and demanding that we stole 3 rounds of drinks without giving a card. No matter what we told him he refused to listen. We called our waiter over and the waiter pushed beckett the bartender away and told him that it was all taken care of. We gave the waiter $140 as a tip to thank him for helping us, and to pay for the one round of milk punches we ordered to cover those since the verbal agreement seemed to apparently only cover the frozen drinks and the 45 minute late, watered down original order that we were told couldn't be filled. Beckett then came back after our waiter left, took the glass from one of our friends and placed the other 3 full glasses onto his servers tray and told us to "get the "fuck out and never be frequent visitors again." Chopper has always been my ace-in-the -hole bar; need to impress visitors? I bring them to Chopper. That is actually why we were there this evening. I'm having trouble understanding how a place with such high standards could even end up with a shift manager/bartender who would treat guests, really anyone this poorly. Extremely disappointed with this entire experience, embarrassed our friends had to experience that treatment, verbal abuse and humiliation in front of other guests, after we hyped this place up all week prior to their visit. Horrified if this is how Chopper trains its staff to treat each other (after seeing how he treated a supposed new hire that was our waiter) and guests of the establishment. read more

Holiday Chopper is back! Chopper knows how to do a pop-up, but it's not shocking for an establishment that went all out with their regular decor. Their attention to detail is much appreciated by a certain yelper's whose day job is extremely detail oriented. Besides the decor, Chopper makes one mean drink. They are always so tasty and thoughtful. Their wine list is pretty decent too. They have orange wine! I've mentioned this in the past too, but if you want a mocktail, this is the place to go! I went when I was pregnant and fully enjoyed myself. If you want food, Maiz de La Vida is parked out front delivering delicious food until 10pm (check the schedule to confirm). Their taco bowl was very juicy and flavorful and of course their quesabirria is a crowd favorite. One thing to be mindful of, if you're going for the pop-up, it's packed. You will wait.
