I was going to say best afgani food in Munich, but instead I will say best restaurant in Munich and…read morehands down the best afgani food, ever! The eggplant and tomato side dish was a meal in itself. Everything from lamb to chicken was delectable. And a brown basmati rice prepared with almonds, sliced carrots, and raisins!! Service was not great, but mostly due to their being so busy. Ambiance is cozy, warm, and modestly elegant. Look, words don't begin to describe this experience. So stop reading, make a reservation, and get the hell over to Chopan!!

The Mantu was undercooked, and the meat in the Qabuli Pulao was also not properly cooked. These are…read moretwo of the finest Afghan dishes, and you would expect an Afghan restaurant to know how to prepare them properly. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The service was another major issue. The waiter seemed nervous, impatient, and unnecessarily confrontational with several customers. For example, a large family with two children arrived about 30 minutes late for their reservation. Instead of handling the situation politely, the waiter told them they couldn't come in and had to wait outside, even though it was raining. He was also rude to another customer who walked in. He initially told the customer to leave, then checked a sheet of A4 paper before telling him to go to their other branch. This is not how customers should be treated. If reservations need to be checked, there should be a clearly designated check-in area near the entrance where staff can verify bookings and direct guests accordingly. Expecting a single waiter to serve food while simultaneously managing reservations and dealing with walk-in customers is clearly not an effective system. However, being under pressure is no excuse for treating innocent customers rudely. The restaurant's layout and check-in process were confusing, and management should seriously reconsider how guests are welcomed and how reservations are handled. Afghan cuisine is fantastic, and dishes like mantu and Qabuli Pulao deserve to be prepared with care and skill. Unfortunately, the quality of the food here did not meet expectations. Not every Afghan restaurant necessarily delivers the quality that this wonderful cuisine deserves. The restaurant itself had a relatively fancy atmosphere, but good interior design cannot compensate for poorly prepared food and disappointing service. At the end of the day, the food and the way customers are treated are what matter most. Management should invest in proper staff training and hire people who are genuinely friendly, respectful, and professional. Customers should not have to deal with an employee's bad mood or arrogant attitude simply because they have come to enjoy a meal. There is real potential here, but both the food quality and customer service need significant improvement.
