I felt pretty guilty about coming to Lisa's Chop Shop when I wanted to cut all my hair off to donate. You see, I have another hairstylist. It felt like cheating. But Britt does such a great job with short cuts! I knew I would be in good hands with her, and I wanted to support the new shop. So back in June I sat myself down and put my full trust in Britt's talented hands.
I was very nervous about cutting my hair off. I had short hair about 13 years ago and it did not look good. But my stubborn hair refused to grow any longer and was a split end mess at the bottom. It needed to come off, and it needed to go short to get that minimum of 8 inches to donate (minus the nasty splits). My instructions were basically, "Do whatever you think will work with my face. I put my full faith in you."
I winced as the shears snipped through my ponytail with an era-ending "shhhhink!" I stared nervously at my reflection as my wet hair lay limp against my head in a way that is nowhere near flattering. But soon enough, Britt worked her magic and volume returned to my hair, and it started taking shape. Shape that works with my face, a particularly odd shaped face that is hard to work with for short cuts. Soon I had bounce, and curls, and wait, what's that I hear?! Trimmers! Eeek! The back of my neck got trimmed. Holy shit that's short back there! But when Britt was done it looked great. I couldn't be happier, and I couldn't imagine having a better cut. The shape was perfect. And 4 months later it still looks great as it grows out. She managed to cut my hair short in a way that wouldn't grow out awkwardly. Amazing! And guess what? My hair is hella easy to style at home! I can actually get it to look like Britt did, at home, with very little effort. Now that is my kind of haircut!
Britt is incredible. If you are thinking of going short, or just need a change, this girl knows how to make you look good. She's full of creativity and is a super wonderful person to boot. And her massages are drool inducing!
But the shop! The shop is beautiful. Lisa and Co. have done an outstanding job of making this place fit the Chop Shop image, but also making it very much Lisa's. I can't think of a better person to run this shop. Lisa is a doll. She is passionate, dedicated, smart and savvy. The rest of the staff are wonderful, but I haven't had the chance to get to know them as well as Lisa and Britt. However, everyone is very friendly, and they all seem to have a truly fun time working together. It's so nice when people love their jobs!
