I asked a buddy of mine for a couple recommendations and he got me an appointment Shane's Master Barbering with Bass. If you don't know the area it my be confusing to find my that's why we have smartphones. There is plenty of parking whether it be on the street, the lot behind the building or the garage. You know the saying " it's not about the size of boat its the motion in the ocean". That being said don't let the small appearance store front deter you from a quality cut. Shane's location has a seating area for waiting customers, two tvs, 5 booths. All this is well and grand but if the barbers can't cut hair, it's all for nothing. THAT IS NOT THE CASE HERE! My man Bass hooked me up with a pompadour hair style. I showed him a picture and he made it happen. Usually, barber are good with clippers and edgers - nothing else. Bass is a master at his craft he provided this cut by way of shears, dovo razor, in addition to the clippers and edgers. Truly making him a versatile barber. I later found out this was the first time he done this style cut and I couldn't have been more surprised based on his precise execution and styling. They have gained another loyal customer. My kids do not like anyone touching their hair besides their barber. At a young age they have this barber loyalty thing going on. But we were away and there was no way they could continue the trip looking how they did. Based off the pictures I felt this place could still be ok for our needs. Now I have to say the one star review for this place initially made me nervous but unfortunately, sometimes if you're going into a black barbershop, there needs to be dialog or everyone will assume you're waiting for someone in particular. Is it good business not to be greeted, absolutely not, but I know what it is, so I took the one star review as a warning of what not to do at this establishment. So when you walk in there is this seating area and a wall right in front of you with a tv. You could potentially walk in this place and sit in a seat and no one even realize you're there. So when I came in, I went behind the wall and walked into the barbers' space. They were looking at me weird but no one really said anything. No "how can I help you" or anything. But I was ok with that at this point because I was checking out everyone's work to see who I wanted to do my kids hair. My husband was so embarrassed and was telling me to come back to the waiting area. I'm like dude I'm not waiting here sitting nicely like that last reviewer. So when a barber was done I would be like are you available and got one kid right in. One dad was sitting in the waiting area nicely with his son, but only after I went to put my second kid in a chair did he speak up and say "we've been waiting". Dad come on, you will be sitting there forever, did you not read the review? Regardless, it worked out well. My guys came out looking like little gentlemen. Were they happy initially? Who cares, they looked great. So overall I was happy with how their cuts turned out even though a fade in Massachusetts is different then a fade in Jersey so be weary of that. Also their address on Yelp is incorrect so call for the correct address. Talent wise, if I was in this area again, I would return.
