I'm giving this grocery store at four out of five. it would've been a five out of five if one of the workers would've opened up the Lacroix cherry blossom and put them on the shelf for singles at my request as that would've been above and beyond customer service. Timothy, I believe his name was also very good . Super friendly and Canadian. lol Overall, this market has a good vibes and has a good selections which is why it's called choices . It's nowhere near as big as Whole Foods, but I believe choices which is Canada's answer to Whole Foods does a good job at providing access to a decent variety of natural and artisanal foods and beverages. They even have Wi-Fi and a little aquarium . Very cute . I would shop here all the time if I were a local ! read more

Not a lot of people know about this Choices Markets unless you live in the area. They have some pretty good quality stuff but they are slightly more expensive. The store isn't big and they usually don't have a lot of people in the store each time. Parking is not free. There are a bunch of meter parking in front. read more

This is a great neighbour grocer providing quality produce of the organic and local kind. Staff are always friendly here and happy to help whether you are in deli, ready made foods, cashiers etc. To be honest, when I first tried their ready made food - A chicken wrap a couple years ago, it was bland and dry so I didn't buy much of their ready food for awhile. They've really come around. My goto Salad is the kale tofu and blueberry salad. Yum! And their roast chickens are delicious too. Sometimes you will find deals on cheese or older salads next to the soup that's prepackaged :) I do find that the food in the heater is too expensive as another reviewer noted. And on 2 occasions, they ran out of garlic?? How's that possible.. Depending on what you're looking forward in terms of price point and ingredient selection and quality, Choices is comparable to Nesters, Urban Fare and Farm to Table, all with a couple blocks of each other. read more

Usually, go to the Yaletown store. I know their prices are a bit higher than others but it's a local company so I want to support it. This Choices Market is a convenient Yaletown location for a quick stop to pickup some milk, strawberry jam, and San Pellegrino aranciata soda (2/19/18). Friendly checkout person and items carefully placed in sturdy double paper bags (or plastic), at no extra charge. I forgot my Central Market shopping bags brought from home back at our high rise flat. For greater area Seattleites, this closely reminds me of PCC Neighborhood Markets. The turkey chilli did not have chunks of turkey meat inside; there were only bits of turkey (you cannot tell if they were turkey or other meat since they were mixed with other ingredients) with beans for the chilli. It was not as substantial as the chicken chilli which was made with chunks of chicken with a variety of vegetables. Also, it was not spicy so it was not a genuine chilli. In addition, their red curry soup was too watery; it was not a curry at all. Also, if they had chicken in the soup then they should indicate it on the label as well. The order included one roll halved and one container of sweet and spicy chili sauce. The chilled wrap consisted of a variety of veggie ingredients including avocado. Five paragraphs for a breakfast bagel: I am a regular customer of Choices. I selectively enjoy their healthy food at actually pretty resonance prices. Yesterday I purchased my usual breakfast bagel that I love so much, using my Visa card, although I took no receipt (Mother Earth - save trees). Still, I have always have an electronic record of every Vancity Visa transaction in real-time on Vancity app. I heated my bagel in microwave as usual, but when I went to leave the store, one of the Deli staff (Jen) immediately accused me of stealing... even after I took her to the cashier I just paid at and confirmed my payment, Jen still insisted that she had seen me leave Choices without paying in the past. This is absolutely NOT true; I pay each and every time. When I suggested this might be a misunderstanding on her part, the staff person refused to listen to me, or believe me, so I escalated this to management. Management did not take my side either, but suggested that I always keep a paper receipt. I demanded an apology from the Deli worker. I got an apology somewhat lacking in sincerity. Jen kept her arrogant entitled judgemental opinion that I was wrong, she was right. Management refused to correct her, or to acknowledge their mistake. Why are staff not counselled in a more diplomatic and appropriate way of speaking to their customers? What happened to customer service at Choices? read more

My husband and I walked the aisles of this grocery store earlier today to check out their selection of foods and their prices. This place has a lot of really good qualities to write about: -the store is conveniently located in Yaletown on Richards at Davie, and the hours of operation are decent -pretty flowers and potted plants, reasonably priced, too -clean and beautiful store; excellent lay-out; easy to navigate -good selection of foods (it's like a "360" store, for you Seattle-ites out there. Owned by Whole Foods, but scaled down) and a LOT of bulk foods -great looking salad bar! Very impressive! Prices for the salad bar were reasonable, too! The downside/s? -nobody greeted us, acknowledged us, asked us if we wanted help finding anything, said hi or bye to us (and we wandered the store for a good 15 minutes, too) -prices for most items seemed high, even by Vancouver standards. I can't imagine making my regular grocery shopping for my family here. Perhaps that's just me, though.... (Ideally I'd rate this store 3.5 stars but since half stars aren't available, I'm rounding up). read more

Cons: Their dry food (shake and bake and certain crackers) have a "garbage" taste to them likely due to how they're stored in the back in close proximity to a large waste bin. I've experienced this with two boxes of Shake N Bake as well as two sets of crackers from different manufacturers. At first I thought it was the product themselves and contacted the manufacturer telling them about it. But then I realized it's only this store that's ever had this "taste" to newly packaged foods. Basically if the dry food isn't wrapped in sealed plastic Do Not Purchase! Unless you love the taste of trash containers. I get that they probably don't have space in the back but they could maybe invest in some airtight containers or something to stop the garbage smell from seeping into the food products. Might even be the transport system who knows. Pros: Absolutely Five-Star friendly staff. They have a very high quality produce department (maybe one of the best) which usually has super fresh produce. I rarely have to pass on anything. The meat is usually top notch too and not super expensive. I like the selection there, lots of cool items however they do tend to be a little pricier compared to the competition. So I do like shopping here but I'll never buy any dry food until their "garbagey taste" situation is looked into, acknowledged, and solved. read more

I'm sorry but a grocery store that can't make a sandwich right is not ok in my books. It's overpriced has little selection but honestly I have had the worst sandwich made ever by anyone. No mayo? No mustard? On a roast beef sandwich? Stale and dry rye bread. I am a local but after that sandwich they will never get my business again. It was that bad. So bad in fact I am writing my first yelp review. I got a cake for my roommate and I am very worried now. It's his birthday and I got 1 of 3 cake choices they had. As others have said, this Choices is a solid store. A large selection considering the downtown location. Good selection of all food types, as well as vitamins and toiletry type items. I enjoy the specialty chickens and the in season fresh fish (when available). Their produce department is very good as are the staff that stock it, they really care about the quality and I respect that immensely. The prices are comparable to others in the area and their sales prices/items are great. The staff are friendly and efficient and they seem to always call more cashiers out if a line up is forming. They now carry fresh salsas but they are not that good, if only it were Fresh is Best Salsa.... Maybe soon? read more

Choices Markets is the most expensive place to shop for food. I bought a beef meat pie, it was filled with bits of shredded meat, very little, nothing else except crust, terrible meat pie for 6,50 each. They raised it 1.00 and supplied less meat. They used to put chunks of beef now nothing. BEWARE, if you want low quality and very high prices shop at Choices, i will stick to Urban Fare and others. read more

Support a local business and come here! This reminds me of a mini Whole Foods. I visited here a couple times during my stay in Vancouver while staying at the Opus hotel a block down. It's a convenient location in Yaletown off of Davie st. They had a fresh salad bar, also some hot soups and a hot bar. I specifically came here one night to purchase some bath salts for the jacuzzi tub in my hotel room and was glad to find they had a few different varieties. Also I came in one time for a reasonably priced quick dinner. Grabbed some chicken skewers from the hot bar and then some coconut lentil soup which was so flavorful and creamy. The staff were very kind and helpful along with the whole place being very clean. This is a small grocery store but you will find everything you need. Lots of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, paleo, you name it here! If you want to dine in they have a small sitting space with tables. read more

Of all of the Choices Markets in Vancouver I have to chose from, this one get's me every time. It could be the convenience. I can walk here, I can ride here, or when I drive, and in the miserable autumn rain, yes I do drive - I always seem to find parking here. 20 minutes is just enough time to do a big grocery shop, complete with aisle browsing for deals. 2 for 1 organic jam, don't mind if I do! Choices has made me a a bigger shopper. Spend over $15 and you start earning points towards $20 off your next shopping trip. Spend over $60 and you earn even more. I gotta say, it's rewarding cashing in that $20. Smart on Choices part too - I inevitably use the collecting of points as a reason to buy an expensive artisan oil, pricey Candied Salmon or a few extra boxes of Nature's Path cereal - even when it's not on sale! read more

I love Choices in Yaletown because of how close it is to where I live. This place deserves 5 stars because it has everything I want in a supermarket. I am tired of going to Save-on-Foods where they have countless rotting vegetables / fruits for a dirt cheap price! If you are a health conscious eater, I highly suggest Choices. They have foods to suit everybody's lifestyle/dietary needs (gluten-free, low-carb, diabetic friendly, etc) for a reasonable price. Sometimes they have really good deals too. Choices is one of those places where you can get nutritionally dense foods that taste very good. The health products section is small but packed with lots of great things and I was surprised to find my Toms of Maine toothpaste and other food supplements. Their salad bar is fresh and worth trying even though they don't offer soup. The readily made food is always nutritious and delicious and good for days when I don't feel like cooking. The queue is always long but moves very quickly because of their efficient employees. Even though they are busy all the time they are always very friendly. The vegetables and fruits for sale are never rotting and molding, unlike in Save-on-Foods. Highly recommended. read more

I'm getting a bit tired of Choices, especially this particular location. It became increasingly worse in terms of customer service, whatever is on sale is out of stock the same day already and it takes them forever to restock. Also in the meat section I have seen more and more products that have been packed 2-3 days prior my shopping date. The last time I went they shut the deli section partially down at 10pm and it was impossible to get sliced cold cut anymore. This is unacceptable in my opinion, if the store is open I expect that all products are available to me. Especially considering the prices Choices charges I do not want to come back twice just because they start cleaning the slicer at 10pm. Clean that up after the store closes or close it earlier altogether if it's not possible to keep staff longer on site. This store has a variety of organic food selections that I cannot find in no other stores. I normally buy organic duck eggs, grass fed cow milk, organic meats.. ect. So, ya that part is good. The customer service is horrible most staff here are passive-aggressive especially check out. You can expect a no response when you say "hi, how are u" and don't ever expect a smile or a friendly face. I shop at Choices because it is way better than Capers, they sell a decent amount of local produce when in season, and they often have gnarly sales on very random but crucial items like Green & Black's Organic Chocolate (quite often 2 for $5). All of the Choices stores seem to be slightly disorganized, the Cambie one being the champ, but they make up for it with quality organic produce and foodstuffs. The odd time I am totally let down with crappy wilted veggies and overpriced fish and poultry, but I'd say it is a very rare occurrence indeed. Their products really aren't that overpriced if you can appreciate paying for local organic food from a Canadian company. I used to spend my money on quantity, oblivious to what I was consuming. I used to avoid Choices because I assumed it was just expensive. However, since it's on the way home from work, it's become a bit of a habit. And you know what? I really like it! Choices has a great selection - organic meats, local vegetables, and clear information about where their food is from. As someone who aims to shop local as much as possible, this is essential! Their sales are really decent, and I've almost earned enough frequent-shopper points to get some free groceries! Can't complain about that! How about passing savings on at the register by way of lower prices? Choices prices are way out of whack. Whole Food is less money and better selection, way better quality produce and friendlier more helpful employees. Not to mention free parking. Cambie street store, Choices supports the Robber Baron city hall parking meters. 16th ave does have free parking on and off street. Even Safeway has better prices on the same products. A good option for small essential midweek item. Not too many selection but it's heaven site for vegan/semi vegan. They have pretty good option for organic food. The price wise is a little bit expensive but the location make the .50cent-$1 more worth it considering only 2-5 minutes walking from my house. Their natural kind of pharmacy/store carry variety of skin care products and the service lady is very friendly. She knows what I was looking for in fact she recommended the facial cleanser with cheaper price than expensive one. Cashiers counter pretty slow, every time I was there, I noticed their cashier like to chit chat unnecessary topic without considered lined up customers. I usually go there around late noon and once during after work and their queues was over their veggies stand and the cashier counter not speed up instead chit chat unnecessary stuff as we all can hear it (obviously, as we carry handbag plus stuff ftom the groceries. I bought some cooked honey garlic wings and ginger beef, and a pre made spinach and strawberry salad with feta from the deli Sunday. I ate the wings and ended up having food poisoning. It was the worst feeling ever; nauseas and unable to move. I took Monday off from work. Monday evening I ate the ginger beef and again I got sick. I was nauseas again after feeling relieved from the food borne Illness. I have never had food poisoning and would never wish it upon my worst enemy. I wanted to send a message and inform others on my unpleasant experience. The deli is great but I'm very concerned about going to buy food. I won't be returning. I sent an email and they did apologize and were willing to offer me a refund and probiotic. I declined. read more

In a little tub like Haagen Daaz, I could not justify paying 6.99 for it... but it was on sale for 3.99!!!!! cha-ching! seriously I wanted to buy all the flavours - Mango, Real Coffee, Vanilla Bean, soo chocolate... but I jumped on the roasted coconut bang wagon.... and I was dreading the amount of fat this ice cream had (sorry I'm a health freak.. who happens to love apple pie). I refused to get another flavour although I was worried my bf would not eat it... oh well that would mean more for me. One bite of this ice cream and you are absolutely in coconut cream heaven. Great location, you gotta love these corner ones with plenty of street meter parking in both directions. Or maybe I'm happier this time is they gave me a complimentary box of gluten-free corn bread stuffing, just from buying one of my all-time favourites, Liberty yogurt---natural flavour, of course. Choices is a lifesaver. It's not the grocery store I go to for my big purchases -- I save that for Save On or Famous Foods. It's not where I go to get my luxurious items -- I save that for Whole Foods or Urban Fare. However, Choices is the perfect and most convenient spot for me to grab those everyday items that I seem to need, well, every freaking day. I shop at Choices for produce and fruits, feta cheese, whole wheat wraps, or that random can of beans, carton of almond milk, or carton of coconut water I'm out of. It's also where I get the absolute most delicious and addictive chickpea cookies from Saman Bakery. Lastly, I come here a few days a week to hit up the salad bar. I find it to be better and cheaper than the place on Pacific and I can't beat the conveniences of it being just a block from work. The cashiers here are always friendly and there are occasionally free samples of something or other being offered in the store to promote new products. read more

Capers for yoghurt, coffee, almond milk, bread and sale items; Aria Market for veggies and fruit; No Frills for canned and packaged staples; Tango Meats for meats...and Choices I also hit for specific items i can't get anywhere for as good a deal...this can be fish, supplements, soap, tea etc. You can get particularly great deals on sockeye. And I have to say i'm usually really impressed by the sale items here too. So if you're looking for quality items at a cheap price...check it out. read more

Choices... Hmmm... The choice are somewhat limited. If you love organic overpriced food, this is the place for you. I guess I'm only bitter because shopping here regularly is slightly out of my budget. However I live a block away and it is the only grocery store within 10 minutes. I still give this place 3 stars, because the quality is great! I have had some delicious local produce and fresh made deli items. Great, selection, reasonable prices, and BC owned and operated. These things are all very important to me when I do my grocery shopping, and their organic and locally made selection is top notch. I love their deli selection and the set up is really easy to find what you need. They also sell plants and little gifts, so I would recommend this place for several goods and not just food.
