I got six quotes to do a small painting project in our home. Normally I do the interior painting…read moremyself but in this case we wanted some rough cedar paneling painted and I was worried my DIY job wouldn't turn out so great because I have zero experience painting paneling. What I learned from the quote collection process is that the cost to paint a room has quite a big range, with handymen type painters willing to do it for significantly less than true painting companies. That being said, the process is entirely different. Vladimir at Maldonado's Painting explained to me their multi step process and made me feel confident the paneling would turn out great. A handyman will paint your room, but Maldonados will first prep, caulk, sand, prime, and not leave the job site until you are completely satisfied. Among painting company estimates, Maldonados is on par. They are neither significantly cheaper nor more expensive. But man, the job they do! Vladimir has an incredible attention to detail. His employees are also meticulous and anything they miss, Vladimir catches on his daily walks of the job site. From prep to execution to clean up, these guys are on point. Our paneling turned out GREAT. His team was also able to remove a built in bookshelf, patch and retexture the wall behind it, and fix some other wall and ceiling issues where we had removed some (ridiculous) decorative brick pillars. They have an impeccable attention to detail and brought many issues to my attention that I wasn't even aware of. They fixed everything to my complete satisfaction and our room looks like a new space! I cannot recommend Vladimir and Maldonados Painting enough. Painting is EXPENSIVE... if you're going to spend this kind of money, hire the best. Hire Maldonados.

Maldonados was recommended to us by neighbors who had received recommendations from a relative in…read moreanother neighborhood who knew several people who had used them.  And so the endorsements will continue as we were very pleased with the work they did.  Prices may be competitive but what makes these people different is the obvious commitment to quality work from the owner through the crew who actually does the work.  They work well together, and Vladimir has empowered his employees to make on the job decisions to do even more work than quoted, when they see it is needed, ALL AT NO ADDITIONAL COST.  When the job is done, he wants to know it has been done the very best it can be, and he is aware that some things can't be seen until the work is underway. We met with Vladimir and walked around the house discussing areas that would need work.  He asked if he could use Hardie board where squirrels had been gnawing at the siding.  When painted, it looks the same and would last longer.  Since we wanted only to replace rotted and damaged areas, rather than residing the whole house, and though our original siding was no longer available, he found materials to make it work beautifully.  In some areas, it was Hardie board, in others, it was cedar and the finished work matches well.  The entire house was re-caulked.  Even where they did not replace anything.  He wants everything tight, with no water getting in to cause rot in the future. We ended up with about 30-40% of the siding replaced, rotten trim around the windows replaced, everything was caulked.  New wood was primed, then painted with the house color before the final painting was done on the entire house.  The quote was for 4-6 days, and the work was completed in 5.  The crew was respectful and careful of the property, draping, taping and covering everything.  The price was as quoted, because that's the way it is with Maldonados.  He does not charge anything additional, even though many more boards were replaced than originally quoted. The pictures attached show windows where all the trim was replaced, and most of the siding.  The close up detail of mitered corners and caulking that were far superior to the original work, and the careful measuring and cutting required to work around pipes and faucet.  Great job guys.

Got a few quotes that were astronomical...one quote claimed it would be 5k for just the trim...yes you read that right. We called Cain Reyes Painting because he had the least fanciest business card at the Sherman Williams store by us - gotta be reasonable right? Cain a native of Oak Cliff and was doing a job nearby, so he was able to come through quickly and give us a quote. Cain was really nice and took time out to tell us everything he could do included patching holes, re-cocking, fixing trim cracks and sanding down all the prior paint jobs. We agreed on the quote and he got to work the next week! He gave us a 10-day estimate but came through in 5-days and WOW. I've never been so happy and when your dropping that kinda cash you want a wow. It looks and feels like a brand new house. They were clean and professional, taping and covering everything. His teenage son is apart of the crew too which I can appreciate. I'm still smiling writing this review right now! His team also does power washing (which we took advantage of), exterior paint, floors and more. He will be are guy for all of it. He even had a great contact for a handy man that was able to show up the next day after the one we called didn't show up. Delighted with him as well. Esteban walked away after being paid nearly $70,000, leaving behind poor workmanship, damage, and incomplete work. From the start, he promised professional, high-quality results and claimed he could do better than our previous handyman. Instead, it quickly became clear he was in over his head and did not understand the full steps of a complete full home remodel. As the project dragged on, I found myself having to check in constantly and even advise him on how to get the work done, which is absurd for a licensed contractor. The list of issues is long: Paint job never completed in bedrooms and on cabinets Overspray on cabinets and our newly stained concrete floors (which we had to pay out of pocket to clean) Damaged drywall and poorly done texture LUMPY AND CROOKED WALLS throughout the home Damaged gutters Terrible grout work and poor Schluter trim installation in every bathroom New flooring installed over weak structural areas he promised to repair--but didn't Esteban later admitted he underbid the project and then stopped responding to calls and messages, leaving us stranded. EVERYONE, BE AWARE! THIS BUSINESS IS A SCAM…read more Jose is a deceptive person, he is the worst both as a business and a person I have ever encountered in my life. Last month they came to my house to fix my dripping tub faucet (slowly dripping so I let it be for about 2 months), they could not fix it but even made it way worse, became way stronger, and faster leaking. Jose who I talked to at first is the boss/owner (according to Mario, one of the 2 guys he sent) came to my house and told me they had to install a new set. I had no choice but to accept that with a new charge. After they were done, I checked and discovered that when I turned on the valve handle water was coming out at both ends (tub faucet and shower head, not just leaking at the shower head but like a regular stream when you need to use it). The guys video-called with Jose, and after a while, they handed me the phone to talk to him. Jose started tricking and lying to me, he said it is how they are supposed to be working. I said no, when we use the tub faucet, water must not come out at the shower head, this is how my previous set works and how it works in any houses' bathtub. He then blamed the manufacturer, said, that is how they are made by the manufacturer. I laughed and said no again. Then he threatened me saying that if I don't accept it, they will have to put back my previous set and charge more for that. I could not let them do that because they made it way worse, so I would not leave water on with my old tub faucet. Even these 2 guys, when I asked them is this how your bathtub faucet works, they could not say anything, just be silent and nodded. They knew this was wrong. I had to stop them and tell them to leave, otherwise I would call the police. I am ok with people making mistakes because no one is perfect, but you have to take responsibility for your mistakes and fix it. This guy, Jose, did not admit their faulty installation and never offer a solution to fix it. He was only texting and calling me to ask for more money. I don't want to be a bad person so I zelled him the cost of the parts. A few days later, I had to waste more time and money to fix their defective installation by another contractor. Since there is no option to attach pictures and/or videos to this review, I will add them to the Photos & Videos menu.
