He lived on a shoestring budget and trained with all the ATOS people you see on YouTube. Time on the mat with him is GOLD. We take our Jiu Jitsu seriously, but we absolutely do not take ourselves seriously; just read the other reviews and follow on social media. #BJJ #BrazilianJiuJitsu #Grappling #Westminster. If you have trained before here are a few details... We start standing up. We drill. We do situational rolling. We do rounds. We do shark bait. We chainsaw. We keep a bucket close. Come join us, it's fun! BTW I'm 54, you can do it.

You WILL become better through their guidance. They take a methodical approach to demonstrating technique. I have been training there for a little over 2 years and have 0 complaints. I think the thing that I love the most is the confidence I have when traveling to other gyms (visiting friends/being on vacation etc) and training there. I know when I walk through the door of other gyms, that I will be able to handle whatever is thrown at me. Your physical fitness will improve greatly at 150 as well. I am almost 50 years old and I am in the best shape of my life after training there. The atmosphere and camaraderie is another aspect that I love. It feels like I am surrounded by a family of brothers and sisters which is crucial when training a sport like this.

Brian Stanley is extremely well-trained, knowledgeable, passionate, and kind. He has created an environment that focuses on being humble warriors and respecting all but fearing none. The encouraging energy is created by instructors and fellow teammates. The vibes of the gym resemble that of a close-knit team, and we consider ourselves a family that opens its arms to anyone who wants to put in the work and learn something new. With that being said, everyone at the gym likes to have a good time and classes are often accompanied with laughs. Stanley Combatives currently offers a variety of class options including Muay Thai, BJJ, conditioning, and street self-defense. Personally, I had never trained any kind of combat sports before joining the gym, but I enjoyed it from the moment I stepped on the mat. 10/10 cannot recommend enough- absolutely top tier.

Ray Scott was my personal trainer when I lived in Maryland. He was amazing. I could not have asked…read morefor a better trainer. I had set a goal for myself and I surpassed it with Ray's help. He was extremely knowledgeable and very supportive. One of the most important qualities I look for in a trainer is how much he/she emphasizes on the execution of proper form and techniques. Ray focused a lot on that. He taught me that if you do not perform the workouts correctly, you are not getting the maximum effects and you are putting yourself at risk for injuries; therefore delaying your progress. Unfortunately, I moved to a different state a few years ago. Every year, I would come back to MD just to train with him for a week. Yes, you read that correctly! Yes, I come back to MD for the sole purpose of training with Ray Scott. He is that good! I'm sure I can find another trainer where I am. There's tons of them where I am. But there's no Ray Scott. Even though I don't train with Ray anymore since I'm 2,000 miles away, he still sends me a text every now and then to ask how my workouts are going and if I am eating properly. Once you are his client, no matter where you are, what you are doing, Ray will always be there for you supporting you 100%! I can guarantee you no one will invest in your physical fitness they way Ray does. He puts so much time and effort getting you to where you want to be. Your workouts will be tailored specifically to you so you will see results quickly but you will be safe and injury free. As long as you're honest with him, tell him your goals, your injuries if you have any, and everything will fall into place. Trust the process!

This place and their instructors are truly EXTRAORDINARY! I searched around for quite a while…read moreuntil I found a place I felt comfortable with for my AUTISTIC son to take classes. I chose them because they made me feel comfortable about them being willing to work with my son's special issues. Well they really have made this possible for him but I am so THANKFUL that I found them because not only have they made it possible for him to take the classes with his special needs but they have let him just be one of the students in the class, he is never given a second look or treated differently because it may take him a little longer to learn something or may be a bit awkward while learning, he is just a part of the class for probably the first time in his life! Even the other students during class or while pairing up to practice whatever the case may be treat him no different, IT IS WONDERFUL! It brings TEARS TO MY EYES as any parent of a special needs child I'm sure would be able to understand, seeing him getting to be just another child in the class. Also besides teaching martial arts they teach HUMAN DECENCY which is so overlooked in this day and age, the students are taught to respect one another and themselves, not just how to kick or punch which I found to be such a great and surprising addition to the martial arts he's learning there. I guess you could say we went for the martial arts but have gotten SO MUCH MORE! And included with his membership they include a FREE BIRTHDAY PARTY for each student so my son got to CELEBRATE his 15th birthday recently with family and friends, with some fun Taekwondo moves for everyone plus lazer tag, dodgeball and some other activities! We had a great time and lots of laughs together! To top it off, my son cut his cake with a Samurai sword! Haha! THIS IS THE PLACE!!!
