Thankfully I'd tried it a few times in the past, so I wasn't lost. I wasn't expecting 1-on-1 instruction though, so it was fine. The instructor made me feel very comfortable choosing to do modified moves when the arthritis in my knees forced me to do something else. I love that we were instructed to use blocks and pillows and blankets as needed to aid us with our balance or stretching or to cushion our knees or rear. The classes I'd taken in the past (elsewhere) never had those.

I have never done an actual yoga class, so I was definitely intimidated at first. Well starting from the very first class, I felt so welcomed. I've taken about 6 classes so far from beginning yoga to hot yoga, cycle class, Pilates, and gentle yoga. I enjoyed every single class, and even though it's only been about two weeks I'm definitely feeling the difference in my body! I leave every class with a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that I completed the class! I've been challenged for sure and I absolutely want to stick to this new way of life! I'm not sure I can afford a membership after my trial runs out, but I'm going to look into it. On the day's we didn't make it to the studio, I did classes on YouTube, but it's just not the same. I love being in the class setting and having the instructor's right there. I'm hoping so much that I'll be able to do it financially. Everyone here is so nice and makes you feel so welcome. The instructor's are also so good at giving you the individual instruction you need, I told them I'm new to this and they really work with you when your a beginner. This was by far the best Christmas gift my daughter has ever gotten me!!!

Hello to all, I recommend Gordon Insititue because the environment they provide is friendly, open,…read moremakes one not feel self-conscious as one attempts to learn a more difficult work out. Staff is very knowledgeable about outside-of-the-box workouts and I am one who used to work out at traditional spandex places for many years. I like the cleanliness and low key beauty of their gym. The trainers are youthful, upbeat, do not judge one based on age but alway encourage to expand one's efforts to get more fit. There is a friendly comraderie that exists here and you may one day be working out with another guy your age and mixed in may be some younger peoole but all seem to flow well together. Free water bottles, free gatorade as you enter or leave after your workout is a nice touch. I have been encouraged there to reach further, use different equipment than I ever have before, and I like the way they challenge me without making me feel self-conscious. I recommend Gordon Institute to anyone looking for a better, more complete workout and a place to meet some really nice people. It is never too crowded, never too many kids being babysat running around - it really feels like a serious gym with a sense of humor!

If you don't want all the unnecessary bells and whistles that the big corporate chains have but still have the basics and then some, this is a great place to join! I have a student membership and pay month-to-month for $25 without a contract. They have various other membership packages and definitely cater to family fitness. Not only do you have the cardio room and 2 weight rooms (both free weights and machines), but they have a day care center, a giant gymnasium for basketball and some of the larger group fitness classes like Zumba, and then other smaller rooms for yoga, etc. All fitness classes are included in your membership. You're also able to pay to workout or go to a class per day as opposed to a monthly membership if you go less frequently. They offer personal training and have a fun, warm, and friendly staff to help you get settled. If you're looking for a gym to feel comfortable, have options, and not pay ridiculous monthly fees, this is a place worth checking out! And the funny part is that most people don't know that this building is a gym! It's the old armory building on Longwell at the entrance of the park off Main Street and across from Paradiso.
