We left the lovely stable area and proceeded to go by corn fields and through some woods. The terrain was gently roll ling in places. The horses trotted in a few places but the gait wasn't too much for anyone to handle. The experienced riders (three of them) who accompanied us were friendly and helpful. They helped us take pictures afterward. The owner was very pleasant and discussed her love of horses with us. The other owner who was in the store was very pleasant also. Their Western Wear and Tack Shop is well stocked. It looks like a great place to get gifts for the person who loves horses or western gear. There are some very nice cowboy boots and hats. Oh the cost for this excursion was well worth the money: $21/person.

Might as well be the blue quarter-horse outside the Wal-Mart. Pine Point is located on US-45 about 4 miles north of the main part of Eagle River, which is a touristy town in northern WI. We knew about this place for a while and decided to check it out on our most recent trip up north. For $18 a person ($15 with Facebook promotion) you can ride a real full-sized horse on a real trail for about 45 minutes. They have rides every hour and you might not even need a reservation if it isn't a busy day. It's easy to spot with flags on a string and a sign for "riding stables" pointing to the entrance. We came on a Saturday afternoon thinking it would be crowded but we were the only 4 people at the riding stable. My 6 year old even got to sit on his own horse and being the courageous kid that he is, didn't freak out or want someone to ride with him. I got a perpetually hungry white horse named Silver who, unlike the Lone Ranger's horse, was only out on the trail looking for branches to munch on along the way. I had to prod him along and coax him to stop eating. The guy who gave us the horses warned me that he's a muncher... It was a pleasant ride through the wooded trail that spans the 60 acres of the property. We had a guide lead us along the way and the horses followed her lead horse without us having to so much as steer them once in a while if they had other ideas. And the entire experience was so much worth the money. And don't worry. These are nice horses that won't leave you like Christopher Reeves. We came back after our ride and they even let us stick around to get a few more photos of our horses... especially mine, who posed while chewing a branch from a shrub it found along the way. But as Bruce Springsteen sings: "Everybody's got a hungry horse". So if you're in northern WI looking for something to do, check out Pine Point for a fun horsie ride.

April in my opinion should definitely not be in customer service if she has anger issues like she displayed to the customers checking in. I almost had gone somewhere else after having called to ask a question before deciding to book with Rib Mountain Inn, her phone etiquette was not friendly,and very sharp tongued. I wish I had seen the one comment because I would have chosen to go elsewhere.

She takes great care of the cabins and always has great suggestions when you ask her about anything local from food to activities. The property is great for walks and there's some horses and donkeys to check out too. Our dogs always feel at home on the ranch. We love to ride ATV trails and Spur of the Moment has trail access. You ride from your front door to anywhere you like in the area, no trailering. On our last trip we brought a side x side and all the great trails permitted our lager machine. All of the meals we ate out we did by riding our machines to and Ann supplied us with maps so we knew where we were going. The trail system has so many local and long distant places to go to it's good for beginners as well as veterans. Last thing that we've always enjoyed is the other guests. The Ranch is not only good to ATV'ers it's VERY horse friendly. On a busy weekend you can have all types of guests and on every trip we've done it's never mattered what you're into, people are just friendly. It's flat out relaxing.
