I want to express my deepest gratitude to Johanna Leal and the team at Grand Prairie Funeral Home…read morefor their exceptional support during the hardest time of my life. The loss of my beloved husband of 40 years was overwhelming, and I was unsure how I would manage the details of his service or even what funeral home to use. I visited Grand Prairie Funeral Home and talked with Johanna, and she felt like family. I took a few days to even be able to talk about the service and they were there for me with every emotional moment. Johanna and her team not only held my hand through every step but also offered the patience and compassion I desperately needed. They asked the thoughtful questions that my husband would have asked himself, guiding me gently through decisions that seemed impossible to make. Johanna's unwavering support and understanding made it possible for me to get through the process and honor my husband's memory in a way that truly reflected his life and our family's love. I could not have managed my stress and grief without Johanna, Tiffani and Marlena. All three of them were there for me with advice, hugs and comfort. My daughter, mother and I were in a bad accident after leaving the funeral home a couple of days before the service and Johanna made sure that everything was perfect for the service with plans, transportation, emails and phone calls that needed to be accomplished. I am profoundly grateful for their help and kindness during such a difficult time.

From the first inquiring phone call that I made to them looking for directions because I have never had to do the arrangements for the passing of a loved one before, to the planning of the entire process, they were amazing. They did not pressure us into getting things we did not need, they were helpful, informative, supportive, kind, comforting, compassionate, and were a good group of people (staff) that just walked along side me and my family in our time of need. Though I hope nobody has to walk this path, but if you do, I highly recommend Grand Prairie Funeral Home to do it with. Erin Hall was our amazing funeral director and was a wonderful blessing to all of us. Thank you Erin.

Then we decided on a space and then paid the deposit to call us back and say they told us the wrong spot (plot) second , the makeup and hair they did was so bad. 3rd restroom accessibility .. you'd think they would have a restroom as big as this place is. You have to drive all the way to the office and if it's closed you have to leave the property. They started construction on the parking lot area and still not completed and says go through another door so you park on other side to find out you have to move again and park by the construction site.

This is the second issue we've had with this particular business…read more Our family's experience with Calvary Hill, particularly Colton Storie's lack of customer service and follow-through, was extremely disappointing during an already devastating time. Both Calvary Hill and Laurel Land are Dignity Memorial properties. My father had previously worked with Colton on his own funeral arrangements at Calvary Hill, so when my sister Michele was dying, it seemed reasonable to have Colton coordinate her arrangements, even though she was ultimately to be buried at Laurel Land. My father explained that our family had an unused burial space at Laurel Land purchased by his parents. Colton confirmed that the space was available for Michele, proceeded with the funeral and burial arrangements, and accepted a $1,500 deposit on August 22, the day she died. Three days later, when we went to Laurel Land, we learned that heirship requirements prevented Michele from being buried in that space. Colton recommended a 10-day public-notice process, which we understood would allow the burial to proceed if no one objected. We later learned from SCI that the notice apparently would not have resolved Laurel Land's additional requirements. Because we could not risk delaying Michele's burial only to discover 10 days later that the issue remained unresolved, we arranged to bury her elsewhere. The customer service failure became especially unacceptable afterward. My father repeatedly called Colton for an explanation but received no return calls. The unused arrangements apparently were never properly canceled, and my father was later sent an invoice for approximately $15,000 for services that were never provided. I ultimately had to escalate the matter to SCI/Dignity Memorial to have the charges canceled and seek the return of my father's $1,500 deposit. Mistakes and misunderstandings can happen, but failing to communicate afterward is much harder to excuse. Returning a grieving father's calls, explaining what went wrong, canceling unused arrangements, and ensuring he was not billed for services never provided should have been the bare minimum. We chose Colton because Calvary Hill and Laurel Land are both part of the Dignity Memorial network and believed he could coordinate these arrangements appropriately. Instead, our family was left chasing answers and correcting problems while grieving my sister. Families arranging a funeral deserve accurate information, clear communication, compassion, and follow-through. Our family received far less than that.
