We enjoyed it there was a balcony outside but that balcony rail is absolutely loose it seems like a liability waiting to happen. There's plenty of tourists here and a lot of people will act like they forgot how to park or they expect top notch privilege which will make going up to the front desk a giant pain upon arrive . If you see a parking spot near the front just take it and walk in and check in . Some of the amenities are pretty cool but I do feel like this place was a bit overrated for the time being. This place felt very outdated as well but this place can be pretty much dead at certain times of the year. The breakfast here is solid but it is absolutely expensive if you go for the Continental package. They charged me $54 and it wasn't even all that good it's probably worth $30 at best. If I knew it was going to be that expensive and underwhelming I would have walked to the gas station and probably paid $10. I will say that there are Lobby shines bright and so does their bar. Whenever there's a party going on usually there's a lot of life going on over here. If you're going to go anywhere and not drive , I recommend taking an Uber and not a Lyft because the price difference is huge. For an expensive stay, I will lean that this place was a 2.75 star experience. So I will leave it at three stars.

I had an outstanding experience at The Abbey thanks to Illeyana--also known (and now forever…read moreremembered) as Ms. Goldfish. From the moment we walked in, her energy, attentiveness, and genuine friendliness set the tone for the entire visit. She was on top of everything--quick service, great recommendations, and always checking in without being overbearing. It's rare to find someone who makes you feel both taken care of and completely relaxed at the same time, but Illeyana nailed it. The nickname "Ms. Goldfish" fits perfectly--she kept things fun, memorable, and just a little bit legendary. If you're heading to The Abbey, do yourself a favor and ask for her. Customer service like that is hard to come by. We'll definitely be back!

My wife and I stayed in the standard luxury room (vs. a suite or room w/fireplace) and it was big. We got a bottle of wine and rose petals on the bed along with free Coke and Sprite. It began on the morning of our second day. At 8:00 a.m. it sounded as though someone was sliding furniture across the floor, followed by LOUD banging of doors and stomping up and down stairs. We were in room 101, which is right off the exit toward the room. The opening and slamming of the door was completely obnoxious! The "restaurant" on the property had a menu date of early March, which means it had not been open since. I chose this location because it prides itself on the quiet serenity of an "adults only" boutique hotel. This was NOT the case. The staff had zero respect even after I texted the front desk staff about the issue. They offered us a late check-out, one free night for future use, or a gift card for the restaurant (that was not open). I declined and stated that I will leave my review accordingly and would not be visiting the location again.

Overall, the service was friendly and attentive, the food was excellent, and the experience exceeded expectations. We waited for 45 minutes, but it was absolutely worth it with live music and a Santa Claus walking around to entertain the kids. Tremendous bartenders and friendly staff made the wait short. Food was executed well with great sides and excellent cocktails. A solid fish fry with lots of options and a great coleslaw. My wife loved her ribs. This definitely feels like the sort of place that only locals know about and everyone is welcome. We would highly recommend.

While the property has charm, it is in need of some maintenance. Shortly after we arrived, we flushed the toilet in our room and it began leaking from the base, soaking the bathroom floor. The staff was gracious and promptly moved us to two adjoining rooms on the second floor, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, while moving our luggage to the new rooms, my mother tripped over an exterior carpet runner that had significant ripples and uneven areas throughout. It created a serious tripping hazard. She fell hard enough that I later took her to the emergency room, where she was treated for bruises and other injuries. I immediately reported the incident to the manager, Kevin, showed him photos of my mother's injuries, and expressed my concerns about the condition of the carpet. What disappointed me most was the lack of response afterward. At no point did he ask us to complete an incident report, take photographs, inquire about my mother's condition, offer assistance with medical expenses, or explain what steps would be taken to address the hazard. The person who showed the most concern was Sarah, a waitress in the restaurant. When we told her what had happened, she was shocked that no incident report had been completed. She immediately helped us document the situation, requested photos so the matter could be escalated, and genuinely expressed concern for my mother's well-being. Sarah's compassion and professionalism were greatly appreciated. During the remainder of our stay, we encountered Kevin several times. Unfortunately, he never asked how my mother was doing or offered any form of follow-up. I also requested a copy of the security video from the exterior cameras, both verbally and in writing, but never received it. Before leaving, I spoke with Kevin again and expressed my disappointment regarding the lack of empathy and follow-through. The only response I received was that new exterior carpeting had been ordered. While I am glad corrective action may be underway, there were temporary measures that could have been taken immediately to reduce the hazard, such as cutting out the ripples, securing the carpet, or taping down the affected areas. The property itself has a beautiful lakeside location and attractive grounds. My concern is not with the setting, but with how a guest injury was handled. I only wish management had demonstrated the same level of care and compassion that Sarah showed throughout the situation.

My pregnant wife, 10-month-old daughter, and I were forced to cancel our reservation the day of our stay due to both my daughter and pregnant wife contracting COVID-19. What followed was a masterclass in corporate callousness that I wouldn't wish on anyone. We called the hotel first thing in the morning and were explicitly told we could cancel and receive a full refund without issue. Relieved, we then contacted Amex Travel (through whom we booked) to initiate the cancellation with the hotel. Suddenly, the hotel completely reversed course and DENIED the cancellation despite their earlier assurance. When I called back directly, they maintained this denial with zero explanation for the contradiction. Here's where it gets truly unconscionable. When we asked if we could reschedule to a different date due to the COVID situation, they flatly refused. When we asked if they were truly comfortable with a family actively infected with COVID coming to their property, they said we were "more than welcome." Let that sink in, they would rather have actively COVID-positive guests (including an infant and pregnant woman) potentially expose their staff and other guests than show an ounce of flexibility or compassion. Throughout multiple calls, I repeatedly requested to speak with a manager. Each time, I was denied this basic request. Apparently, their management team lacks the courage to face dissatisfied customers or take responsibility for their staff's contradictory statements and heartless policies. The most infuriating aspect? Their website boldly states: "Please know that we take the COVID-19 situation very seriously." What an absolute joke. They're perfectly willing to welcome actively infected guests rather than work with a family in genuine medical distress. We were forced to eat the $400 cancellation fee rather than risk the health of other guests and staff, something Lodge Geneva National clearly couldn't care less about. This establishment has shown they value every dollar over basic human decency, public health, and guest safety. Their contradictory statements, refusal to honor their initial commitments, and willingness to welcome COVID-positive guests reveals a deeply problematic institutional culture. Save your money, protect your health, and find literally anywhere else to stay. Lodge Geneva National has proven they don't deserve the business of families who actually care about the wellbeing of others.
