It turns out the General Tso's chicken was a bad idea - now I'm dealing with food poisoning.

Excellent food. I've had Asian food all over and this place is really good. I recommend ordering online as it gives you lots of options. For example, I had the Kung Pao Chicken and it brings up a list of options. I upgraded the rice to Chicken Fried Rice for only $3.00 and it was very delicious. This is our go to for Chinese take out. Very good har gaw, dim sum, chicken wings, lo mein, wonton soup, chicken noodle soup. Huge selection and prompt delivery. We also liked their ho fun (wide flat noodles). read more

I ordered $80 worth of food and they didn't even give spring rolls let alone egg noodles like most Chinese restaurants do......the food is good but they should be investing in any but especiall, higher paying customers more. read more

After doing some shopping in the area, we stopped at China Star located in the Hannaford Plaza for some takeout. The food here is good and cheap. They offer 65 Daily Lunch Specials ($4.05-$4.70 plus tax) served until 3PM and with served with choice of rice and soup or soda. 27 All Day Combination Plates ($5.50-$6.85 plus ttax) are also offered. We each got a Shrimp Lo Mein and Beef Lo Mein ($6.00 each) served with pork fried rice and egg roll, which was ready in 10 minutes. They gave us good portions, the lo mein very soft and with a salty aftertaste. The fried rice was yellow in color with peas & carrots and chunks of roast pork and the slightly greasy egg rolls were pretty tasty stuffed with cabbage and ground pork. Overall, this was decent food at a very reasonable price. read more

They always seem to forget something when ordering thru YELP. Either a free soup, paid egg roll and today was the $3 dollar pepsi and they wont deliver until they get another order for the driver. The food is not worth the hassle and YELP has no customer service number to call-only if you want to advertise with them. read more

Holy cow!!! We ordered from China Star last night. Wow. What a meal! We got the General Tso's chicken combo dinners. The chicken was crispy- in a good way. Not overly saucy. The pork fried rice was almost smoky in taste. Sooo good. Not greasy at all. We also got fried dumplings, awesome. I haven't been able to eat Chinese food in a very long time, because my stomach usually can't handle it. My daughter ordered first, and had us try it. Wow. Just can't believe how good it was!!! If you want good food at a good price don't go here. I used to go here years ago and it was good. Ordered November 11th 2021 and the food was horrible, dumplings were raw, hardly had anything inside of them, rice was raw, orange beef flavor was 90% batter broccoli was raw, and the prices went way up. The best Chinese I've ever had. Can't recommend them enough. Lunch specials are right on too. Foods delicious.

Get take out from there often and have never had a bad meal. You can tell they have a hard working staff and our food is always prepared quickly. Won't go anywhere else for Chinese. Highly recommend! read more

Good food and good price! Got take out and the food was prepared in a timely manner. The staff are very nice. I tried general tso's chicken with pork fried rice and my roommate got the 1/2 fried chicken with shrimp fried rice. The food is well seasoned and not too greasy. We were highly disappointed with our meal. We had heard good thing about China Star so we thought we would try it. I ordered General Tso's Chicken Combination. They forgot my egg roll and the chicken was chewy. It was so bad that neither myself or my boyfriend could eat it. He ordered the Boneless Spare Ribs Combination. Let me start by saying we have ordered from this place for a year and a half. Love it. Up until last night. With some family having some drinks. Ordered food and received it like always. We had order 2 meals with no veggies. Came with veggies. The people we were with can't/don't eat it. Not a problem. That started when we called back. They pretty much accused us of lying and said we didn't order it that way. Lady was rude as hell to my fiancé in a loud tone. We have the printed receipt that clearly said no veggies under the items. Still didn't believe us. Told us 50 minutes and not to touch the mistake food. They wanted to see it and take it back. Since two of us had meals and 2 didn't and we're drinking had to find and pay for a ride to get there so we could all eat together. When I walked in (with food in hand) they knew who I was. Never offered an apology. Just said "oh we know what happened". Told them how unprofessional and inconvenient they made things and the lady all but denied everything they did and how they acted. Pissed because that I am a GM in a restaurant and know how it wasn't handled properly, can't consciously return and support this place. People makes mistakes in food service. It happens. But how you handle it is what brings people back. Shame because now we have to find a new place for our Chinese food fix read more

The food itself is excellent, but the service is lacking. The adults leave incompetent teenagers in charge. I have been given the wrong order multiple times. Most recently someone came back in with my order that they had in their smoke filled car, and the teenager turned around and handed it to me, I paid for it and we threw the food out. Is it really that difficult to record a name or phone number when you take an order and check it when the customer comes in to pick it up???? read more

I'd go again if in the area, at least for take out. It's that kind of place. There is not much that would make you want to sit and eat there though. Menu is typical of most Chinese restaurants. Food was made in about 10 minutes and price was average for the items that we got. We only got vegetable and bean curd dishes which were both great, not overcooked or floating in too much sauce or oil. With our busy life, our two most important requirements in a restaurant are that they deliver and take credit cards - China Star does both. We haven't had a bad dish yet. We probably order delivery from here at least once a week. We've tried 3 or 4 other local chinese places but this is by far the best and we're sticking with it. Since my family and I moved to Schenectady from Brooklyn, NY we have been regular customers here. The cuisine at China Star is the best you'll find in the area. I've personally tried several menu items including the Shrimp Lo-Mein, Singapore Mei Fun, Chicken Yat Gaw Mein Soup, and Szechuan Chicken just to name a few. The service is good. Be sure to ask for your free items over a certain purchase amount. They will not remind you. You will also be charged for extra sauce. Overall I am pleased. read more
