Little local Chinese food spot close to home. I never go anywhere else for Chinese food. My picky eaters love their shrimp fried rice and I am a fan of the orange chicken with fresh orange peel. Portions are big, perfect for my family. The Chinese donuts are my absolute FAVORITE. I get 2-3 orders. They are super quick, service is always friendly. We have been customers here for many years. Last year we moved away from the area and only get here occasionally now. This was our go to Chinese food place. I do miss it for sure. The food always tastes good, the prices are fair and the portions are large. While they do have two tables the restaurant primarily deals in takeout. Long time customer but it's gone way downhill and prices keep going up. The fried rice is yellow and nasty....why is it yellow? They forget to give you sweet ad sour sauce for chicken 50% of the time and there was hardly any chicken with my Mongolian chicken... it was Mongolian onions. read more

BLUF: Don't bother, eat somewhere else! Oh my gosh...so this is what passes for Chinese food in Lithia? I ordered a spring roll, wonton, beef broccoli and hunan chicken. I ordered the hunan chicken because the menu said it was spicy and I asked to make sure it was spicy. ugh. The wonton were dark brown, like they had been twice cooked after sitting from not being sold. They were not light and crisp but tough and not appetizing. They didn't taste good or bad but bland. No amount of their sweet n' sour slurry could rescue these. Oh, and the slurry? Not sweet or sour!!! No flavor whatsoever. Hunan chicken....it was supposed to be spicy. It was not. Flavor? None. There were no indication of any spicy additions such as pepper seeds or the skins of any pepper in the dish. It was as if I was eating nondescript protein and veg and tons of corn starch with coloring. My partner had the spring roll and beef broccoli and she stopped eating her food because it was so horrible. Stay away from this place, it won't bring you happiness. Don't trust the positive reviews. While some may be genuine, this proprietor recycles their food excessively to the point that it overcooked, over sauced, under seasoned and quite possibly worse. read more

I have been going to China Star for years however the quality of their food has dropped drastically recently and tonight was the final straw. The beef sticks were tough small pieces of meat instead of strips. The meat was tough and chewy. The Chicken LoMein, which I use to love, had a fish/ shrimp taste. Picked up egg rolls and crab Rangoons for dinner. The Rangoons were average tasting. The egg rolls were amazingly delicious. The egg roll was stuffed full with cabbage and meat and served cooked perfectly. The house mustard was some of the best I've had in a long time. Service was quick and efficient. read more

The only Chinese food place in the area, which is disappointing since they screw up orders so frequently. I always say the name of the item and the item number, and it's wrong about half the time. Check your food before you leave. Ordering extra spicy is a wasted effort. Never had anything I didn't like from China Star. Staff is generally friendly. Love the variety and I can't complain about the prices. Fast and easy, cheap and tasty take out. I got the kung-pao chicken lunch special, for 5 bucks, on a Saturday! They automatically give you pork fried rice on the side with the specials, that wasn't so great for me. The wonton soup that came with was just ok. Not bad though. There are no places locally to fairly compare the food to. That said it is still very tasty and a local go-to for take-out Chinese food. It would be nice if they had delivery but I don't count that against them, just a wish list for those with busy schedules/kids. Usually a line of people waiting for their order when we get there so it must be good food! We are regular Chinese food lovers. So it's always a necessity to find a good spot by us. Upon moving to fishhawk we tried a few and struck out. Finally we tried this place and they are the keepers! We know go here about once every 2 weeks and have never been disappointed. Everything is fresh and delicious, service is always super friendly and fast, and prices and selection is great. And I don't know if it some special deal but every time we order we seem to get a free order of Krab Rangoons. At first we thought it was a mistake but it happens every time now! Couldn't be happier with this place and I give it a 5 out of 5 on the "Chinese take out restaurant scale". I just moved to the area and my friend and I decided to stop here since we both had a taste for Chinese. Its a small, mostly carry out place, with a few tables and chairs up front. I ordered what else, the General Tso and my friend ordered Ginger Chicken I believe. We went for lunch which is $5.75 and comes with a drink. I think the container weighed like 3 lbs. We couldn't believe how much food they gave us. We are both big eaters and we took enough food home for another meal. Both dishes were wonderful. We loved it so much we went back the following week. I decided to try the Mongolian beef and I can't remember what she had. My beef was SOOO good and she enjoyed her food. I let her try my beef and she loved it too. Their rice is great too. It is not a clump of stuck together rice like many Asian restaurants. The fried rice is not overly salty either. To make a long story not too long, I've been back two more times once with the original friend and I took another friend the last time. She LOVED it as much as we did. I agree with James P. It seems like a waste of time asking for the food extra spicy. Each time I reiterated I like REALLY HOT spicy food. But, it never comes out that way. Oh well...
