I picked the wrong decade to go on a diet... Since falling in love with Chinese cuisine some 24 years ago, this is the best restaurant I've found - and I've had some amazing meals in the past 24 years.
The restaurant is small (but not cramped), the decor is basic (almost non-existent) and there's the obligatory Chinese music in the background... but you won't notice any of that because the food looks and tastes so good that it steals the show. The generous portion sizes (one serving can easily feed 2 people) are only surpassed by the genius quality and taste of the food.
Stand out dishes tonight were the Buddha Parcels on the starter menu, and the Kung Po Chicken & Special Malaysian Satay for the mains.
Looking at what other people were eating, and how quiet they were whilst eating it, I'm guessing that pretty much everything on the menu is worth writing about. I'll be testing that assertion over the next 8 months or so as I work my way through the menu!
Meals cost about £25 per head including drinks, assuming you are too full after the main course to consider a dessert. I was so full I vowed never to eat again as I left clutching a doggie bag containing what remained of the main course to eat later for supper.
As well as the small dining room downstairs (seats about 12), there's also a larger room upstairs - I've not been in it yet, but judging by the size of the party that came in I'm guessing it can hold about 20 upstairs. Staff are friendly, attentive and responsive to your needs - you're not left waiting around wondering where your drink is, etc. Freshly cooked food arrives at your table quickly but calmly, but I saw a note on the menu stating that Dim Sum dishes take a bit longer to prepare.
