Honestly, I just have to share it some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I wanted it to be good. I've been looking for a good place in Mobile. But if I can keep somebody else from making the same mistake. It's very oily and no real flavor. Maybe it was a dish I had. I had Hunan chicken, but it was so oily and lacking in any flavor. This is one of the go to Chinese pick up snd take outs. They are always fast and consistent. They do have a couple of tables inside, but it is not made for ambiance. What it lacks in visible appeal, it makes up in speed. We like several things. The hot and sour is great. The fried rice is good, and general chicken is good. They do not have my favorite type of egg roll, but they are not bad. Don't expect something fancy, but the food is good, fresh, and hot. read more

It's really a shame that Mobile just can't seem to support a good Chinese take out place. I try, I really do by spending copious amounts of money at the few places we have here. I am sure my cardiologist would prefer I didn't but life is too short. I have tried China One several times now but sadly I just can't recommend them. Prices are fine and in alignment with all the others. And like most of the Chinese take out here you don't eat in the restaurant. , God no you would never eat in the restaurant. It's almost a meme for what a Chinese take out place looks like. Hazy, grease covered pics of some of the menu items above the order window that looks like a 1980''s DMV. One egg roll with my vehicle registration please. All that would be fine if the food was worth it but it's not. The food is soggy, clearly cooked in old oil (believe me you can tell) and just strange seasoning. They like garlic here I can tell you that. Vampires be warned. I gave 2 stars because in the end I did eat my meal as opposed to throwing it out. It's Chinese food. I love Chinese food and dang it I will eat it no matter how bad. God help me if I ever run across Chinese food I won't eat...that will be historic. We get take out about once per month. Last night I was picking up my order and watched a cook pick pieces of cooked chicken that spilled on to the floor and put it back into a bowl with other pieces. Oct 2022 Middle of the road Chinese place. I had the General Tso's chicken dinner (came with rice and egg roll) and a cup of Hot n' Sour soup. Overall impression = this is a business that your money. No real pride on the plate. Egg Roll: was at least 8/10. Great balance of flavors and crunch. 100% my favorite thing from this meal. General Tao's Chicken: It was okay. 6-6.5/10. The chicken was a bit soggy and the sauce used was generic. No spiciness at all, which was disappointing. Nothing special here. I've had MUCH better and MUCH worse. Rice: It was okay. 6-6.5/10. The rice tasted like it'd been sitting under a heat lamp for a while but still had decent flavor. I've had MUCH worse and MUCH better. Hot n' Sour soup: Missed the mark. 4/10. The soup has a nice base with great balance of flavors - but then it's overwhelmed with the flavor of lettuce. I've had a ton of Hn'S soup and this is the first time I've ever encounter lettuce in it. (Maybe it's bok choy? Hard to tell) Regardless, it detracts from the essence of the broth and overpowers the dish. Don't like it. But, it the lettuce was removed, might been a decent dish. Service: The lady who took my order was very transactional and businesslike. There was no hospitality besides a stern "thank you." This impersonal exchange is bound to negatively impact the business - especially in the South where passive-aggressiveness and judgmental "politeness" reign supreme. Atmosphere: I'd be shocked if anyone ever ate in the tiny little waiting room provided. But for the sake of the review, the sitting area is worn and grungy. Not inviting at all. read more

Our go to for our Chinese cravings. My family of 6 and I eat hear at least once every 1-2 weeks. Mainly because we are only 5-7 minutes away from it but we love being able to call in our orders and then picking them up 15-20 minutes later. The food is always hot and fresh and is packaged amazingly. The staff is pretty friendly and nice. I would not recommend this restaurant to sit and eat in as the door is always opening and shutting, the workers kids are usually at one table, and it's a smaller lobby, however call in ordering and walk-in ordering is highly recommended. You also get a lot of portions. I usually order a large order of General Tso's chicken with fried rice and can eat off it for 2-3 days. Again, highly recommend it!!! read more

Your average go-to place when you want fresh Chinese takeout!! Really good hot and sour soup, it has a couple different varieties of mushrooms, bokchoy, celery, tofu-comes with chicken but you can ask for it without. Fried rice is below par, not much flavor at all. The tofu with mixed vegetables is delicious, they even made it spicy for me!! Service is fast too. I'm a regular now! read more

Terrible experience. Besides the nearly crippling language barrier, the owner and staff proved incredibly incompetent. While everyone can have a bad day, this was not the case. They claimed my meal had been given to someone else. I asked repeatedly, pointing to a specific meal waiting for pick up, 'are you sure? I believe that one is mine'. Repeatedly I asked this and was told again and again 'no no no, this one not yours'. I tried showing my ticket, I tried asking them to check. After forty-five minutes of waiting for my food (which I had already paid for) to be remade, I had enough and asked for a refund. She responds by looking in that bag that had been sitting there the whole time and says 'oh this one yours, here you go!' Sure enough it was mine. And it will be the last time I try China One. read more

Decent food, apart from the hot and sour soup, it's gloopy from way too much cornstarch, thick like gravy. The beef and mushroom lunch special was very reasonably priced considering the portion size and the veggies it contained were incredibly fresh tasting. However, the egg roll was fairly gross, even by Mobile-strip-mall-chinese standards. The shrimp mei fun was good all together, no complaints. I was quoted a wait time of 15 minutes when I called in the order, it actually took 48 minutes to receive the food and the woman behind the counter was neither friendly, nor apologetic. I didn't point out the fact that the food was taking so long, but any time the wait time is 3 times what you were quoted a simple, "sorry about the wait" goes a long way. This was my family's "Go To" place for chinese for about 9 or so years. Last year things went downhill. (Some people say new owners- It HAS to be true.) The pork in pork fried rice was a brownish tan color, as if it was old and left out, when you order the low mein you will get soggy Ramin Noodles, and the sesame chicken is chewy as if it was old and reheated. I miss the family that use to run it. They never would have allowed this. Ive never had a bad experience with them! Now, I never have a good experience. And dont get me wrong, I understand some restaurants might have bad days.....but I gave these new owners 4 chances (few months in between each visit). - If you arent prepared to work as hard to prepare food as fresh as the old owners, then you have no right to claim yourselves as "China One" - that put a bad mark on the owners that made that name what it was when you took over, and you are running that name to the ground. read more

Nice Chinese place for take out. Not t a place to dine out but they do have 5 tables. We bought take out a couple of weeks ago and were very pleased with everything. Nice portions, great taste, and the order was correct. For good Chinese food I would have to go with a 5 star but for the whole deal, this just isn't a sit down restaurant. Nice people, good service, no frills but they know what they are doing. We have tried several dishes and all good. Love the hot and sour soup and the crab Rangoon was spot on! Only took 15 min to get my order from time I walked in. The food was hot and very fresh, portion size was very large for lunch and the price was low for quality and quantity. The lady taking orders needs a lesson in manners. She was on the phone talking and she was not taking orders, she was more than loud and waited on others when she was on the phone. I guess that's why she got my order slightly wrong... Word of advice to staff, stay off the phone and pay attention to the customer because I sure would not walk up and be talking to someone and also be placing my order. read more

Watch their pricing! I order the exact same items all the time. Everytime I go to pick up the food they try to charge me a different price. After this last time of arguing with them and them having to change the total again, I've decided to just order take out somewhere else. They aren't the only Chinese take out in town. read more

Used this place many times in the past few years. It's been hit and miss. Sometimes you get fresh food, others you get reheated or soggy smelly stuff. After the third bad experience I just had to cross them out from my goto places. First time I received some gross smelling chicken and half cooked rice and called them to complaine they said to bring it back for refund or replacement, of course I just threw it away. But the next time I got real bad tasting rubbery and obviously reheated chicken and smelly noodles, I couldn't help it not to wonder if someone had indeed returned their food and somehow it ended up my order? read more

We do takeout from here about once a week. The hot and sour soup is consistently good, and the mei fun (rice noodle) dishes are great.
