As a college student I lived off of China May. It's convenient and near all the major shopping area and most importantly it's cheap and delicious for a take out restaurant. Each time I've gone here I have never been disappointed with their food, it was always piping hot and didn't require much time. The people there are incredibly nice and generous with their portion sizes. I think my favorite part about China May is how awesome their lunch menu is. The portion sizes are huge and at the time it was all $3.95-$4.95 (back then) for the main dish, a side of rice, fried rice, etc and soup. But now that inflation has gone up the prices are now $5-$7 per, but it's still great prices. Service is nice as well, when it's not busy they bring out your food to the table when it's ready instead of calling for you and even bring you utensils and etc. Overall they're lovely people and are always happy to greet you. read more

First of all this place has the fastest delivery time I've ever experienced. I don't care what the weather is like, they come through so fast a lot of times I'm not even prepared to answer the door yet. Anyway, let's talk about the food. I can only speak for the things I've tried over the pass ten years I've been ordering. The general tso chicken and general shrimp is good as hell. You cannot go wrong if you get the ribs(bone in). Best pork fried rice in the Mays Landing area. I've tried a few Chinese places in Galloway and it was kind of trash compare to China May. Now when you actually go in to order your food you may encounter a rude lady. It's only one rude lady, the others are decent. I don't think she's rude on purpose though and I really don't care. Been going here for years, had most everything on the menu, I pretty much like almost everything on there menu. The fried dumplings, boneless spare ribs, general tso chicken, Young Chow Fried Rice, asparagus and beef, bean sprout and rice are among there best dishes as well as the duck. Out of all the chinese places in the Mays Landing area this place is the best and is the fastest at serving customers even when they are busy, And is by far the most cleanest Chinese take out place in the area cleaner then The Great Wall or other places near it. I have a hard time with the cooks that use there hands then wipe there nose then decide to cook again. Am I the only person who thinks this is disgusting? So we called for a delivery at 5:38 they said 40 min ok no problem at 6:43 I called back to see if the order went out the lady on the phone said be there in 10 minutes 25 minutes goes by I call again asking if the order left so I get this big story about how busy they are with deliveries which is understandable but then this rude lady hangs up on me !! Horrible take out! Once you get it home there is nothing you can do!!! Spare ribs tasted like they have been cooking for days! Dried out and no meat on the bone, dripping with this horrible red topping. Took one bite and threw it out! Gave us hot sauce instead of duck sauce which ruined one meal entirely. The food quality & customer service experience has gone done tremendously. The assitant cashier is very rude to customers & even delivery drivers. Food & customer service needs to raise to expectations like in the past about 6-7 yeara ago when they had the mays landing & somers point locations. Ordered a shrimp lunch special, fried wontons and scallion pancakes. The fried wontons were delicious. I didn't really like they are served with sweet and sour sauce but I dipped them in dumpling sauce and they were perfect. The scallion pancakes were the best I've ever had anywhere. They were flaky and seasoned perfectly. The shrimp special was ok. The rice was good but there was something off about the sauce. I couldn't put my finger on it. Overall a good lunch. This is a review for the Somers Point China May. To avoid any suspense, China May not. We had to repeat our order multiple times, including requests for house mustard cups and chop sticks. Neither were in the bag, which was delivered by a nice perky young lady, but who had to call us whenshe got lost. She did not have our condo unit number, despite stating it on the phone 4 times. We were quoted a total of $34.00 on the phone, but the receipt was for over $36.00, probably the tax. We still don't know if there was a delivery charge, but we tiped her anyway. I digress. As to the food, we picked up the bag of spare ribs, only to have the botton tear open. Out flopped on to my counter several not too meaty, over cooked over sweetened ribs. Nothing that a roll of bounty towels could not handle. The mongolian beef with scallions was good. Plenty of beef and not too sweet, but a little salty. Upon rippinfg open the mustard packet, (only 3 for all this food?), some unrecognzable watery mucous type substance flowed out , which coould be spilled in the sink simply by tipping the plate. Small but unique problem in my lifetime of chinese takeout. Unfortunately, the menu did not have steamed vegetable dumplings, so I ordered the chicken ones. They were standard fare, but the accompanying sause was watered down, On to the next entree. The steamed chicken was ok, but the pieces were small. The cashews were sprinkled on top sunday style. The string beans were bountiful, sweet and fresh. The brown rice was cooked to perfection and was the highlight of the meal. This is our usual spot for chinese food in Mays Landing. (Not many options). They usually did a fairly decent job making our favorites like General Chicken, Chicken and Broccoli, Chow Mien, House Fried Rice, and Wonton Soup. However, in the last 6 months items are not consistent. Chicken and broccoli had a weird texture like it was boiled with overcooked broccoli and the general chicken sauce lacked flavor. Egg rolls have always sucked....just filled with cabbage and little flavor except fryer oil. I've driven as far as 40min out of our way for good flavorful fresh chinese food. Went on a Saturday. Very few customers. Ordered the lunch combo of fried wings and shrimp fried rice. The rice was over cooked and bland like typical takeout cooked rice. The shrimp was the only thing that was tasty about it. The rice was not really good so I wound up throwing most of it out. The wings were so so. Piping hot right out of the fryer. I had four with my rice. They weren't the best but the skin made them alright. I was asked to eat in or take out so I said eat in. When my food was ready, it was in a bag for take out. No matter, I just sat down and ate it. No greeting from the cashier as she seemed nervous about me and made me pay first. Me and my husband are in the army we live in washington state! My husband is from Mays landing... On Christmas Eve while visiting family we went on a date here... when we walked through the door there were two girls behind the counter...we were not greeted, as I began to ask questions about the menu, the woman with the tan sweater had the biggest attitude in the WORLD like my questions were dumb...I remained polite thinking maybe she was having a bad day! My husband ordered, and I sat at the table still reading the menu...i swear to you this woman walked up to me and asked me "you ordering or not!" After gathering my thoughts and trying to refrain from cussing her out... i ordered ( my husband swears there food is good) !! As we waited for our food two white gentlemen entered the store and these females transformed "MERRY CHRISTMAS SIR WHAT CAN I GET YOU TODAY" smiling from ear to ear... Went to the restaurant for take out. When I arrived to order the person taking the order was picking at her face while looking at the mirror. No greeting. Ordered fresh pork in garlic sauce and wanted to know what vegetables were included and got an attitude for asking. Also ordered Mongolian beef with just white onions. Mongolian beef had little beef and a whole lot of onions and no spice. I have eaten at this restaurant a lot but this will be my last visit.
