Visiting Tampa and HAD to get Latin Chinese food like I did growing up. Wow! Lunch special is a great price. Lots of parking. Absolutely delicious. Side orders are big! Plantain options include: fried green plantain, sweet plantain, and mofongo ( !! ) They had 4 parties waiting for food but still got our order out in 10 minutes which is impressive. We were not in a rush though. I recommend: Pork spare ribs as a combo with pork fried rice. Add fries and your favorite type of plantain! w/ duck sauce(orange sauce packets) The fried green plantains included a good garlic sauce/oil. Why 3 stars? Because the concept outdoes the product. --- --- --- One afternoon, I reached into my mailbox, and grabbed a bunch of ads, as usual. As I was walking directly to the trash can to throw it all away, I happened to notice a flier for a place called China Latina. I love Chinese. I love Latin food. Are you freaking kidding me? A hybrid of the two? I basically couldn't stop thinking about this place for a few days, until I finally gave in to nature, and went to check it out. It's not normal for me to eat at a place these days with minimal Yelp activity, I was blinded by the thought of Latin & Chinese food married together. Well... it turns out that they don't really do Chinese or Latin very well. My chicken tasted very strange, as did my fiance's. In theory, this was going to be an epic, hole-in-the-wall find... but it turned out to be quite the bust. I am feeling generous, hence the 3-star review for food that wasn't very tasty, and let my stomach feeling a little uneasy afterward. I'm casting the wide-stretched wings of the "benefit of the doubt" here, and hoping that I caught them on a bad night, or that I ordered the wrong dish. Please, God... I don't know that I can give 5 stars to a place that isn't fine dining, barbeque or my absolute favorite within a cuisine, but I was really tempted to with China Latina. Everything about my visit to China Latina (except for the egg roll which was so-so) far exceeded my expectations. Something happened where I had to wait a little longer than they said on the phone, but I was almost happy it happened, because their response to the mistake showed how much they care about their customers, which is very important to me. My wife and I were both shocked by how moist and delicious the fried rice and lo mein were. The bourbon chicken was very good, and we also had sweet and sour chicken, which of course nobody can screw up! I drove by this place for almost a year and a half after moving down the street. I've never tried the Latin food and I'm not very daring when it comes to Chinese food (fried rice and chicken are my go-to dishes) but they do a nice job. They do both styles very poorly but if I had to pick the chines food is a little better. It's still very greasy and heavily sauced fast food next to a ghetto liquor store. You can see the sign from the Busch Gardens entrance area. I was intrigued by a combination of Chinese and Latin food and I'm always up to try new things. We were a bit hesitant after reading some of he reviews but I wanted to try it anyways. It's a typical takeout joint with about 6-8 tables for dining. When we first got there it was empty but by the time we got our food the tables were full and a line in the waiting area. We were there Saturday night at around 8pm. The portions were large and the taste was good! My husband says it's the best orange chicken he's ever had! There were strips of orange rind in the sauce and had a nice orange flavor. The mofongo was interesting. Can't say too much about it as I've never had it before and have nothing to compare it to but it was okay. Don't know if I'll order it next time. We also ordered the general's chicken and fried plantains which didn't disappoint. We don't live in the area but we will definitely visit again when we go to Busch Gardens. read more

I've enjoyed all of my visits to China Latina. I haven't tried the Latin food, but the Chinese is good for the price, especially considering the large portions. I paid around $10 for a general Tso combo, and I was surprised to find that the takeout container felt like it weighed five pounds. It was completely loaded when I opened it. Employees are very nice and run the restaurant well. It's too bad they don't have delivery! I recommend trying this place out if you're looking for a classic Chinese place. read more
