I suggest not eating here after 7pm, even though the place is open till 9pm. It seems that 7pm is the time when they start cleaning (sweeping) the floors. Having people "sweep" the floors and rugs off with a broom around food is disgusting. That sweeping action causes dust to float up and around the area, settling on the buffets of food and on the food that people are eating at their tables. The food is always hot and fresh, I eat here if not once a week, biweekly inside or takeout for the past 8 years! Manager is rude! Me, an African American came there with my friend. She had a to go plate and as for me I was staying there to eat she was done paying for food. It wasn't busy in there and we weren't in the way. We were standing conversing with each other when he sent his employe to come and stand next to us while we're talking! I ask her if were in there way she said no. "Manager told me to come stand here," with no other explanation of why. That got my friend upset and told her we're just talking no need to come hover over us I already paid for my food and she's staying to eat. The employee apologized and left us. The whole time I was there he and I stared at each other and He sent another employee to bring my bill shortly after I sat down with my first plate of food. Before I left had told the same lady he sent to stand by us to tell her manager what he did was rude of him and we didn't appreciate that, the manager which wasn't sitting far from the cash register heard me saying it to the employee and he didn't apologize just laughed at me as I was walking out of the restaurant. read more

This place is absolutely terrible the staff does not want to be there and treat you as such the food is always cold and very few selections we received our drinks and CO2 was out we asked for the machine to be fixed and for new drinks it wasn't until we were leaving that we received another set of drinks after asking for a third time the CO2 still was not fixed they still insisted on charging me for the drinks this place is overpriced, and suddenly charge a flat rate for Buffet and drink included which is not on the price scale on the door and windows, 16.99 is outrageous for this place go somewhere else! read more

I've been here a few times. There's a good variety of food and it's usually fresh; depending on the time of day you go. I usually come for lunch and the closer you come to 11:00 AM the better. I've never had any problems with overcharging and prefer this place to some of the others in the area. read more

This place deserves a 5.0! Everytime I go for Friday lunch buffet, the food is always super fresh and delicious. I have been to every Chinese restaurant within 30 mins of this place. Ahh, China King, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... 1) Extremely inexpensive. When I was still living in Fargo, I could get lunch for under $10 and not have to eat for the rest of the day. 2) Friendly staff. Keep in mind, it's been nearly 6 years since I last ate at China King but, after going there frequently, it got to the point where they knew what I was going to order to drink. And since that's about the only service you can expect (it IS a buffet, folks), that's still a pretty good thing. 3) Good variety. For being a relatively small buffet, they've got a great selection! Personally, I'd always hit up the Sweet n' Sour Chicken, General Tso's, and a few other things. 4) Parking. I never once had a problem finding a parking spot when I went there, and typically I was able to park right in front of the door. Probably not the best thing when you're stuffing yourself at a buffet, though. Heh. *Edit* I'm editing this to drop the number of stars. I'm disappointed that I had to do so but I was highly disappointed with my last visit. Most of the food was barely warm. The service, like always was mediocre - but then again, it's a buffet. After a long day's drive I get into West Fargo at almost 9pm and am hungry. I want some veggies since you really can't get decent veggies while driving. China King wisely left a stack of menus at the check in counter of the hotel I was staying at. It was close to 9pm so I opted to drive over since they were getting ready to close. I ordered hot and sour soup and shredded pork in garlic sauce to go. I get back to the hotel and find they had not provided me with any utensils so I ate a few piping hot veggies and slurp some soup and head to bed. The pork was more like sliced roast pork than shreds and the veggies were good and plentiful but the garlic sauce was missing garlic, ginger and some heat. The soup had a nice sour tang and a bit of heat. CK would not be a preferred spot for Chinese but they certainly do ok in a pinch. read more

Awful. Went to this buffet at 5pm on a Wednesday evening and hardly any food was hot. Nothing looked fresh, some items were just empty pans. Tried to charge us for four adults and never asked what age the kids were. When my wife asked to have the kids charged at the kids rate the cashier got an attitude. Used to be a great place for cheap but good Chinese so it's a disappointment that I have to write such a negative review. read more

Here for lunch on a Saturday around 3pm, the hard boiled eggs were spoiled, there was HAIR in the Lo Mein. The prices were ridiculous for their selection. The reason they got two stars was for their dim sum and sweet and sour chicken. Those were pretty good. We told the manager and she didn't even care. Never again. THIS PLACE WILL STEAL FROM YOU!!!!! In the last ~year I have been here 4 times, and each time they make a "mistake" on our tab and have to refund us between $5-10. The first time we were charged for 4 children, instead of 3. I thought this might have been an honest mistake. a month or so later they up-charged my youngest two children to the next age bracket and claimed to be bad at guessing kids ages (and didn't bother asking). the next time a month or two later, I was very wary of this place, and again, they didn't ask ages and up-charged my kids without ever asking the ages. I asked to see the manager that time and he just nonchalantly refunded me $5, like it was a very ordinary happening. and the last time, I mean LAST, was today. We hadn't been there in 9 months, but we were in a rush and it was really convenient, so we gave them another chance. This time I didn't give them the opportunity to screw it up. I went up to pay before she brought the tab and told her my kids ages. She gave me the total, it sounded high, ($51) so I confirmed with her 2 adults, one 9 year old, one 6 year old, and one 3 year old. she said yes, and she even read me the prices for each back to me. It was $10.79/adult, $7.35 for the older 2 kids, and $5.25 for the youngest. But somehow my total came to $51... it sounded odd to me, but I was thinking tax, drinks maybe... (drinks ARE included but I wasn't sure). I got back to the table and added it up. $41 was the real total. I went back up there and was pretty P.O.ed. I said you overcharged me $10. she said, oh, ok sorry, I didn't know the kids ages. WHAAATT?!? I told you their ages right before you rang it up, AND you said it back to me twice. then she said, "oh, i guess computer is making wrong calculation." THESE PEOPLE ARE THEIVES. it is obvious to me now that it is their policy to overcharge ~10% and they probably get away with it 90% of the time. I would highly discourage supporting this establishment, but if you do, double check your ticket. especially if you have kids. don't let yourself be an easy target for these crooks. P.S. just noticed on here that Glen M. on 6/11/2013 had the exact same experience with them charging for extra people and up-charging for kids. Obviously not just me. Robbery in plain sight. Just stopped in to try and eat here last night. The young girl working was sweeping the carpet by the door and wouldn't move when we came in. She then stared at us like "what do you think you are doing here". I said 2 please and she rolled her eyes at us and frowned. We said if that's the way you are going to treat us we'll just go somewhere else. She just stared at us and didn't say anything as we walked out the door. I said "Really that's how you are going to treat us" and she just kept staring not saying a word. I thought maybe they close at 8pm so we were late but it looks like they are supposed to be open until 9:30 so I think she just wanted to go home early.
