It's a small restaurant and they seem to do most of their business in takeout orders. Staff were polite and food was ready by the time we got there. They give you a lot of food for what you pay for. Dropped in to try the pu pu platter. Also ordered chicken on a stick and fried dumplings. This place is tiny and seems to do mostly takeout. Typical old school Chinese decor. Sit where you want and waiter will take your order when he gets around to it. Chicken on a stick was good. Pu pu platter was okay except for the ribs which were very fatty and dry. Fried dumplings were kind of dry but OK. They have a lunch special menu that I might try if I am in the neighborhood. It's only $10. So its a maybe for me. read more

Where do I start? Flavorless Tao's chicken. The "fried rice" that accompanied it was more like prefab Spanish rice with frozen peas. The lean wonton was also clearly a frozen product. And the egg roll was cool in temp and had almost zero vegetable inside. Super disappointing as this was was birthday dinner. Will NEVER order here again. The food...*deep sigh*... I'm compelled to say how lackluster this experience was. I try to remind myself not to have 'high expectations' when it comes to Central Florida and its American Chinese food, and this was another 'not it!' The Shrimp lo mein was flavorless and had extremely mushy noodles. Thankful I had extra soy sauce, oyster sauce, and msg on hand to help this one. The chicken wings were hard and over fried. The platters' only star was the beef teriyaki. The wontons and crab ragoon were hard and inedible, the 'spareribs' were overcooked and hard, the fried shrimp tasted like they were previously frozen and were hard as rocks, the spring rolls were mushy and had a weird 'metallic' aftertaste. we did a take out for the lunch orange chicken and crab rangoons and They over charged us the wrong price and then when we brought it to their attention they were annoyed and still charged us the wrong price!!! bad customer service and so messed up that they stole extra money for us even after they claimed they fixed it... The bourbon chicken had some dry pieces. Our order got to the house at 11:50 AM so they couldn't have been open very long. I would order from here again. The good was you can easily order off their websites without having an account. My food was prepared fresh and before the estimated time. The bad was the service I received during my pick up, no greeting and no salutation. The gentleman just walked away before I even signed my receipt without saying anything. We have ordered several times. It's your standard local Chinese food place. I decided to try something new last night and was disappointed to arrive home to find the corn & chestnuts not in my meal which was one of the reasons I picked the dish. We checked the menu & receipt to make sure both were the same - they were so we called. The guy who answered the phone spoke to the chef who said they were out of them so they just didn't include them. Since there was only 3 vegetables in the dish to begin with, leaving out two is not ok but, the guy said they would give us a credit for the next time and apologized. I told him just have communication with your customers so they can decide if they still want that meal and there won't be an issue. On a great note, my in a sauce was great. I ordered shrimp lo mein for dine-in. Upon first bite all I noticed was there was an insane amount of salt. Salt is not my ideal way to add flavor to food... It was overpowering and I can't comment on the rest of the food. There wasn't a lot of shrimp in my lo mein, so that was disappointing. In order to spice up my food, I asked for chili oil on the side and it was burned. That means the spice is no longer useful and i'm adding burnt particles in oil to my meal. No thanks. As someone who cooks frequently, I know it is easy to burn chili oil. I would never serve this to a friend and would just make a new batch. FYI: The menu online is for to-go. If you dine in, you won't get the option to order the smaller quart-size of things. So there's two sizes of lo mein. If you dine-in, you can only order large. read more

This is always our go to for a Chinese take out. The portions are massive which always gives us food for lunch the next day. Our go to is the Sweet and sour chicken, Orange Chicken and Burbon all a great hit as well as the Spring rolls. I love that the White rice comes with it for free and the service is always amazing. My family ordered a full on spread for takeout from China Garden last night. It was my first Chinese takeout dinner in literal YEARS. I don't know why, I just don't think to ever get Chinese takeout. But boy oh boy this was a treat. Not only were they super fast. Everything was super hot still when we got it home. They give plenty of soy sauce packets and fortune cookies, and rice. White rice comes with every entree order. I enjoyed the chicken and broccoli most! The chicken fried rice was also a top item. The General Tso Chicken was really really sweet, heads up. The food and service here is really good. The first time I tried the food was on the occasion of a delivery. It was very prompt and very professional. As far as the food goes, vegetables were crisp and very fresh, the meats were very tasty. I highly recommend this place. The embroidery artwork was astounding and really worth the visit. My wife and I LOVE takeout Chinese food. Like, eating the egg rolls in the car on the way home, love it. So we saw that China Garden was open during quarantine for takeout orders, and I finally was tired of cooking. My daughter needed to get out of the house, and I needed wonton soup. Like, dreaming about the car ride all day needed it. I was not disappointed. My wife flat refused to share her General Tso's chicken with me. Normally, we split things. Not this time! She even growled at me and slapped my hand away from the bowl. I settled for my Sesame Chicken, which I promptly ate WAY too much of. The wonton soup was excellent, the egg rolls and spicy mustard made my week, and my wife inhaled her spring rolls. Best part?!? We have more than enough for tomorrow's lunch. And if I can stretch it, tomorrow's dinner. WELL worth the price for it. Not to mention - we've tried several other takeout places closer to home, and my wife insisted that the next time we got it, we stopped here. That's an endorsement! read more

Decided to use the yelp app for the first time to get food delivered, and what a good choice China Garden was! The whole process of ordered was extremely simple, fast and to the point. I guess the order was filled through grub hub and it went very smooth. Delivery estimate was 45-55 minutes... the knock on the door was exactly 50 minutes. As for the food, the curry chicken was probably the best curry chicken I've had from a Chinese restaurant. For once it was actually spicy. Not too much, but just right. There was plenty of white meat, along with onions, carrots and snap peas. It came with a choice of rice, and the fried was good. The meal was plenty for 2 sittings. We also ordered the shrimp mei fun (sp?). The noodles were cooked to perfection and it all had great flavor. Usually at a Chinese restaurant the soup is included. I'm not sure why it wasn't here, and it was the only negative I can find for this place. But it wasn't a big deal as a large tub of egg drop was only $2. Well worth it !! Tip: Do yourself a favor and order your next Chinese delivery / takeout from here! I've been ordering delivery from China Garden for about 7 years now. In all that time, I can honestly say that not only have I always been satisfied with the food, I've also been extremely satisfied with the service. Turnover is not high at China Garden, so you'll get to know the staff even if you aren't ordering as often as I do. Everyone here is friendly, professional and truly makes you feel like a valued customer. An item you've probably not seen often (if at all) is the wontons Hunan style. I recommend getting them steamed, the sauce is delish! I also enjoy the crispy tofu from time to time, it's a yummy meatless alternative and the dipping sauce is light and tasty! All dishes are good, but I tend to like the Hunan dishes (lot's of veggies). Ultimately, you can't go wrong if you're looking for a solid Chinese restaurant. Enjoy! read more

I don't think this place is as bad as they describe it. I order delivery food from here (Vegetables steamed dumplings and Chicken mei fun), and the guy on the phone was very polite and quoted me about 50 min for delivery on a Friday night, which is totally reasonable. I got my delivery right about the 50th minute and the young guy that delivered the food was very nice and smiley (when most of the time you get a serious bland person knocking on your door). The food wasn't bad BUT my only comment about it is that instead of using regular mushrooms they used portobello mushrooms which I can't stand. I'm not sure if this is their regular thing or it just happened that they ran out of regular mushrooms (I work at a restaurant and sometimes they would do this) but I wasn't fond of it! Tried this place out since I normally go across the street to the grove at Shanghi this place was expensive compared to across the street and the food wasn't as good the broccoli was mushy and the chicken dry they gave me more rice than chicken and broccoli. This is honestly as good as it gets for quick Chinese food that is delivered. I've ordered from so many bad places over the years, and China Garden easily has the best food, and has been in business forever. As a rule of thumb, never get mushy food delivered unless you want to complain. (ie Moo Shu, chow mein, etc.) I got egg rolls, crab rangoon, General Tso's chicken, and Special Lo Mein. We got our food to go on a Saturday evening (2 people). On the phone we were told it would be ready in 15 minutes. We got there 15 minutes later... and didn't have our order for an additional 1/2 hour. That's 45 minutes. There was only one table eating when we arrived and one more arrived while we waited. I don't think our order got put in until we got there. Fortunately we checked our order before we left as it was wrong. The brown rice and vegetable lo mein was good. The fried veggie dumplings weren't like any dumplings I've ever had- it was more like bread pockets with some vegetables in them. I didn't care for them. The Kung Pao shrimp did taste good but not like Kung Pao; no spice unless you ate one of the chili peppers. For the sweet and sour shrimp, they look like big fried blobs. My husband didn't like it. Finally, the fortune cookies were stale. All in all not very good except for the noodles. I would try fried rice if I came again. Absolutely shocked at the reviews! Our favorite Chinese delivery place recently closed and we are searching for another. This is the 3rd one so far. I ordered 5 flavored chicken, garlic chicken, steamed dumplings, and vegetable egg rolls. First, the dumplings were tossed out after a couple of bites by a man who lives for dumplings. He described them as stuffed with "filler meat" and said he just wasn't comfortable eating them. I jumped right in to my 5 flavored chicken. First it was FRIED! I've never had fried 5-flavor chicken but I thought maybe it would be OK - it wasn't. The meat was so dry and hard it was a work out for my jaw! Again, it was tossed out after a few bites. I tried the egg rolls with little hope after I saw them. Two bites and gone. Finally the garlic chicken was described as "cheap tasting". "Vile" and "frozen" are the best descriptors I can give for the food we received. The search for decent Chinese delivery in Dr Phillips continues. Skip it! read more
