Bummer! I wanted to like this little place because it's the epitome of a local, family-owned business, and it's close to our house. Instead, the takeout I got recently was so bad that now I feel I have to warn others away. Considering the lunch special and an extra app I just ate, there's no way the good reviews below ate the same food I did. Still, because it was so terrible I won't be going back, so this one sample will have to do. The hot and sour soup was - literally - closer to dishwater than soup. Bland, thin, and with a nasty aftertaste. Whatever that stuff was it stuck in my throat for hours after. The lunch special was okay, I guess, a meat mix with veggies in a brown sauce - but thick and sticky, not light and flavorful. The dumplings were heavy and lacking flavor, but not terrible. Other major complaints: 1) The reception/pick-up area itself is dirty, verging on filthy. Based on the crap on the walls, windows, and counters, this is not a recent development. If I hadn't already ordered by phone I never would have ordered once seeing the condition of this little shop. I'm a firm believer in the old saying, "If it looks like this out front where the customers can see, imagine what it looks like in back in the kitchen"; 2) Portion size. I know, I know, you can't complain about the quality and then about not getting enough of it. But, assuming you've ever ordered out at any Chinese restaurant in your life, this will be the smallest portion you've ever seen. It reminded me of a Lunchable, those little snack-packs you get at the grocery store. Bottom line, and I truly regret this, China Express is completely unacceptable. I'm giving this place two stars because the flavor tasted like it usually does. I have eaten here Too many times to count. I like several of the dishes but I'm fond of the pork with garlic sauce. I have noticed since Covid that the prices keep going up and the portion keeps going down. Before Covid the entire container was full and it was a very even mix of meat and vegetables. Today was different again. I ordered the shredded pork with garlic and they put your food in those black leftover containers with a clear cover. My dish did not look like it was half full. I ordered soup and egg rolls as well, my total was $24. I am done with this place. Today there was more gristle and fat in my dish then there was meat. I guess they ran out of trash bags because they put all the garbage in my bowl. ! I have complained about this more than once. I think the only way you can teach people a lesson is with money. I'll be taking my $150.00 a month business somewhere else. And who remembers ordering Chinese food at restaurants and you always got an eggroll with your dinner. That's another way they're able to make extra money. All restaurants that are Chinese and Asian quit giving eggrolls away with the meals or at least the ones around Montgomery county. That used to be just a standard staple when you order Chinese food. I have no idea what cut of meat they're using there but as little meat as they give you you would think they could use the finest pork available. Pork loin is only about two bucks a pound. I guess you have to go into Conroe now if you want really good Chinese food. I know there's a good restaurant on the 336 North Loop East of I 45 which is another 20 minute drive but if that's where you have go to get good food, so be it. I have been ordering delivery for the last few months now. All my orders have been fast, hot and tasty. They always honor my request for extra crispy fried items. The order takers and delivery guys are always friendly. Last night we ordered the family dinner for 2. Even though the menu listed Moo Goo Gai Pan and General Tso's Chicken (which we had), she said we could order any two entrees. It came with House Fried Rice, choice of Eggroll or Crab puff, choice of soup and a 2-liter of soda. I added an order of Crispy Noodles for the soup. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was chock full of vegetables and plenty of sliced chicken. The sauce was a tad thin and bland, but better with a little Soy Sauce added. The General Tso's was sticky and sweet and spicy and delicious. The House Fried Rice was delicious and full of Egg, shrimp, chicken, beef and pork. It did have too many peas and carrots and I would prefer Chinese vegetables like water chestnuts and bean sprouts. The Egg Drop soup and Egg Rolls were spot on. Best I have had in a very long time. Don't forget to ask about the Daily deals. A good value! We are pleased with this place and will be back! read more

It was rice and absolutely nothing else and the rice wasn't fully cooked. I ordered the chicken n vegetables with brown sauce, again no flavor and very bland. I have never had a bad meal here. This is our go to restaurant for Chinese food here in Walden. Food is always fresh, delicious, hot and consistent. Order is always correct and packaged with everything we need. Our favorites include - Kung Pao Chicken, Spring Rolls, Chicken fried rice, Orange Chicken, Wonton soup, Fresh baked banana bread (yes their banana bread) Lo Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken. Well, ever since Panda Village moved to this place it's gone downhill... Food used to be exactly how it was ordered and was always ready in a timely manner. Not anymore- this is the 3rd time I've have something missing/ order wasn't right. Tonight, I ordered the Asian box special with steamed rice, chicken, broccoli and carrots, and general tso sauce on the side not spicy. It also comes with an egg roll. What I received was fried rice, spicy saucy all over and no egg roll. Bummer. So I called back and let the lady know it was wrong. She said they could remake it if I wanted to come pick it up(another 45 minutes at least before I would get back home) or they could credit me the egg roll that was missing. The kid who delivered our food forced open my automatic gate instead of calling or honking like all the other delivery people that come to the house. No biggie except for the gate wouldn't close all the way after he did this. Because of being forced open there was a gap which was about a foot wide. I was not diggin' it from here though. It was cut up pieces of chicken in squares, which is different from every one it seems. The orange sauce was a BBQ sauce of some type with orange color and a very small hint of orange in it. However the rice was decent, its hard to mess this up when it is with every meal. My husband and I stopped in one night on our way home. I have tried this place once before when it first opened, but that was 3+ years ago. We ordered at the counter, one Sesame Chicken and one General Tso's Chicken with an order of cheese puffs, to go. The atmosphere is "quick." The restaurant is set-up for to go, but there is one table in the small lobby. We sat down, and only waited about 10-15 minutes for our order. The portions are huge. We could've shared one meal and still would have had left-overs! It was fresh, cooked to order. It was pretty delicious, as well. 2/11/17. We order from China Express because there are no other decent options. But they continue to piss me off. Ordered last night and got steamed chicken and veggies. Menu says it comes with ginger sauce on the side but there was none. Didn't bother calling them because it never helps. I asked when I ordered to be sure and put soy sauce and hot mustard in the bag, because so many times they haven't, but I didn't ask for extra. And I don't consider 6 packets extra anyway! So I pay more for that and don't get any ginger sauce at all. Totally typical of this establishment. GRRR! 4/12/16. I think I'm done with them.... I live very close and have ordered delivery from them for 3 years now but last night was the straw that broke the camels back. They used to be pretty good and the delivery is always fast but somewhere in the last year to year and a half things started going bad. When I called in my order last night I explained to the girl that the order last time was not right and that I was ordering the same thing again but wanted to be certain it came as ordered. It didn't and things went really wrong from there. I'll back up and say that as I worked my way through the menu when I first moved into my home I was disappointed that the dishes typically only had one, sometimes two, types of vegetables in them. Even when it was a dish that normally has several types. I asked during an order (this was nearly 3years ago) what to order if I like Szechuan Chicken and wanted a variety of veggies in it, which theirs doesn't have...and was told to get the Chicken with mixed vegetables and order it spicy. Szechuan style... I did that and for a while it worked out ok. I don't understand why I can't just order Szechuan chicken and get the veggies but she said no and to do it this way...so I did. Anyway, my order previous to last night came with the regular brown sauce instead of my spicy Szechuan request. I didn't bother to call and complain, it wasn't the first time they had messed up an order, and I just ate it. But I told her of the incident last night when I ordered the same thing again. And I got the same damn brown sauce! Even after going to all the trouble of explaining what I wanted! I was hot to say the least. Called to complain and was told that the cook says brown sauce and Szechuan sauce are the same thing. On what planet I asked them?!?! Anyway, after arguing about the chills, ginger, garlic, etc. that makes Szechuan they refused to credit my money but agreed to remake the dish. IF I RETURNED THE INCORRECT ORDER! Now, I didn't want it but still, what the hell?!?!? What did they do with it, resell it to someone else?!? I have NEVER heard of a restaurant wanting food returned and frankly it REALLY grossed me out! I don't appreciate the attitude they have me, the headache of incorrect orders, or the nasty factor so I won't order there again. I guess if you must eat their food I will tell you that the egg foo young is fantastic. As is the moo shu pork. Their fried rice sucks. The egg rolls used to be excellent but are nasty now. And when I first tried the restaurant the woman who took that order told me that the orange chicken and sesame chicken sauces both tasted like doctored up ketchup and that they got a lot of complaints so I have never ordered either. The chicken with eggplant used to be really good but isn't any more. And many of the dishes you would expect to have lots of veggies just simply don't. That's it in a nutshell. This place is just plain bad. It is my first time ordering from here and it will be my last. The rice is dry with no veggies or egg. The egg rolls are mushy in the middle with not a lot of filling.
