When i saw this online, i couldnt wait! Went ahead in a minute. They were located in Pembroke Pines 5mins away from home. The truck is sooo dominican, a big flag, dominican music, merengue, bachata, etc. I teletransported to DR in the moment! I was so excited, my husband ordered 2 empanadas one from lambi and other of jaiba (crab) they were pretty good nothing like fresh lambi but for being in the US, were good. 2 regulas chimis. Some people doesnt know about what chimi meat is, well let me explain is a sausage cutted alon in the middle then smash it seems like a burger meat, later to the grill, better if is in charcoal grill, in a bread like the cuban one, seazoned cabbage, special sauce, ketchup and mayo. For my taste i would let cook the meat 3 minutes more. But overall was great. You can see all dominicans arriving there, they have tables too. The food from here is always delicious. We get what we ordered every time and it's a lovely treat. Definitely large portions and made fresh.

So I saw this food truck a couple of times and have always wanted to try it. They are located on the side of the gas station. They have tables and chairs in front of their food truck in order for you to wait for your food or just stay and eat. I checked it out and since it decided to try the Steak quesadilla. I got my food and it was a pretty large quesadilla. I got my choices of sauces to pick from. They have the containers in the front and you can just take the mini containers and pack up whatever sauces you want. The quesadilla was good but a lil salty for my taste, the steak was seasoned and cooked well. I noticed it was the cheese and after speaking to some of my friends, they explained that's the traditional type of cheese they use. Overall, I would eat here again and if I get the quesadilla next time, I would ask for chimi sauce but I am looking forward to trying some of the other foods. read more

I have eaten here quite a few times. Another food truck that's Dominican. Stopped here to eat some dinner. Ordered the Dominican sausage (longaniza) with fried cheese and plantains (tostones) everything was great. The sausage gave me that "just like home" feeling with the taste and cooked perfectly and the fried cheese just yummy. The tostones was good as well. My only complaint is that they could have been generous and just given me a few pieces of cheese instead of having to charge me for a whole half a pound. The food (1/2 lb of Dominican sausage, 1/2 lb of fried cheese, tostones and passion fruit juice (chinola)) all came to over 20 dollars which made it a little pricey IMHO. Yaroa wasn't yaroa, that hotdog smelled weird and was very small plus it's very over priced; I ended up paying 27 for 3 things that all were bad including the chinola. Sad place to go to. read more

This review is strictly based off the pastelito. Wow I am beyond disappointed. Being from NY (wash heights) pastelitos (empanadas) whatever I know what a good pastelito is and this was not that. It's almost as bad as the Nicaraguan pastelitos and that's sad. Never have I had a "Dominican pastelito de carne" that was greasy, oily & full of onions. Most I've seen, the usual-- raisin/egg.. it was dripping all over the plate. So gross. No one in my house liked them. They went straight to the garbage & for 2.50 a piece, that hurt my soul. Let's talk about the chimi's, clearly remember at the beginning the chimi were the BEST/UNIQUE in town, meet was A+, noticed from some time to present the quality of the meet you using is not longer the same, I heard few friend also complaining about the quality of the food has been going down(at least at the 57th St. location. Keeping the quality of the food you serve will keep the customers you have. Please don't change that, eventually you will start seeing business drooping. You know I go there with my entire crew and unfortunately the last 3 times myself and some of my kids end with stomach problem from the food. The food is not bad in quality, and from what i've seen so far, they make it pretty quick. BUT, "el chimi" sandwhich should not be priced at $12 when literally it's just steak, lettuce, cheese, and sauces on a bun, with no sides at all. I also tried their chilly cheese fries and they were ok, the portion was good and the price was a lot more reasonable at $4 or so, but i felt like the meat needed more salt. Chimi El Tigere is the newest Dominican street food spot in Kendall and it is getting a good start. Chimichurri isn't the herb dressing used all over South America. It's a uniquely Dominican Style sandwich/burger. Simple to make with humble ingredients and that my fine reader is the "rub". A Chimichurri or Chimi for the uninitiated is a burger like sandwich with seasoned meat, shredded cabbage, tomatoes and pink sauce. Simple, but ridiculously hard get right. Growing up in the Northeast, eating them, and having the original in the Dominican Republic I know what it should taste like. Hell, my Chimi recipe is the conglomeration of countless sources and years of practice. Chimi el Tigere gets it right. The bread is as close to the original as you can find this far into Cuban Miami. The Meat patty has a good flavor and a spice component that is reminiscent of the island. When I say spice I don't mean spicy I mean flavorful and seasoned. They do finely shredded cabbage with some carrot for crunch which is not a bad addition. The tomato is sliced evenly although I may not like it that thick. Then copious amounts of pink sauce, the secret ingredient more mysterious than a tanned Asian model there are millions of variations and few people give out the exact proportions or ingredients. The sandwiches are then hot pressed and wrapped in foil as traditional as it gets. Now that you have been educated on what it is here's what I would change at the Chimi El Tiguere. They should sauce the cabbage before adding the tomato and they should also add some ketchup and mayo to create those flavor layers. The truck offers other traditional Dominican street food besides the famous Chimi.The Completa platter offers 3 kinds of fried pork fried cheese and plantains. The first time I went the value was lacking the last time I went they went HAM on it. For $15 it's a hell of a deal. They also have empanadas and other Dominican specialties. When its late and you're craving that Latin food with soul and the calories to fight that on coming hang over head over to Chimi el tigere have a Chimi and red soda and wonder why you haven't had more Dominican food in your life. read more

Coming from Washington Heights in NYC, I am used to eating GOOD chimis. Was excited to see this truck come into Miramar so I strolled myself over to pick up some Chimis... Honestly, they shouldn't even call it Chimis... It tasted like cheap frozen meat with a bad taste. Guess What... I had this food over a month ago and it was so good when I saw it on Yelp, I had to dig into my camera roll, find a photo and post a review. They were in Pembroke Pines off of Red Road when I found them at a gas station. As previous reviews mentioned, they are hard to miss with their huge Dominican flag and blaring music. It looks like a party outside the food truck. But the real party starts when you take a bite of the food. I got the tostones chimi churri sandwich and it was soooooooooooo good! Well to start the meat on all chimis were undercooked. Not slightly but completely....quite upsetting when you wait 30 minutes. However, that is expected because we went to their food truck located in Wynwood. The wait time was not a factor in the rating. Aside from being undercooked their cheese empanadas were lacking cheese. It was like eating a plain empanada with no filling. The juice was obviously boxed juice and was disgusting. I have no complaints on the service except I noticed they automatically charge you a tip. Why ? I'm not sure but check your receipt and your change because an 18% tip is charged. I guess I'm giving two stars because the bread was soft. Never going back though. I don't recommend it. read more

I had a horrible experience at this location. I waited to be serviced for 30 minutes without being acknowledged while other people were being serviced. The employee that was working there at the time did not even acknowledge us, I understand you are busy but at least let people know you will be right there with them. He was not even Dominican, yet this is supposed to be authentic Dominican food. We ordered a chimi and instead we reached a burger: if we wanted a burger we would have gone to Burger King!!!!!! And yet I got charged 10 dollars for a burger I could have made myself at home . I would never go to this pace again or refer my family and friends. The negative reviews here are a perfect example of "each head is its own world". I am Dominican. I had Chimis in NY and DR. These chimis are up to par with the best in NY and DR. The truck is clean, the staff in friendly, and the atmosphere is festive. They even have a cell phone app with the menu and daily updates of the location of the trucks....I think they have two trucks working in tandem since they always list two locations on the same night in their FB page and the app. Besides Chimis, they have some great Dominican grub....the carnitas, the kipes, tostones and empanadas are all delicious. Worst chimi ever !!! Looked like cooked ham never again will I return to that food truck waste of money & time

Here goes from the arrival. I get there and there appears to be two tables with people eating and a couple people waiting in line. I get to the truck and find one table is the owner and perhaps some friends just talking. The other table is actual customers eating. So now being the owner you should see this and either get up or get working on more seats. Well he gets one more table and sets up the two chairs that were previously folded up against the truck. A little better I guess. Onto the food. The tostones have the same texture, look and taste of frozen supermarket ones. I ordered the Chimi and Chimi Tigre. The bread was fine, the slaw and dressing was decent. The burger was the problem. If you look at their website and see that beautiful, grilled, thick and juicy patty THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU GET! This was a preformed, thin, frozen, low quality patty. The kinda low quality that you get little pieces of cartilage inside of it, nasty. The Tigre came with a piece of fried cheese on it that was pretty good. Also ordered the Pollo Frito with french fries. This was really good. Cooked beautifully, seasoned just right and served with basic french fries, but no salt. Last the Yanikeke which needed some salt but was ok. The guys actually doing the cooking were friendly and the truck was clean. I just wouldn't recommend the signature plate, which is kinda sad. I might go back but just to try the Chimi Pollo, which blends the best of what I've had. As for the owner and the people occupying the table, by the time I finished eating in my car there were about 8 people in line and he was still there with the same group, no drinks or food on the table, oh well. I gave it 2 stars cause I MIGHT go back for the Pollo Frito and 3 stars for me means I would definitely eat there again which I just can't say is for sure. 2 1/2 would have been better but we don't get that choice. Side note: I've been to the DR a lot and am married to a Dominican so I can make realistic comparison to the original. read more

The owner is an absolutely lovely man and I enjoy this food truck at least twice a week. Their chimis are good, but my favorite is the fritura. Every time I've had it, it's been fabulous. The longaniza and steak is my favorite, but the pork and fried cheese is great too. I always grab a few quipes and seafood empanadas too. Only thing I wish they would change is the consistency with the lime wedge. The lime takes this over the top, and sometimes they don't include it, sometimes they include 4. Was So Excited To Try The Yaroa With The Chicken But To My Surprise There Were No Platanos Maduros Like It Said There Would Be On The Menu. It Was Too Late When I Noticed At Home Since We Traveled 30 Minutes To Try Their Food. My Husband Got The Fritura With The Carne frita and Longaniza and the queso frito. The queso frito was really really good and the longaniza had a really great taste and flavor the meat had an amazing flavor but it was a bit dry and hard, the lime wedge sort of soaked it a bit but still pretty dry. El Tigre is a late night food truck that comes to Miramar/Pembroke pines area. The first time I tried a Chimi from them, it was good. Last night not so much. The bread is fantastic! The meat is small, unidentifiable and tasteless. My sandwich was completely drenched in sauce. The sauce is nice but holy overkill! Bought shrimp and crab empanadas that were forgotten in the fryer and sold to me anyways. (If they were not done properly, they should not have been sold to me in the first place.)They were overlooked and absolutely dripping with oil when I got them home. Menu says $2.00 they were $3.00. I am the biggest fan of food trucks and this is by far the worse food truck I've been to and I've eaten at many. The menu and advertising looks promising but a real taste at the food proves it otherwise. First of all, they automatically charge you a 3% fee for your transaction with a card as a service fee. This is a steal because this is a food truck not a restaurant. But anyways, the actual food is the worst. I ordered an order of Frituras which was sausage, fried cheese and tostones. Everything on that plate was full of grease. Ordering a plate of frituras, I obviously expect everything to be fried, but this was dipped in pure grease. The tostones whenever you bit into it would drip grease and they were cold and soft, as if they've been laying for hours fried. The fried cheese was decent but the sausage was beyond salty and once again full of grease. Also, el chimi de churrasco which is a churrasco burger comes with a fried egg. I went the other night because I'm pregnant and I was craving a Yaroa & a Quipe, it was so nasty the quipe didn't taste like anything & the yaroa was a disaster, it tasted horrible.
