Chimera has been one of the first tattoo studios on The Blvd for as long as I can remember, and it's success makes absolute sense. Rudy (the owner and artist) is so welcoming, professional, friendly and beyond talented! I went in at first to check out the studio after reading the wonderful ratings on yelp from other reviewers. My visit confirmed what I read. The studio is clean, very cool and customized decor. It's not like most tattoo studios at all, and it has it's own style. The equipment Rudy uses is clean and updated tools. The bed/chair you sit on is comfortable and adjustable which definitely is an overseen important factor when getting tatted (especially for long period of time). Rudy is a family guy and has a very calm energy to him, which is important to me as I wouldn't want someone with bad energy touching me while tattooing. His wife is just as dope as a FNP and also does body contouring and skin tightening at the studio too which was a perfect surprise as my girlfirend who came in during my tattooing was in search for. The combo of a highly skilled and friendly tattoo artist-business owner with a nurse practitioner in the mix made me feel super safe and taken care of. He even asked what kind of music or movie do I want playing while getting tatted which was a nice offer for sure. (I chose Nightmare Before Christmas). I was sooooo excited seeing my tatt that he did, and the after care with the ink sack he put on top of the fresh ink on my back was the first I've seen and experienced. Doc Ink was introduced to me by a co-worker as a 3-D tattoo artist for his work with tattooing nipples for reconstructed breast. I expressed my concerns regarding a tattoo cover up of a tribal band (yeah, the 90's). Took a quick look and he said he'd easily cover it up. Made the appointment and made the trip from South Pasadena to Lancaster. I walked in to shop which was beyond my initial expectation, super clean shop and the feng shui just flows. Rudy and his staff are super friendly, skilled and make you feel like you are home. Ryan, Rudy's assistant made sure I witnessed him opening every single item they were to use on me which made me feel at ease. Before the tattooing started Rudy made suggestions on how to improve the tattoo in the sense of shading, placement and added a bit of his flair to the tattoo. Not only did he wanted me to be absolutely satisfied but he wanted to be satisfied with his work, just as any perfectionist would. Great service but disappointing results. My lady got a simple belly button piercing and the lady did a horrible job. It came out crooked and there is no refunds and she won't answer phone calls or text to get it repierced after waiting 6-8 weeks. Won't recommend to anyone for body art.
