This has been a little Indian restaurant that's caught my attention for quite some time now. Just been a matter of getting to try their cuisine. I found a good reason when my top favourite Indian restaurant appeared to have closed recently ... Absolutely devastated ... But after my evening spent at Chillies and trying quite a few different dishes I'm very well impressed. The interior of the place is quite simple, sharp and clean looking with tiles all through. There is a very charming feature wall on the west side of the store that just lit up my eyes. There is a huge LCD above the counter bar area which was in perfect view from the dining room, especially from where I was sitting. I also noticed there was a full espresso coffee machine, which is something I don't usually find in Indian restaurants. I didn't get a great look at the wine list but looking behind the bar they appear to show a very wide variety of different reds and whites. My group ordered a few different entrees- vegetable samosas, curry puffs, and onion baijis (not sure about spelling) ... And they were all amazing. The curry puffs were just like mini pasties but with lighter and fluffier pasty. Delicious. The onion baijis were also a real treat. Similar to onion rings but more of a batter type of crust. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala which came out in a main size pasta bowl with a few vegetables mixed through with it. It wasn't quite what I expected but it was still perfection. The flavours were really rich and chicken tender, and with the additional vegetable throughout made it more of a wow factor. We also shared around a Rogan Josh and Beef Madras. Both were very flavoursome ... I could say more-so tastier compared to our previous regular Indian restaurant ... With delicious tender melt-in-your-mouth chunks of meat. I couldn't get enough of these amazing dishes. If you're looking for a new Indian food joint to try around the east side of Adelaide I certainly wouldn't go past this little gem. The only negativity I could say is that the staff's customer service seemed a bit ordinary. Chillies is one of my favourite local take away options - admittedly a little less so these days - early on when they first opened the menu featured a combination of Indian AND Thai, and I loved their Thai dishes too, especially the Tom Kha Gai, lots of coconut and just the right spices. Sadly that's gone, but since moving to an all Indian offering, they've expanded so I guess it was the right decision to make. I've found them to be pretty steadily busy with a stream of take away customers coming in to pick up phone orders, or to order and wait. My preference is to order ahead whenever I can otherwise you can wait a while for your meal to be prepared. Servings are generous, and they do a great garlic naan... Perfect for soaking up the luscious, creamy sauce from a butter chicken or korma. Plenty of variety on the menu, especially with the seasonal specials, which often extend to dishes you don't find in many other restaurants. Parking in the centres car park does get a little hectic at the peak pick up time, with a busy pizza bar right in the vicinity too. This is one of the later opening options in the area, too, often still going at 11pm - great if you're running home late and need something easy. read more

Home delivery last Saturday night. Rang them about 6:30pm and was told 1hr wait for delivery, which seemed a while for 2km away, but went ahead and ordered Beef Madras and Lamb Rogan Josh plus steamed rice. Delivery actually arrived within half an hour! Food was awesome, and very generous serves, each under $20. I would've preferred the rice a little softer/moister, but it was probably normal for Indian style. Delivery is $5 (minimum order $30) Looking forward to ordering from Chillies again :) Probably closer to 4.5 stars! read more

This place rocks! I'm extra fussy when it comes to Indian. Love a good slow cooked curry with beautiful tender meat that melts in your mouth...and Chillies delivers. A creature of habit I always get the Lamb Rogan Josh with a side of samosas, garlic naan, cheese naan and some raita just to top it off. I've also tried the butter chicken, onion bhaji and the Gulab Jamun for dessert. All yummy! read more

The only reason for being "one star short" of a top-rating is the atmosphere at this restaurant: - The decoration could be a bit more cosy and less like an office canteen. - The acoustics don't really allow for privacy: If there are more than 4 people in the room, you get the impression of being in a hall along with hundreds of people; it's very noisy! - And during the warm seasons, you can't really sit outside. Chillies is yet another example that good and cheap Indian restaurants still exist. In this case, I have to admit that it's sometimes a bit hard to find them. Located in the Eastern suburbs, in an area that is neither touristy nor very pretty, I stumbled across this place by accident. It was late, I was hungry, and on my way back home I saw their sign on a crossroads and thought, why not give it a go. I must say that Chillies was way above what I expected. I got butter chicken, Basmati rice and garlic naan, which was ready for take away in a bit more than 10 minutes. Tasty and delicious! And for $20 definitely worth it! Since then, I've returned probably about 5 times and it was always as good as the first time. If you don't want take away, you have the option of eating there. The inside is rather empty and a bit sterile for my liking, but for the prices it's fair enough. They've got a few tables outside too and service is great - quick and very friendly. Have a look at their specials on the board inside and try the coconut chicken or the mango prawns. The wine prices are also very reasonable and you can get a bottle for as little as $20. Note that when it says they're open till late, they usually close at around 11pm. read more

Remember, it's the little tucked away restaurants that are often the best. Chillies is definitely one of them! Chillies is in the Eastern suburbs of Adelaide, about a 10-15 minute drive from the city. It's a good idea to book ahead just in case, but you can often just walk in and get a table. The interior of the place is very beautiful and authentic Indian style. Lavish wallpaper and paintings line the walls and the atmosphere is very friendly and serene. Now onto the most important thing - the food! It is the best Indian I have ever had. I always have the mango chicken because I am so in love with the flavor. It is served is a cute pot and you will need to order rice on the side. You also get a complimentary papadum with a mint sauce for dipping, which is to die for. The staff is incredibly friendly and adorable, making the experience even more enjoyable. Take-away is also available and there are a couple of chairs inside where you can sit and wait with a magazine, because depending on how busy they are you may have to wait a little while. Best ring up ahead and place your order! I highly recommend this place, every dish I see looks amazing, the service is fantastic and the experience is very enjoyable. read more

This place used to to Thai and Indian, now it just does Indian. It's a good place for Indian food and the price point is fine, but I do miss that Thai menu... It is a small place that you could easily drive past, but it's worth stopping. read more

I love Indian food and been eating at different famous restaurant for quite sometime now. One time I thought i'd give this restaurant a try. I ordered vegetable tikka masala and fried onion, it was the most disgusting indian meal I've ever had where i had to put in the bin. Also the onion was too greasy. Have used Chillies a number of times over the last few years, but the service and quality is going downhill. We used to love their naans, but they are not so good now. Their service is very slow for take away and after giving a time, they have kept us waiting for up to 25 minutes. Time to move on.... read more
