I loathe indian food - so much so that at other events I've just eaten rice and drank the tea. (Why do people invite me to indian food when I hate it so!). My loathing stems from a memorable food poisoning incident, of course. But my sisters' enthusiastic ravings encouraged me to order something, even if just for appearance sake. I am so glad I did. Their butter chicken single handedly taught me the value of not tarring all versions of a cuisine with one brush (maybe I'm being a bit hyperbolic, but it was pretty amazing). The best thing wasn't the food though - it was the service. The attendants dealt with our frustrating requests and changes of mind and the 3 vegetarians and one vegan and our elderly grandparents, who hate wearing their hearing aids because they make everything too loud! And then, you know what? They gave the whole table a complimentary dessert. We were so impressed. (I think they received the biggest tip our family has ever given any restaurant staff.) What a wonderful business.

Not having been opened that long we decided to give this relatively new restaurant a go. I had quite possibly the best saag paneer I've ever had! My partner had the chicken jalfrezi which was also superb with just the right amount of spice. We also had the garlic naan and a fresh Indian style salad as accompaniments I strongly recommend the salad, delicious! To finish we shared a mango Kulfi, this too was of a high standard. To anyone who enjoys Indian food I would strongly recommend you check this out and support this restaurant as I for one want to make sure it stays around. Located in Magill, this little shop is easily missed with the poor lighting and signage on a dark and rainy evening. The interior is rather tacky with inconsistent lighting. The wallpaper is peeling off. The feature wall depicts a famous setting in India. Despite all that, we made our selections and food came out in a timely manner. There was only one floor staff for the entire evening. The restaurant was half full. She did a great job considering. We had the mixed platter which consisted of salt and pepper squid, cauliflower, chicken tikka and onion bahji. It was very average. Two pieces of squid is a joke. The chicken was cold, but well marinated. The onion was terrible. Old oil turns me off instantly. The cauliflower wasn't appealing either, so I left it. Mains was significantly better. We shared the butter chicken, sachinomania (barramundi curry), aloo gobi, naan and rice. Everything was excellent. The barramundi was perfectly done and local. The chicken was tasty and tender. The vegetable dish was also lovely. Naan was pretty good and rice fluffy. However, the dessert was pretty horrible. We had the kulfi. It looks better than it tasted. The ice cream was all icy. It has the same taste as ice cream that has been left in the freezer too long and the air gets in and ruins the whole tub. Service was fine for what it was. I am torn on whether I want to reccomend this place or not. It seems like a hit and miss joint. It does certain things well and others badly. I don't think I would go back unfortunately, but I will remember the positive experience.

I found a good reason when my top favourite Indian restaurant appeared to have closed recently ... Absolutely devastated ... But after my evening spent at Chillies and trying quite a few different dishes I'm very well impressed. The interior of the place is quite simple, sharp and clean looking with tiles all through. There is a very charming feature wall on the west side of the store that just lit up my eyes. There is a huge LCD above the counter bar area which was in perfect view from the dining room, especially from where I was sitting. I also noticed there was a full espresso coffee machine, which is something I don't usually find in Indian restaurants. I didn't get a great look at the wine list but looking behind the bar they appear to show a very wide variety of different reds and whites. My group ordered a few different entrees- vegetable samosas, curry puffs, and onion baijis (not sure about spelling) ... And they were all amazing. The curry puffs were just like mini pasties but with lighter and fluffier pasty. Delicious. The onion baijis were also a real treat. Similar to onion rings but more of a batter type of crust. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala which came out in a main size pasta bowl with a few vegetables mixed through with it. It wasn't quite what I expected but it was still perfection. The flavours were really rich and chicken tender, and with the additional vegetable throughout made it more of a wow factor. We also shared around a Rogan Josh and Beef Madras. Both were very flavoursome ... I could say more-so tastier compared to our previous regular Indian restaurant ... With delicious tender melt-in-your-mouth chunks of meat. I couldn't get enough of these amazing dishes. If you're looking for a new Indian food joint to try around the east side of Adelaide I certainly wouldn't go past this little gem. The only negativity I could say is that the staff's customer service seemed a bit ordinary. The waitresses were all teenage girls and I would assume they're growing and developing their Hospitality skills.

Sadly that's gone, but since moving to an all Indian offering, they've expanded so I guess it was the right decision to make. I've found them to be pretty steadily busy with a stream of take away customers coming in to pick up phone orders, or to order and wait. My preference is to order ahead whenever I can otherwise you can wait a while for your meal to be prepared. Servings are generous, and they do a great garlic naan... Perfect for soaking up the luscious, creamy sauce from a butter chicken or korma. Plenty of variety on the menu, especially with the seasonal specials, which often extend to dishes you don't find in many other restaurants. Parking in the centres car park does get a little hectic at the peak pick up time, with a busy pizza bar right in the vicinity too. This is one of the later opening options in the area, too, often still going at 11pm - great if you're running home late and need something easy.

I have always enjoyed Taste of Nepal but unfortunately had a very bad experience there the other…read morenight. I went to dinner there with a friend and we were sharing some cheese roti. There were two pieces of glass in the roti. I took one from my mouth. The owner / manager saw this came over and very quickly took the bread and the glass from the table. He quickly returned with new roti. No apology and with the explanation of it had nothing to do with the restaurant, and it must have been the cheese. I found this to be very unusual but we continued with our meal. Our bill arrived at the end and we were charged full price. Just over $100. I explained to him that I was very disappointed, particularly in the lack of apology within his response. The very little I would have expected was complimentary roti bread but nothing. Very disappointed and won't be going back.

If you're a big curry fan, then you'll want to give this place a visit. There's not much I need to say about the food here - it speaks for itself. The lamb roganjosh is exquisite, and the beef vindaloo has a real kick - as Stuart has mentioned, over-confidence will only lead to some very spicy tears. Though I've only ever ordered take-away, the interior of the restaurant itself (not the take-away service counter) is beautifully decorated, and is an intimate setting for a dine-in experience. The prices are reasonable, though the idea of paying $12 to $14 per curry that's served from a warmer container doesn't quite sit well with me. Admittedly I'm being a little picky here - curry takes hours, even days, to prepare. So expecting a curry to be made on the spot is an unreasonable request. Perhaps if the warmers weren't in view, and I was instead ignorant to the preparation, my mind would be at ease. If you haven't already tried this place, I strongly recommend you start organising your next curry night - and make sure these guys are supplying!

The serving is huge value for the price, plenty of meat, good and filling. Friday lunch time there can be a bit of a line up as people do workplace lunches together. As with most Indian food, service is prompt and efficient - we dined here a few times before learning about the Sunday lunch "all you can eat' banquets once a month - if you like Indian food, this is an absolute no brainer, they just keep bringing food out. The Spice Kitchen has been around for a long, long time - used to be just down the road in a much smaller shop. If you enjoy the flavours, they also make kits that you can use to make the same dishes at home, with all the spices and ingredients you need - just add meat and some love, it's not like a cook in sauce, you still need to prepare the spices appropriately.

Traditionally styled tapesptries adorn the walls and small porcelain elephants, bronze vases and other trinkets are carefully placed throughout the restaurant. It does not have the slick and modern feel, all to common in the bulk of the redeveloped restaurants around town, and does not take too much traffic but I really like that about the place and it makes for an intimate dining experience. The menu is primarily traditional Indian curries. There is a large vegetarian selection which I always feel makes for autheticity in an Indian restaurant. There is also a smaller selection of lamb, chicken beef anseafood curries. The staff is very friendly and the food is quite good, although perhaps not outstanding. It is however, well woth visiting for a dining experience which is a little bit different.
