My daughters ice cream mustache (:
Alexus B.

This ice cream shop is amazing, they have a variety of different flavors to choose from. Sadly I didn't get any pictures of our ice cream, we enjoyed it(: would recommend to anyone, me and the family will be back soon! Friendly staff!

Decent ice cream spot on the main drag in Salida. Nice selection of flavors and toppings. We had strawberry, chocolate chip mint and cookies and cream. Everything was good but just can't say great. Still give it a try.

We came to Chill Salida 10 minutes before they closed and were able to get a couple of cones. I love that they do half scoops because I love to get 2 flavors but can't finish 2 whole scoops. I got their malted mazeltoff and oatmeal cookie ice creams. Both were so delicious!

Delicious ice cream that's especially great after a day in the river. The staff is friendly and will give you samples. Prices are very reasonable. Lots of flavor options from your standard choices like cookies n cream, chocolate, salted pb cup (that's what I had!) to some less common ones like yellow cake and purple mountains majesty.

Colorado does ice cream well and this place did not disappoint. Dense creamy and perfect. Lots of flavors to choose from. Not just generic standards. Service friendly. Covered outdoor seating. Dude playing music. It was a cool happening spot !!

My family instantly fell in love with Chill. First, the ice cream is the creamiest I've had in a while. I tried the salted peanut butter cup ... oh good grief. I could feel my body hugging that cream as it went down. Second, I mentioned celiac and expected to have to go through the whole rigamarole. Instead, the person behind the counter instantly said she could tell us which ones were gluten free and she would go get a fresh carton from the back. We didn't even have to ask or explain! My celiac son said he wanted a T-shirt -- which smelled like the shop for the next two days as he wore it around on our vacay. We had fun just stopping and smelling his delicious shirt.

Exciting to see this spot pop up in Salida! They serve Josh and Johns ice cream from Colorado Springs! Being from COS, my husband and I were overjoyed to see our favorite flavor, oatmeal cookie. This is a great addition to the Salida food scene!

Moose on the Loose

We were quickly served and tried a scoop of Moose on the Loose in a waffle cone and both of us enjoyed it. It really was delicious! It was raining so we sat outside under the awning by the fire pit. It was a great finish to our evening.

We visited Chill on a Saturday night and it was hopping, but totally worth the wait and it gave us time to look over all the flavors. People were doing a good job distancing and they had complimentary masks to go inside in case you didn't have one. So many interesting looking flavors but we ordered purple mountain majesty, moose on the loose, salted peanut butter cup and rocky mountain road. Purple mountain majesty was a taro flavored icecream with chocolate raspberry truffles throughout. Delicious. They also have shakes that a lot of people seemed to be getting. I don't think you can go wrong with any order here! They didnt have inside seating with COVID but did have plenty of patio seating or you can go around the corner and eat by the Arkansas or at Riverside park!

We all know it's hard to get ice cream wrong. BUT, that doesnt mean we shouldnt let people know when they do it right! Chill is a very cute neighborhood joint that offers tons of fresh made flavors. The counter is manned by what seems to be local high schoolers or college kids who are very kind and accommodating. They also were nice enough to give my pup some whipped cream as a treat. Got their version of moose tracks and was not disappointed.

The staff are friendly and welcoming and are knowledgeable about the coffee they sell. We tried the Iced Nitro coffee, Ice flash coffee, Golden Milk and Santo Palo latte. All the drinks were excellent. We especially liked the Nitro and Flash brewed coffee. The profile was rich, full body and balanced; very refreshing and drinkable. The Nitro was, of course, a bolder, richer flavor of the two. They were some of the best iced coffees I've tasted. The shop offers many varieties of whole bean, single origin and blended coffees from Corvus Rosters; which they will gladly grind for you. They also have lots of specialty food, body products, and gift items for sale along with a vinyl record section. For excellent coffee, friendly service and a nice shop to browse while waiting for your drinks, Howl Mercantile is awesome. They also have a few tables indoors and outside.

Their hours are also nice - we were looking for coffee after skiing all day and was nice they were still open at 4PM to grab a coffee. The latte as always was excellent and my friend liked her cappuccino as well!

The variety of flavors available was impressive, and everyone found something they enjoyed! The adorable 50's car and vintage outfits added a charming touch that made our special day even more memorable. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the ice cream and the friendly service; they loved snapping photos with the truck, which became a delightful backdrop for many of our wedding pictures. A particularly touching moment was when Cindy graciously set up a picture of my husband's late grandparents next to the truck. His grandparents adored ice cream, and knowing that they left him money for dessert at his wedding made having Blue Truck Ice Cream there even more special. Overall, the kindness and dedication of the Blue Truck Ice Cream team truly made our dessert a sweet ending to an unforgettable day. We wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking to add a unique and heartfelt touch to their event!

After a delectable beer tasting/tour at Elevation Brewery we stopped here for a quick snack. I had…read morepassed it during my previous trip to Salida and was really excited to stop, not to mention I adore the business name. I had the hot fudge sundae while Mom an Dad enjoyed cones of soft serve. The hot fudge was really delicious and I was happy for the snack. Also, soft serve ice cream isn't always easy to find so I was super happy. The menu featured a wide variety of items (from ice-cream to dim sum - seriously). It's a crowd pleaser for sure! I'll definitely be stopping back in when I am back in Salida.

On a road trip from Taos New Mexico to Morrison Colorado via Garden of the Gods…read more.... We stumbled into "I Scream and Stuff". Well, and stuff means dim sum, pot stickers, Chinese meals, hamburgers, great shakes all marketed as "Not Greasy, Good", "healthy" and "East/West". The menu was not what we were expecting at all. Ice cream. Yep. Burgers and Shakes. Sure. We were pretty skeptical that they could also pull off so many Chinese menu items....I mean, up in the mountains, in a small roadside café, named Ice Scream and stuff.. No way. The food was as advertised...no grease. We had a very lean Cheeseburger. On a whole wheat bun. With a thick and delicious shake. We decided to skip the sides...as we just wanted a snack. We were shocked when the owner came out to see us at our table explaining to us we had been overcharged because we skipped the sides....and produced cash on the spot to make us whole. The food we had was well prepared and tasted great. Maybe a bit healthy for us as a little grease isn't all that bad. The food we saw delivered to others all looked great as well (especially the Chinese food!) In addition the bathroom was super nice and clean. The service was pleasant and friendly. The place was completely full...so clearly they do a great amount of business. We enjoyed the sun and the views outside at the picnic tables, had a good time talking to the motorcycle riders (one guy from Texas on his way back from Salt Lake city.....his short ride of the summer). Everyone seemed to be enjoying this place and like us, chatting up the tourist. We left thinking...wow, that place is legit !
