I've been coming here consistently for about 4 months, and they do a great job! I always get a gel x with Luna- she is fantastic!! She takes her time making sure my nails are prepped perfectly, and my nail health has taken a 180 for the better. I never have to wait very long, and I'm always happy with the final result. The staff is so sweet and encouraging as well! Sometimes I get pedicures too, with any staff member available. I've had great experiences with the basic gel pedicure. One time I got a regular polish pedicure at it chipped pretty quick, but I think it was more my fault I recommend this place to everyone!! They are a little pricey, but I'd rather pay an extra $10/15 for their premium work than go to a cheaper spot. Third time I got a crappy manicure. I go there because my daughter does Gel x and they do that fine and I decide to do my regular mani/pedi while waiting for her and always regret it. I always ask for a shine buff for my hands and come home and have to buff them myself cuz they're not smooth in the edges. And my ties have not been cleaned. See pic. Does that look like a new pedi? Every artist at this salon is incredibly talented, but I had the best experience today with Annie. I requested a gel x with chrome and design and she knocked it out of the park. She not only did an excellent job, she was patient and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. I've never done a detailed nail design before and wanted to do something special for my birthday - Annie was thorough and made sure we picked the right shades and even went as far as to show me different ways to achieve the look I wanted. She even managed to make the Scorpio constellation on my thumbs. She's a real one. Top notch service and care. Unfortunately I've given this place so many chances, & they disappoint every time. Although the nail tech gets the job done, I've had to wait 30-40 minutes after my SCHEDULED appointment the last 4 times I've gotten a fill here. The way the front desk handles this is extremely unprofessional - instead of calling to let you know how late they are running or at least letting you know once you get there so you can plan accordingly, they continuously move you around & give you things to do to make it feel like your appointment is coming up any minute. So you sit there for 20 minutes & then you sit in your seat awaiting your nail tech & choosing your color for another 20. The 5th time I thought "maybe if I get the first appointment of the day, I won't have to wait because they won't be running late." When I got there at my appointment time, the lights of the salon weren't even on yet, & my nail tech was nowhere to be found. I waited 10 minutes, only for the front desk to let me know that my nail tech is running late & will "be here in 20." Ive given this place the benefit of the doubt, thinking that maybe they run late all the time because of their customers...but it's just how they choose to operate. Im not one to leave negative reviews or reviews at all, but this place really stands out in its consistent lack of time management & disrespect to the time of paying (& returning) customers. And when I first called I was told pricing was 50-60$ for gel mani&pedi, it wasn't until AFTER I was done with my sets that I was informed French tip was 15$ ADDITIONAL on hands & 15 more for feet too... and when I tried to mention how the staff didn't communicate with me the MANAGER brushed me off and didn't even apologize or offer anything like I'm so confused. Came in for a simple gel removal and was met with the upmost attitude. Not sure if this is a one off because the young lady was having a bad day but the energy was not great. She attempted to yank the gelX off and when I let her know it hurt, I was met with argument. I had to recommend a tool (which is odd because they are the experts). And to make matters worse they filed my nails with the machine to the point of extreme heat. All in all. I went here two weeks ago, and it was okay, but I was ultimately disappointed about an hour after I left the salon. The Good: I like that I can schedule an appointment on the website, and the general vibe of the salon is peaceful and posh. I scheduled a full set and a gel pedicure, and two people worked on me simultaneously, so I finished sooner than planned, and that was a pleasant surprise. Both the manicurist and pedicurist were kind, and the manager was kind as well. Checking in was quick and easy, and payment was smooth. The manicurist took her time removing my old set of acrylics by filing and soaking them in acetone instead of just popping them off, as other salons have gotten in the habit of doing. I appreciated that as my nails are thin enough as it is from past damage. Needs improvement: Scheduling for one service is easy, but if you can't add multiple services in one session. You have to schedule numerous services. You can add a note, but it's not as efficient. The manicurist really, REALLY wanted me to get GelX instead of an acrylic full set. I know GelX is good (I know how to do it myself), but she was too pushy for my taste. I sternly told her I did not want GelX and only wanted acrylic as scheduled. Usually, when manicurists push for GelX, it's a tell-tale sign that they aren't as good at filing and creating a clean and consistent shape. Unfortunately, that was the case. I did have to reshape the acrylics when I got home. The Bad: My polish began chipping off when I got home an hour later. I took off the rest of the polish by chipping away at it. It could have been avoided if the manicurist hadn't filed underneath my nails after applying the last coat of top gel polish. I have my own set of gel polish, so I was able to redo the color, but I paid too much to have to do my nails again so soon. Overall: The area is lovely, and the people are good. It just wasn't a great first run. If I'm ever in the area and need my nails done, I'll consider Chill Nails again. read more
