Me enjoying dinner elsewhere. (Hickory Tavern, they actually have us service)

I thought this would be a very fitting photo since the lack of service made me go to a much better restaurant down the street, Hickory Tavern. Let me get started on the service. I won't entirely place the blame on the servers mainly because I cannot possibly fathom that the service was so bad that it would be their fault. Maybe the carbon monoxide detectors in the establishment ran out of batteries, and there was a complete cut off of oxygen. Perhaps an infestation of brain worms has infested the water supply of the town. I am not entirely sure, but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was outside factors leading to the service being as existent as my happiness at this local Chilis. I had a Diet Coke and my girlfriend had a water with lemon, don't worry we made sure to pay on the kiosk because there was no possible way. Anybody would've asked us for the check anyway. I'm pretty sure if we decided to just walk out nobody would've noticed Unless someone called the Coast Guard to come look for us. Good thing no search parties got involved because we managed to pay and leave a one cent tip, which I think was extremely generous. The environment was great and I'm sure the food was great because everyone around us look to be having a good time. Chips and salsa was coming out fast for everyone except for us for 10 minutes. I've never had a bad experience at Chili's, so I'll make sure to go back, just never to this location until the day I stop breathing.

Empty bar

Must of been shift change but waited while bar was empty and no one there (as seen in photo) but people sat behind me came in after me ordered and got there food which was wrong and had to be fixed, before I ordered she seemed busy with something else. Decided to go somewhere else....

Classic Nachos

So where do I begin, First when we got there, we waited about 5 minutes before someone came over to greet us and ask us how many people we had. Yes, the wait staff saw us standing there but no one came over to even tell us that someone would be right with us. Finally a guy came out from the back and took our names and told us it would be about 15 minutes before we are seated. We ended up waiting 25 minutes before someone called us. Mind you, the restaurant was NOT packed. And we did not receive an explanation of what was taking so long. I feel like someone should have came over to update everyone on why there was a hold up because by this time there were a few families waiting to be seated. When we finally got to our table our waitress came over to take our order but she did not use a notepad. We asked her if she could remember our order and she said yes. She mentioned that she would repeat it back to us to be sure she got it. Well apparently she forgot because when she came back to the table my order was missing. And when the food arrived it was wrong. I requested "No meat" for my nachos and I asked her to make sure there is no meat in the queso that they put on the nachos. When she came back she brought some chips and salsa (that we did not order), and kept bringing me a cast iron pot of queso. Everyone else's food came and I had to remind the other waitress that we were waiting on my order. My food came to the table about 10 minutes late and the nachos had beef in them and the quacamole was missing. I had to wait another 10 minutes for my food to arrive and the quacamole was STILL missing. She brought me two small cups of quac and the taste was awful. It had way too much seasoning in it and the pepper was overbearing. When my check came I got charged for the extra chips and salsa that I did not ask for, and charged extra for the pot of queso that I also did not order. There was a misunderstanding about the queso that was supposed to go on the nachos. The waitress was not attentive and the manager had to come over and correct the bill. The overall atmosphere was not pleasant.

Can't say enough good things about this place. The amazing story, incredible whiskey and really…read moregood food. The whole vibe here is so cool. You feel inspired and like family. We stopped at the bar before doing the tour. Hanna was amazing. Her drinks were so good. The cocktails are incredible and tasty. We did the tour with Renia and were totally inspired. She told us not only how bourbon is made but the stories behind them. Incredible. Hung out for lunch. Really good! Had the chicken sandwich and smash. Really well made. Everything is fresh and tasty.

FANTASTIC experience! My favorite Distillery visit yet - GREAT backstory of the founders, very…read moregood liquid, wonderful atmosphere and incredibly supportive of our troops. It's something else - and much larger than I expected for such a young distillery. I've been to 33 distilleries and have only rated 5 of them a 5.0. HISTORY - I learned so much about the history of making this distillery a reality which came from the history of the Husband/Wife team who founded it: Brad & Jessica Halling. Too much to include in this review but Google them. Brad Halling is was part of the events in the movie Black Hawk Down & Jessica Halling was the Army Judge Advocate and retired as a Colonel just to start the story with... AMBIANCE - Gloriously appointed buildings with wonderful military nods everywhere you look without being gaudy - incredibly artfully worked w/ wonderful symbolism, very comfortable inside as well. TASTING - on the tour, you get to taste 4 liquids in a special room with great literature commemorating something military (Battle of Mogadishu on my visit). Liquids were: Sergeant's Valor Select Bourbon, Sergeant's Valor Select Rye, Madam Colonel Gin and Madam Colonel Pistachio Bourbon Cream. All were unique and very tasty. LIQUID - I loved what I tried - I did also go to the bar and order the ($40 a pour) and it was absolutely delicious! * Sergeant's Valor Select Bourbon - 93 proof, this is a 3 bourbon blend with some corn sweetness and a nice nose w/ some dark chocolate & cherry. Tasted balanced and rounded character w/ some very light oak and chocolate. * Sergeant's Valor Select Rye - 93 proof, I loved this rye - even at 95% rye bill, it wasn't too spicy for me, it tasted dark, fully balanced and tasty with more of the pepper spice than anything else with some toasted oak flavors * Madam Colonel Gin - 80 proof, unique gin for sure - less on the juniper than lots of gins for sure, this gin highlighted citrus (orange peel) * Madam Colonel Pistachio Bourbon Cream - 40 proof, very tasty and my first Pistachio bourbon cream I've ever had. The nut flavor was slightly present but not overwhelming - easy to drink on it's own and probably fantastic in coffee or hot chocolate * Sergeant's Valor Gratitude (Super 62) - 106 proof, special blend I don't recall but very balanced, smooth and tasty with hints of oak and corn sweetness TOUR - the tour is $26 a person and lasts just shy of a full hour, and I had the fortune to have KATE as my tour guide. She was engaging, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable - her love for her workplace and the founders was evident. Absolutely a fantastic tour with her at the helm and I learned so much about Brad & Jessica which really helped the experience. You also get a custom rocks glass after your tasting which is not available for sale - you can only get the glass on the tour! Finally, I felt honored just to be here so close to Ft Bragg in the presence of 2 true American Heros, and during the tour we were outside when 2 military choppers literally flew overhead, almost as if it was planned (it wasn't). I got chills. Fantastic visit and I highly recommend when in the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area, to visit this fine place!

I went to O'Donnell's again recently while in town for training with a local firearms trainer. I…read morerealized something important: the only reason this bar is tolerable is that I'm typically there with the trainer, who is well-known in the community. Thus, I get treated as a friend-of-a-friend, not an outsider. Otherwise, I surely would have experienced even more of the negative things these other folks are posting about than I already have. Bottom line, this place is a freaking dive, is filthy, and has awful service. The employees mostly have attitude problems-- I was looked at funny when simply ordering a beer, as if they didn't want my business because I wasn't one of their regulars. This is nowhere to take a client, a co-worker, a friend, or anyone else whom you want to have a respectable experience. The only reason I go here is that the trainer goes here all the time and they have a good beer selection-- and there's nothing else I'm really wanting to do after being on the gun range all day. Also, they have a pool table and it's two blocks from the Jefferson Inn, where I normally stay while in town. The staff needs a major attitude adjustment, and also compliance training so they don't over-serve. This should be a place where customers are welcomed, not a locals-only watering hole where I can barely get service. This place is often empty, while there are other establishments in town that are crushing it and are always packed, so obviously folks are voting with their feet.
