THIS IS AN UPDATED REVIEW - My wife & I went here for lunch a couple days ago and I decided to try the chicken sandwich advertised on TV. I was glad to see that the dish not only came with a side but an app too. I had the salad and it was fresh and delicious but the chicken sandwich towards the middle was rubbery and had an unusual texture. I already ate half and was going to let it go but our server Brittany insisted that their Mgr Jeff specialty is making things right for the customer. Sure enough he came over and was very pleasant and he said no matter what - If I had a problem with my meal he would change it out for another. I opted for one of their burgers and it was brought over by another Mgr Kyle also very friendly! All three, our server Brittany, and Mgrs Jeff & Kyle showed genuine concern for customer satisfaction. So we went to Chili's for science: culinary field research. This was our first time at this Chili's, & maybe my second time at any Chili's ever, so we went in with an open mind. We sat at the bar & I noticed right away that it felt like we were under a spotlight. I know I shouldn't have expected perfectly ambient low-lighting from a chain restaurant, but I at least expected to not feel blinded by the lights. Honestly, sunglasses & a hat would've made the experience more pleasant. It was busy in there (Friday night) & the ladies behind the bar were HUSTLING. They still blessed us with waters & a basket of chips with salsa relatively quickly. As we were browsing the menu, we noticed that there were no prices next to the drinks. Drink prices by request only? That's a really strange practice. I'm not into it. I like to know what I'm getting myself into from the get go. Regardless, we ordered the Spice-A-Rita & the Presidente Rita (the Spice-A-Rita is $10 & the Presidente Rita is $9.50 - I know that now) & I requested a gluten-free menu. Not surprisingly, most of the menu is glutinous. There's the option to substitute a corn tortilla here & there to make a dish gluten-free, which is what I did. I ordered the chicken, bacon, & ranch quesadilla on a corn tortilla & my partner ordered the triple dipper. While we waited, we sipped our actually-pretty-decent drinks & snacked on the greasiest chips I've ever laid my hands on. When our food arrived, it was equally as greasy. I laid my napkin on my quesadilla to soak up some of the grease. My partner's triple dipper looked ... Horrifying. Particularly the "mozz block" which is an abomination of the natural world & should be treated as such. Perhaps ejected light years into outer space for the safety of the human race. But we feasted & ordered a second round of drinks from the very cheery & funny bar staff. When I asked for a "stupid amount of salt" on the rim of my margarita, they absolutely delivered. To entertain our inner iPad children, we played around with the little device that was in front of us. We played an arcade style game of golf & then challenged other Chili's patrons from across the USA to multiple rounds of trivia. We lost spectacularly to someone in St. Augustine over & over & over again. When we finally paid, we had wracked up a $90 tab. After a $20 tip, we were out the door, laughing at ourselves & our Chili's experiment. Conclusion: We will probably never be back for food, but we might come back for margaritas & kiosk trivia. TLDR; Greasy food, very nice bar staff, decent drinks. read more

The waiter I had rubbed me the wrong way, food was mediocre at best, can't say much about it. The waiter was just hella passive aggressive like she gave me a weird attitude when I asked for the free nachos and dip because I forgot I had it in my account and she was all like "so do you want it" so rudely and I'm like well yes ? That's why I'm asking.. idk I wouldn't come back, then the people who were seated behind me she was being all nice to literally splashed me with a drink and they just chuckled. We've been dining at Chili's in New London, CT for many years and have never had a complaint about the food or service. Tonight we went to dinner with friends, and the restaurant was quite busy. I did have a small concern with my meal, but our server, Kaitlyn, apologized and quickly resolved it to my complete satisfaction. The manager also came over right away to apologize and even comped my meal and provided a few desserts, which was very thoughtful. We've had Kaitlyn as our server a few times, and she consistently provides great service with a smile. We really appreciate the excellent customer service and look forward to many more visits! read more

I know this is not a family or local restaurant. This is your topical chain restaurant. However I have to say I have been here more than 30 times over 21 years in CT. So this review is more than fair since I can't remember having a bad time. The staff here works really hard to do a great job. I have seen 2 different managers in this time at least and they work very hard to serve quickly and provide good quality food. I didn't take a picture on this occasion as I was very hungry. I had started a diet and felt my blood sugar low. However they were nice enough to make an alternative for me and that was amazing. For that alone I will have to give them 5 stars. I ate the entire plate. Requested Alex's Santa Fe burger with out bun; and side of broccoli instead of fries. They gave me extra sauce which made my meal so enjoyable and I was able to keep my low carb diet. Loved every bite. read more

Ennojoyable dinner in the early evening. Was a little crowded but we were seated and served right away. Pleasantly surprised when our food came out pretty quickly. I had read one person's previous comment about their fajita not coming out affixing. That wasn't the case for me, the cast iron plate was sizzling and steaming. Hot and nice, although I would recommend they make their tortillas a little bigger so as to fit all in the 4 they give you. I'm a frequent customer here. The place is always clean, the food is tasty and reasonably priced. The entire staff is very friendly. I usually have Ali as my bartender, and she's phenomenal. Always greets me the moment I sit down. She remembers my drink preferences, as well as the ingredients I dislike and want to remove from my dish. I definitely recommend grabbing dinner, lunch, or just drinks and chips and salsa (they're free at the bar) here. read more

First time at this Chilis and first time at any Chilis in 2 years. Service was great. Good hard-working crew. Had what I always get: chicken fajitas. They didn't seem to be the same of what I recall ordering for decades. The skillet didn't sizzle, leading me to believe they cook the chicken differently. Also the chicken don't have that same smoky taste. Honestly, the chicken just seems to be of lower quality. Also, the portions of veggies were clearly less. It's obvious chilis is in cost cutting costs more, and if they're going to be skimpy with the peppers, I may not not go back much more. They were still good, but not as good as I remember. We hadn't been to a Chili's in 15 years, but we were hungry and it was close to where we needed to be. We were seated quickly. The restaurant was messy. It was off- hours, between lunch and dinner. On a Saturday. Our server was friendly and came by quickly to take drink orders. Toni had a specialty margarita which was very good. I had a Blue Moon. The beer selection was very IPA heavy. I ordered Southwest egg rolls and boneless wings. Toni got a salad. The salad was very interesting looking when it was delivered. But there were lettuce bases in the salad. The southwest egg rolls were really good. Crispy and light. The chicken was meh. Too much coating, too much salt and not enough Buffalo sauce on the chicken or enough blue cheese to dip them. Once our food was delivered, the server was absent for quite a while. One of the penalties of dining between meal times. I remember why we stopped going to Chili's. I don't expect I would go back. My fiancé, sister and I went for appetizers and drinks tonight and were extremely happy with our service. Our waitress was Jenna and she was absolutely amazing. This is me and a few of my friends go to place for the monthly margarita specials!! Hands down chili's makes a great margarita! If we decide to eat I ALWAYS get the chicken fajitas always a win. The portion size for me is great because there is enough for lunch the next day. I know so people don't care for chain restaurants but this restaurant is pretty good! The bar is one of our favorite spots to sit and drink margaritas! Chili's is what it is . A typical freezer to fryer type of chain restaurant whom I would never give 5 stars to if it wasn't for their Server Jen. Jen is the most outgoing, funny, and attentive server I have ever had. Watching her go to table to table cracking jokes and hearing her and the customers laugh is the only reason I am giving Chili's a 5 star rating. She is an asset to this company and deserves recognition for the show she puts on. Everytime I ask my 11 year old son where he wants to eat it's Chili's to see Jen. So... with that being said we often visit this chili's on the days we know she works and will always make sure to request her section. We visited this Chili's location while on a getaway to Mystic (it was between lunch and diner hours and it felt like every restaurant in Mystic was closed at that time). We ordered the dinner special for 2 for $35, so it wasn't too expensive. I had the Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Pasta and it was a little bland. Their molton lava cake was pretty good, but I had better. The only thing I liked was their margarita, and I'm glad that it was included in the dinner special. There's a lot of parking in the front. I've eaten at plenty of Chili's but this once deserved a good review. We were celebrating some USN ITS graduations from "sea" school, and everything was wonderful. We walked in with 14 people and were seated within 5 minutes. Our server was AWESOME! Our food came out fresh and hot. Our cups didn't run dry. Everything from start to finish was awesome! Very friendly and helpful staff. I wish the southern chains had the same sense of urgency this store did! They even had sweet tea, which is a rarity anywhere north of the mason Dixon line. Why anyone would write a Yelp review of a Chili's is beyond me---after all, it's a chain. And all chains are pretty much the same. Applebees is Chili's is Olive Garden. All the food is (or tastes) precooked. It's all loaded with cheese and bacon and deep fried before getting covered in a cream sauce to ensure it has some sort of flavor. Yet, we went here for lunch today. There was a fire at this location, and we were sort of hoping that maybe all the old traces of crappy chain food were burned up in that smoldering ash. Well....err...nope. Still the same old stuff with a brand new look. The reason for the extra star is for the decor--the inside of this place looks really nice since the remodel and they get points for paying homage to the Navy Base by having a giant chili pepper riding a sub in the artwork by the front door. (My hubbs is a submariner, so maybe I'm just biased.) But aside from that, skip it. There are much better non-chain places to grab lunch in this area. read more

I've never had a wait time here. This and salsa are free, that's a plus. Chili is awesome (no beans). That always have a great margarita selection. Man, I remember going to Chili's all the time when I was a kid, a decade or longer ago when it was straight-up Tex-Mex and wasn't trying to be a damn Applebee's. Those were the days. There are still a few items on the menu from the place's Tex-Mex days, so if you can find those (the soft chicken tacos or the chili, for example), they're pretty good. A couple of the pasta dishes are fine, too. All of their new stuff though -- all the stuff with the word 'crispy' in the name TWICE, and they're actually all soggy as hell -- is awful. Last time I went, I got a sampler of spinach-artichoke dip, mini bbq burgers, and 'crispy chipotle chicken crispers.' None of it was good. A couple of bites into each, I put them down. The burgers in particular were awful: There was something horribly old and off about the buns. I will vouche for the desserts, though. They're pretty good. read more

We arrived a little after 5 so that we could take advantage of their Happy Hour which occurs between 4 and 6. We sat in the bar area and were greeted by Jo-Ann. If you EVER eat at this Chili's and your server is Jo-Ann, for the love of man-kind, please go elsewhere. Run as fast as you can!!! I ordered a non-alcoholic beverage (preggers), my husband and his friend ordered the beer on special, and my husband's other friend ordered the margarita on special. At this point, it is just about 5:30. It was 5:45 before we got our drinks. So, naturally, all the guys chug their beverages so they can order one more before Happy Hour ends. They order, and receive their drinks just as 6 approaches. Jo-Ann was going soooo slow on purpose. We had also ordered chips for the table and that took about 15 minutes to get to us. When we ordered our meals, I ordered another appetizer for the table. I am not kidding you- 30 minutes later, our appetizer came out. Then about 10 minutes later, we got our meals. Jo-Ann was really dropping the ball on this one. She was bi-polar as well! Sometimes she was pleasant while others who was giving us dirty looks. Chilis is one of my favorite lunchtime locations because it is quick, reasonably priced, and chips and salsa of course! On this visit my friend and I did the 2 for $20 option and had the Texas cheese fries, chips and salsa, he had the chipotle chicken crispers and I had the grilled chicken salad. The salad was delicious and made me feel much better about eating out! I also love that the cutlery now comes in a small bag instead of wrapped in a napkin- it was cute! read more

This chilli's was very clean and the staff was friendly. At one point the manager even checked in on us and made us feel welcome. This is in stark contrast to my earlier meal at the blue sky diner in Stratford ct. Where the staff gave me grease burns by throwing french fries straight out of the frier into my trousers. God I still feel the burn. My turkey club was sub par but gave me grade A diarrhea. Chilli's was a fantastic dining experience. 5 stars read more

I only came here because my friend wanted their fried pickles. Upon being seated, we found the booth seats to be wet. We were handed napkins to dry the seats off, instead of the hostess drying it off. Maybe I am a snob..but.. "..why am I trying off Chili's seats as their guest?" was my initial thought upon doing this task. Anyways, we ordered fried pickles and chips with salsa and guacamole. Our waitress was SUPER attentive and friendly. The paying of the bill was so convenient as we did it right at the table on a tablet after swiping our cards. The fried pickles were A-OK. They had a lot of batter, but were fried pickles nonetheless. The chips are always freshly fried and are endless, along with the salsa. The guacamole wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing. It didn't have the overly fake, I came out of a package taste though, that's a plus. read more

I am going to go with three stars because the food was decent for a Chili's. Had the chili and bacon burger wife had the same but with a salad. Both meals were very good. The issue is the management. Our server had to cover other co-workers while they took breaks so our apps came out after a 20 minute wait which meant the meals came out right as we starting eating apps. I asked to have them refired so they wouldn't dry out at the table which was done. Next issue was the shift manager delivered them by dropping them on to the table as we were talking and gave a half-assed "enjoy" as she turned away. I've been here a few times because friends like it. I'm not much into franchise restaurants, because everything tastes frozen and the drinks taste like mixer. But, it's relatively cheap and family friendly, which is where franchises like this tend to excel. David was our server, he was amazing-- at one point my partner asked for a refill of her soda pop my mouth was full so I couldn't answer -- he actually thought of me and brought me a water just incase!! He was super attentive and in a great mood!! The only thing I didn't like with this trip to Chilis was the new addition of the Ziosk -- this is supposed to be family time, a time to go out and sit down together and have conversation -- to interact with your server and feel like you've been taken care of (that is why it is customary to tip) not play apps and order through a computer. I'm disappointed in this addition and I'm glad that David didn't need it to provide us with the atmosphere and experience we were expecting. I actually didn't order an alcoholic drink because we were told you had to order through the Ziosk and I refused to make a glorified iPad part of my dining experience. Thank you David! read more

We have gone here periodically since it originally opened. It ya to one of our favorite restaurants. However our last visit was less than satisfying. Our waiter had the personality and attentiveness of a wet dishrag. The quality of the food has also decreased significantly. My chicken was extremely dry and tasteless. If it wasn't for the other items I added to the fajita I doubt I would have been able to swallow it. I don't know if they have decreased their food quality to try and save money while competing with the other restaurants that have opened in the recent past in the same basic area. We won't be going back, ever. read more
