It had been over 4 years since my last visit and to my delight, they now offered a Happy Hour. The Happy Hour pricing definitely bumped up my Value rating versus our previous visit! I sampled a couple of their $2.99 Happy Hour Margaritas (see pictures, showing 2 different glasses) while enjoying their complimentary Chips & Salsa (see picture) along with ordering a companion bowl of guacamole (see picture). The salsa was thick and tomato-y if you like that (I did) and the guacamole appeared to have a slight white tinge to it while offering a unique flavor that while I couldn't pinpoint what it was, I liked it. Neither were very spicy. For the main course, I went with 2 of their Street Tacos. Both came with generous meat and toppings - and I would highly recommend them. I do have to admit that I strongly prefer corn tortillas over flour, so am biased in that area - and really enjoy trying different street tacos.

I didn't get his name, but he was attentive, charming and genuinely pleasant, and he deserves credit for making the experience better than the food did. The people I was dining with didn't have anything particularly bad to say about their meals, but nobody seemed to be having a religious experience either. Mostly sandwiches and salads, and nothing that made me think that I need to come back here and try that. And that's the problem with Urban Grill: nothing is really wrong with it. Nothing is particularly right with it, either. It's pleasant. It's serviceable. It exists. But in a city with plenty of restaurants competing for your attention, "perfectly adequate" isn't exactly a compelling reason to return. The beers someone ordered the bottle of was in a glass cup. The gin and tonic was wrong and had to be sent back. We placed our food orders and it took a while but we understood the kitchen was probably busy. During this time someone ordered another drink and went to the bathroom. The waitress brought a drink out and said she wasn't sure if it was his and to ask him if it tastes right when he gets out of the bathroom. I was told it was wing night there, but my boneless wings came out about 15 minutes after the other food at the table came out. I ordered them not sauced, just some bbq on the side. They came out sauced and I'm not sure if they just have different tasting bbq, but it didn't taste like a normal bbq. We brought this issue up to the waitress and she just looked like a deer in headlights. She offered to have them remade but said it would be quite a while because the kitchen is busy, and we didn't have time to wait again. I hated the taste of the bbq so I only ate a few bites. We went with the Birria pizza, which was a special of the month in November, but it must've been so popular that they put it on their forever menu. I'm a Birria taco lover, but it was a bit different than the Birria tacos but still great. There are so many different flavors on this pizza and a cheesy queso sauce to boot. She slammed dishes onto the table, rolled her eyes, gave us dirty looks, and treated us as though we were an inconvenience. She showed absolutely no warmth, professionalism, or basic courtesy. What made this especially upsetting was that we had brought family visiting from Arizona to one of our longtime favorite casual restaurants. They were shocked by how rude and unwelcoming the service was. We actually left shortly after she approached our table for the third time because the experience had become so uncomfortable. No one should feel unwelcome while dining out. We used to eat at Truman's at least once a week and genuinely enjoyed it.
