Our first baby, Jonathan, turned 2.9 in the fall of 2019. He was my spirited baby - he could climb to the top of the highest playground structures, he loved being held and he hated wearing shoes and sweaters. He had extreme separation anxiety. He would cry for hours when he first started. He was also really curious and had an unbelievable memory and imagination. We gave him a lot of freedom as a baby and raised him with a lot of love and cuddles so he was confident and opinionated which are qualities I admire but I always worried how he would do in a traditional school set up. I didn't want him to lose himself in the process of learning. As we were looking for a preschool, we did our research but we also got really lucky that we found Child's world. Jonathan spent his first year bonding with friends and teachers, learning to share and learning to garden. It was hard for him to be indoors for too long so he spent a lot of time outside with his favorite teacher at the time, Miss Megumi. His other teacher Miss Jamie was like a family member to him too. Now, almost 3 years later, as I look at him and receive feedback from his current teachers Miss Lizzie and Miss Jill, I feel so proud of the young boy that he has become. He loves indoor and outdoor time and has made so many friends and best of all he loves to learn. His face has a wide smile every time he talks about Child's world and his teachers. Jonathan is starting Kindergarten this fall and I am no longer worried about him. I know Child's World has prepared him well. Along with knowing behaviors and expectations, he knows to write numbers and letter in lower and uppercase and is even starting to read, he also knows many other things such as days of the week, months of the year, planets, colors, names of dinosaurs and I could go on and on. I have attached some pictures of Jonathan over the year. The one in which he is carrying a mini suitcase was taken on his first day. I have also attached comments from his current teacher Miss Lizzie which truly shows how well the teachers know him.

We have toured many schools before deciding to put our eldest daughter in CW. It's the best decision ever. Not only are the teachers so patient and dedicated but the attention to details ... especially the outdoor classroom. They always have many fun activities set up for the kids to explore. All the activities are extremely child centered and it's really the best school for children who loves exploring and loves spending time outside. Now my eldest daughter has graduated to 1st grade but once in a while she gets to come visit her little sister in her parent toddler class and she kept saying she wish this is still her school . Thank you to all the teachers who put in so much work in making this school a fun place for our kids to grow and learn.

Closed to nature. All teachers and employees are super nice there. I could feel teachers love their student.

Ms. Selene, Ms. Katie, Ms. Laura, Ms. Amanda, Ms. Joanne, Ms. Wanda, Ms. Alice, Director Lisa -- the list goes on and on. Every single educator has been amazing. Both of my kids have experienced being the "new kid" here - my daughter as a 3 year old preschooler and my son as a 6 month old baby. The teachers in both classes welcomed my children and made them (and us as parents) feel like we were at home and helped us through the transition with strong frequent communication to ease my "mommy guilt" of working full time and not being able to be with my kids during the day. Director Lisa is also exceptional in her personableness with each family, even though she's the Principal of the school. (Pre-Covid, she would regularly greet us tired mommys with life-giving hugs, sending us to our workdays feeling empowered!). The facilities are also beautiful, warm, and intentionally decorated for age group. I can't say enough good things about Mariners Church Preschool. Highly-recommended, get on the waitlist ASAP (As in, when you're expecting - don't wait until you know the baby's gender (they need to know this for class balancing) - you can always update them on the gender later).

This is a school where a real sense of community exists. Entire families really get to know each another through the wonderful school activities and events throughout the years. Staff goes the extra mile to really get to know your child and family. We'll never forget how one of our son's teachers delivered a special sign filled with messages from his classmates when he was in the hospital. Most importantly, the curriculum and teaching methods are excellent. The school utilizes the perfect amount of technology that is age-appropriate. By the time our kids left kindergarten, they were more than prepared for the first grade. The emphasis on social skills and kindness is also invaluable. Our children have always enjoyed going to school each day and seeing their teachers and classmates. In fact, they never want to leave when we pick them up, and that's always been a great sign. TRP will always have a special place in our hearts.

They emphasized high demand and selectivity and asked fairly personal screening questions. The selectivity signals seemed out of sync with what I actually observed during the tour. The whole experience felt a little odd. The staff never raised their voices or argued, and the interactions were civil, but I came away with the impression that the school was rather bureaucratically run and unnecessarily gatekept. There seemed to be more emphasis on the admissions process and selectivity than I expected from a preschool. It may work very well for some families, though. This was simply my impression from the tour.

The creative learning/play schedule that she comes up is really unique. They even brought in real snow for a day! The toddler years are full of so many emotions, so much brain development and honestly every day can be a different challenge. I love that they recognize that and know exactly what they need to do to make the day go smooth for each child. We love Gordon Preschool!

The activities are so fun, like smashing hallow eggs with letter to learn the alphabet or matching rocks to outlined shapes. She goes all out on occasions, once she even brought in snow for the kids! Seriously, snow! And they had a blast. Really, she should be teaching others how to teach in the play based way. The kids love her program and her, and benefit greatly from it. Only to find out when I got there they brought me in for a potential position in the future because they liked my resume and phone interview. I had to sit through an hour interview knowing I wasn't getting the current job. I was NOT told this when asked to come in for an interview. The whole thing was weird energy between the assistant director and director and a waste of a 40 min drive and me taking a day off. The assistant director was incredibly warm and the main director was cold. I can't speak on the education etc.. of this school. But I did not appreciate my time being wasted for a "potential" position months away. As I was looking for and applied for current employment and should have been informed otherwise.

First time under the eye and he came back with black patch under his eye. He could have lost his eye. When we brought it up to the teacher and the director, they said your son must be irritating other kid. What? Are we living in jungle as primates? Then next time he came back with scratches and third time was it for us. The teachers are totally irresponsible. There are 100 kids at the same time in the playground and no one is really paying attention. Kids are saying bad words, bullying and other behavior that no sane parents will like their kids to expose to. They lack passion and accountability. They have no focus on wellbeing of the kids. They don't seem to really care as there is a long waiting list of parents who work at UCI. We noticed most kids are sad and angry there. If you are parents who really care about well being of your kid, I will avoid this place. Our son earlier went to Verano Preschool and had great experience there. It's a great developmental preschool. We switched because we wanted him to get Montessori experience. There are much better Montessori schools in Irvine. He is in another one now where he is thriving and happy. Best of Luck.
