Established in 1952, Childrensalon has grown from selling beautiful own-brand handmade dresses and boys suits from it's store in the UK to being the internets largest children's designer fashion, toys and gifts retailer.
Childrensalon offers over 220 children's designers; including Burberry, Dior, Roberto Cavalli, Junior Gaultier, D&G Junior, Armani, I Pinco Pallino and Fendi - to more sought-after emerging designers such as Lesy, Pamilla, Cap Ras- all hand picked from our buyers with over 60 years experience between them.
Add traditional and contemporary toys, gifts for all ages, special occasion wear, accessories and shoes and you begin to have an idea of the 12,000 products on offer, with new items added daily.
We have team of personal shoppers and advisors in a staff of over 50, twelve of whom are from the original founding family, we are available online and happy to help you any day of the week.
History
Established in 1952.
Sybil Harriman (Nee Macgowan) was born in Dublin in 1919. Both her mother and grandmother were passionate artists; her childhood memories were family gatherings with the artists and creatives of the day discussing art, culture, the fashions of Coco Chanel, Hermes scarves and the celebrity icons of film, Gloria Swanson, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
Sybil's passion had begun with dressing her children, and so it only seemed right that her own six children, three boys and three girls, would become her very own fashion models and her eldest daughter, Joy, lent her name to her exclusive designer range, 'Joy Models'. The business expanded from the workshop to its own premises, and eventually re-located to the High Street in Tunbridge Wells. In 1999, Childrensalon went online.
We love our heritage and it's values, and the fact we are still independent. This is what really what makes the Childrensalon brand unique, as well as having 13 members of the original family in a staff of over 50.
Meet the Business Owner: Michele H.
In the late 70's Michele (daughter to the founder) joined Childrensalon and brought her own creative impulses. By the late 90's Michele, married to a successful designer and illustrator, (famous for painting the iconic Mama Mia picture) decided to bring their unique offer to the world-wide-web. The Childrensalon website launched in 1999, to immediate success, attracting customers from all over the world. The customers loved the old-fashioned emphasis on "after sales! comes service", the original slogan from the 1950's.
